So according to this huckster if one sits around performing exercises of mental speculation they can "simulate enlightenment". I find the thing about RAW is even though he had irrational phases (in fact I gather he came out with plenty of shite in his day, like Leary et. al) he held his beliefs lightly and wore them on his sleeve and wasn't too interested in getting people to sign up to a particular philosophy. Unless you consider discordianism a philosophy.

I don't think you can take what he says literally all the time.

He often said his writing style was that of making the reader believe in a certain ideology or philosophy (or conspiracy) and then destroying it completely in the next few pages. His way of 'forcing his readers to think' as he put it and not to look at him as someone who had all the answers.

I completely get the think for yourself philosophy, along with the believe nothing view, and have heard him talk about how he's scared people will believe everything he writes in his books.

@tonyfalca I agree by totally disagreeing. Anybody who is "authorised" is empowered by an authority. Who authorised the authority? The infinite turle fallacy this creates ceases to exist when we discover and understand that all authority comes from our perception, our conscousness, our alignment. So we are all authorised masters by being the only authority that exists, but none of us can be a true authority for the other - we might fool them to believe so, yet it is their foly that authorises it

This is easily for me the most epic talk of all time because he is so cohesive and refreshingly in historic and social context with critical issues;The references to Leary are a huge breakthrough for me.
