You really did a great service to us all by giving this out. I had the honor of meeting Bob when he visited our old bookstore Fringeware. He was a great guy. Best Witches! Uncle Setnakt (Don Webb at Edred.net)
Thank you very much for uploading. Mr Wilson has played a big part in my own personal quest for understanding and I hope everyone finds at least one statement he makes mind blowing as I have.
this guy and his shtick epitomizes the old joke theirs a sucker born everyday. So according to this huckster if one sits around performing exercises of mental speculation they can "simulate enlightenment". What does that even mean?Where does the Buddha instruct to SIMULATE enlightenment. As a serious student of major spiritual traditions this is the first time i ever heard of this so called theory. Why wouldn't one use the same amount of energy to actually become self realized?cheaters n cheated
@TheManolakis I'm glad someone said it. He's a total huxter on the look out for suckers. I'm glad you had the intelligence to see right through his act. I hear he used to work at Playboy writing letters too, how could he possibly know anything about enlightenment or yoga? I can't downvote this video because I've uploaded it, could you do it please?
@tehmushroom teh if your interested in philosophy or alternative sciences please check my channel. i have many lectures given by Srila Prabhupad a authorized and genuine spiritual master on a verity of different subjects. As well as Vedic sciences, archeology, yoga, music, vegetarian cooking and more.
@tehmushroom I think the guy is cool. I find the thing about RAW is even though he had irrational phases (in fact I gather he came out with plenty of shite in his day, like Leary et. al) he held his beliefs lightly and wore them on his sleeve and wasn't too interested in getting people to sign up to a particular philosophy. Unless you consider discordianism a philosophy.
I don't think you can take what he says literally all the time.
@Pulchism YES to everything you said. He often said his writing style was that of making the reader believe in a certain ideology or philosophy (or conspiracy) and then destroying it completely in the next few pages. His way of 'forcing his readers to think' as he put it and not to look at him as someone who had all the answers.
@tehmushroom Old Bob hopes to teach one important thing, think for thyself. He once said "I'm scared that people will believe everything I write in my books." He also said, at the end of "Prometheus Rising," that he "hopes people don't accept any of the words he has written," to follow the idea that Socrates brought on, always question. As bobbygnosis said, he also once said that disciples were assholes trying to find someone to cling to. In other words, he was no mystic. He was a man who lived.
@816bigbear When I said I like to listen to authorized masters, I was trying to be sarcastic while not letting on. I completely get the think for yourself philosophy, along with the believe nothing view, and have heard him talk about how he's scared people will believe everything he writes in his books.
@tonyfalca I agree by totally disagreeing. Anybody who is "authorised" is empowered by an authority. Who authorised the authority? The infinite turle fallacy this creates ceases to exist when we discover and understand that all authority comes from our perception, our conscousness, our alignment. So we are all authorised masters by being the only authority that exists, but none of us can be a true authority for the other - we might fool them to believe so, yet it is their foly that authorises it
@Fnorder23 Exactly, my point was that who is to say we, each and everyone of us, are not the authority? We are, in fact, the only ULTIMATE authority that exists, and as you have pointed out, the only authority one should ever desire is that of authority over one's self. ALTHOUGH, if you look at ---continued
@tonyfalca (2) one of the many definitions of authority on Merriam-Webster, "2 a : power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior", it becomes easier to understand why people could assume that there are other such authorities out there, such as the government, corporations, advertising agencies, et cetera. Everything then becomes an authority. But as we have agreed, each of us are, ultimately, the only authority over ourselves. ---continued
@tonyfalca (3) I feel as if it is important to point out that 'official' language is a prolific medium as to suggest, promote, and impose disorder or confusion amongst the masses. One word with, usually, numerous meanings whereby quite often the meanings contradict one another; for example, 'anarchism' could suggest "a utopian society of individuals who enjoy complete freedom without government" while at the same time suggesting "absence of order : disorder", as if to promote --- continued
@tonyfalca (4) ...[as if to promote] the idea that we, each and everyone of us, are of an inherent disordered nature; each of us are supposedly beings of chaos, et cetera. What a silly sick joke that is...
@TheManolakis If you had ever read one single shred of what he's written he is the first to recognize that he is a huckster as much as Crowley was and as much as Paul was when he invented the Bible. What he is describing here is no different than the path to Nirvana. Sorry you don't get it. Maybe someday after you pass the blue dot test you'll be ready for this.
@eigenstates Thank you for giving me a glimpse at the mind and i.q of someone who is foolish enough to fall for this guys mumbo jumbo. i also wasn't aware that Paul invented the Bible? LOL. There truly is "one born every minute". Good luck on the path to "nirvana", if your ever in the market for a bridge let me know.
@TheManolakis haha you really are an arrogant person aren't you, shows how much you really know about spirituality, you're probably only trying to be spiritual in order to boost your own ego, you've learned nothing
The Buddha the man was just a man, incapable of speaking all thoughts. The Buddha the god is all of us, and sometimes even spoke through Robert Anton Wilson. And you.
@scotty511 pretty incoherent comment. Not sure exactly what your point is,though i recognize and acknowledge the sentiment regarding the supersoul or paramatma residing in everyone.Despite that fact,it is unreasonable to take everyone's bogus philosophy as gospel or even as noteworthy.Which is how i would categorize Wilson's nonsense philosophy aimed at deceiving people with little to no understanding of spirituality or psychology.i'm bored with this topic, not worth my energy,i'll no longer reply
@Pulchism Dude, (understandably) there are some people without a sense of humour. Or maybe he's absolutely right, and we're too brainwashed by RAW's deception to see through it all (fnord!)
So few of the people who listened to this finished the talk so far, I recommend listening to it all, over and over without interruption consecutively. It would be nice to have this talk in two parts instead of 11. This is easily for me the most epic talk of all time because he is so cohesive and refreshingly in historic and social context with critical issues; The references to Leary are a huge breakthrough for me. I love his take on the conspiracy thing. Thanks so much for posting, Aloha... MB
raw will probably never become oldfashioned because his ideas are so outrageous that society would never cope with them. Like all good authors he will remain fresh and enlightening
@tehmushroom well, modern "rebels" show very much how "abominable" ideas become slowly a commercial interest, then integrated into society. as long as his ideas do not endanger moneyinterests, he has good chances to become normal. what, everything might be true ? that is exactly what is sold now on the market. be a rocker. a metalhead. a hiphopper. a rapper. alternative. left. right. upside down. yoga. christ, antichrist. emo. enemy of emo . all can serve money. piracy as well, through ads.
@gehrmael I recently re-read Cosmic Trigger I, and it's amazing that it was published in 1977, and it's 2011 now and I find it relevant and interesting. I'm not surprised if he was passed off as drug induced gibberish
@tehmushroom Thank you very much for posting this series. More videos of both Terence McKenna and RAW will be greatly appreciated. Peace and happiness.
