I was ridin' my bike down the street one day and this car buzzed me and i got scared and i got on the sidewalk and like i was ridin' down the sidewalk and i was like rollin' up on this bus bench and there was this dude sittin' on the bench and as i was comin' up on the bench i felt this big fart buildin' up so when i got near the dude on the bench i lifted my butt off the seat and let it go and as i rode away from the dude i could hear him like go HEYY !!
would be nice to ride in the street. it's like courting death where I am. My commute is 99% sidewalk/parking lots/ side road trail. No way I'd venture onto the streets willingly here.
but, it's nice to see places with bike lanes, acceptance of bikes, etc....
Yeah, now I think I remember reading somewhere that a "minor" (when it comes to riding bikes) is 12 years old or under. Funny how a 13 year old wouldn't be allowed to drive a car, drink alcohol, or have sex, yet he's excepted to ride out in the street. Must be some seriously outdated law that goes back to the horse-and-buggy era.
Yeah, exactly. Sometimes the traffic is so crazy, and on top of that when you're going around a blind corner or over a blind hill, you really have no choice but to use the sidewalk. In those cases, I slow down to the same speed as a person walking, so nobody really has any right to complain.
I like this video the best out of the three because Janette Sadik-Khan is in this one when the video clocks in at 0:16! If I made this video, I'd get her in all three of these! Why did they only put her in this one?
One of my favorite PSAs. JL captured jerk-ass cyclist mentality, to a tee. I ride the streets of NYC daily, and nothing pisses me off more and grown-ass men and women riding on the sidewalk. We need more of these ads. I love 'em!

Because the Vehicle and Traffic code here in New York specifically say it's OK to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk if you're a minor. What, you expect your 5 year old kid to ride his tricycle out on the damn street?
When is the last time a fatality ever occurred in a collision between a bicyclist and a pedestrian? It's extremely rare. But how often do fatalities occur when a motorist hits a bicyclist? Quite common, unfortunately.
Oh, so now I'm a Jerk? How about the shithead NYPD cops that pulled me over like the eff'n Gestapo when the marked "bike lane" I WAS riding on (that WAS a sidewalk also) all of a sudden ended, with no signage telling me where to go next, then began again 10ft later—which I never got to because the asshole NYPD almost KILLED ME with their UNMARKED black tinted window car to cut me off & give me a bullshit ticket, before I got there, causing me to have to go to court now....

I don't remember the exact law, but I'm pretty sure there is an exemption for minors which allows them to ride on the sidewalk.
