you guys who hate this video dont understand who bill france was or how well he directed nascar.. now nascar is just a free-for-all sport that is taken over by the worst of reporter
NASCAR is still great I think. 2011 has been the best season since about '03 in terms of excitement. My two issues with NASCAR is the restrictions on setups, and the lack of brand identity in the cars - however the manufacturers are allowed to design a lot more aspects of the cars starting in 2013 so that's getting fixed thankfully.
seems like it gets worse every year the COT and the chase has really ruined nascar also plus it seems like most tracks you cant even pass at for some reason
I liked NASCAR better before they had the COT, changing the bodystyles up and making everything ridiculous...My hiope is they'll fix all this, no NASCAR is not like it used to be. I liked it until about 2007 when they introduced the COT which just sucks. In the early 2000s there was a good influx of young and old drivers and there were a lot of fulltime teams and then that made it hard to keep up. Money has a lot to do with it, NASCAR just got into making money mode and it sucks.
to me nascar died after terry labonte won his last title. that year was the last one i remember when the rear bumpers were ROUND and the bodies looked exactly like the street version with extensions around the front and side. after the year i mention wuscar bent over for JACK 'THE CRYBABY' ROUSH who ranted 'we can't keep up with the monte carlo, help me nascar help me'.
nascar as an association was/is dead when Winston left and Busch failed to pickup the pieces. really, if you think about it, all that makes a sport is the players/drivers/storytellers. Ned Jarrett and Benny Parsons told the stories and great PEOPLE like Mark Martin, Darrell Waltrip, Bill Elliott, Harry Gantt, the Allisons, the Pettys and hard racers like Cale & Dale made racing awesome and fun to watch. those times can't be repeated, only cherished.
I don't like whats happened to the sport. Cars that all look alike with decaled headlights. The drivers of today suck. They are whiny drivers who are used to being given everything they want. Then when they have a crappy car and cannot race well its because they never raced long enough with inferior equipment to learn to race with bad cars. Yellows with less then 30 to go because of the deadly piece of paper and its threat of causing deadly paper cuts to everyone. Predictable results. COT,
NASCAR is dying. Rightfully so. Ratings and attendance are both drastically down from 08, although flat year over year. This is what happens when you treat your drivers like shit, manipulate races, and offer 0 transparency to your fans. Good job Brian France, you've managed to kill off what Bill France so brilliantly built up. Until Brian is terminated from his post, this series will continue its decline.
your a dic*head my friend!!!! The death of Nascar??? A HAAAA Your kidding right???? Empty seats yeah but dont forget most Nascar tracks seat 70,000 to 160,000 Go watch some NFL games this year, many many many empty seats as well! And those stadiums hold what at best 30-50,000 people! This year Nascar beat the NHL Playoffs head to head, the NBA playoff's, MLB playoffs and even the World Seires! Nascar is still the 2nd most watch sport in America! go away
@djlilj2050 The NFL generates 9.5Billion/yr in revenues. NASCAR isn't even in the same arena. The smallest NFL stadium is 61k & that's an exception, most are 70k+. NFL tickets are significantly more expensive than NASCAR tix, so even though less people attend, they generate more at the gate. Plus there's 12-16 NFL games/wk, NASCAR only has 1 race/wk. So really far more fans attend NFL games weekly than do fans a NASCAR event. NFL tv ratings continue to soar, NASCAR is down drastically since 08
It isn't about France or whoever. I think drivers don't have the "passion" now that the drivers 20 years ago had. They would do anything to get a win, wins where very important. Today, it's all about points, which make the races boring. And the chase just finished the sport off IMHO
@dolphinmagic24fan this made me lol, since when does NASCAR care about what fans think of the sport these days? haha. As long as they're attracting fair-weathered/curious stick-and-ball fans then they'll continue to operate the way they do and you will continue to see the sport lose its core fanbase like it has been annually. NASCAR used to not need any build-up for its product, you went to the races and you were 9 times out of 10 entertained, now its an EFFORT to put on a good race.
@zummo61 I think that he's making that it was great when the Bill Frances are in charge. Ironically, Big Bill France was an asshole and Little Bill France was a greedy son of a bitch.

also ratings and attendance have both been up about 25% this season over last seaosn... so it's slowly getting better in the fans' eyes as well.

This video is retarded. Nascar isn't dead, it will not die anytime soon, and you are damn lucky Nascar doesn't see this and sue your ass.
