  • 3d = possible

    emboss/bevel = i don't think so, but this is awesome! :D

  • flash = better

  • @bobsonenzo Haha. Nope. Definitely not. In fact, Flash is starting to become a dead format.

  • @WebDevFTW I still don't understand why people are saying HTML5 and CSS3 are better. Actionscript 3 has great event handling architecture and fully object oriented programming environment with mature compiler. JavaScript isn't OOP. Flash already supports hardware acceleration and even better 3D performance for the next release. It also plans on supporting video game controllers for gamers. Flash is also better in terms of speed except for in Mac computers.

  • @bobsonenzo JavaScript IS prototype-based object-oriented language. Flash is closed format that requires third party closed source plugin owned by only one company and that is scary. In that case you are pretty much left to Adobe's mercy for bug fixing and optimization. Software without competition is always bad and/or slow software.

  • @TheMeanEYE You are right that JavaScript is OOP but prototype-based OOP is old. New languages like C# use inheritance-class-based OOP. Considering the increasing need of complex client side technology, class-based OOP should be used. Flash also has competitors such as Unity3d and Silverlight. The plugin is proprietary but it will display consistently over different OS/browser whereas HTML5 and CSS3 needs to take into account cross-browser compatibility which makes code messy + harder to manage.

  • @bobsonenzo You can't really count Silverlight and Unity3d as Flash competitors because code doesn't cross-compile. At the moment HTML5 and CSS3 still need work but majority of browser market supports them quite good. And if you used Flash on anything other than Windows you would know that "display consistently over different OS/browser" is not that true. Flash plugin is not optimized at all on other systems. But if you wish to believe in Adobe/Microsoft fairytale I won't stop you.

  • @TheMeanEYE I'm not trying to prove that Adobe and Microsoft products are better over open standards. It's also not true that Flash is not optimized at all on other systems. Flash player also does display consistently compared to browsers.

  • @bobsonenzo I don't know about consistency but on any OS other than Windows Flash eats CPU uncontrollably. When it comes to JS and HTML5 browser vendors will compete to create fastest and most supported browser (and brag about it). Adobe and MS don't have anyone to compete with. Troll as much as you like, saying that Flash works on Mac and Linux the same way as it does on Windows just tells about your knowledge.

  • @TheMeanEYE You seem to be implying that browser vendors are, unlike Flash, competing against each other which enhances faster, reliable, and more consistent internet experience. Maybe you've only read and visited sites advertising about those browsers. Flash incorporated low-level 3d library and optimization most likely due to Unity3d and canvas element. Video hardware acceleration was also incorporated due to HTML5 video. I also can't agree with you that MS doesn't have competitors.

  • Saw the page, turned off javascript, and saw nothing???

  • @didjmark I believe you can set transform to repeat

  • How did you get it to rotate without javascript? Did you just get it to rotate a large number of degrees over a large time. No, can't be that, as it would render at the rotation angle. You must have used javascript to get it to move from one angle to the next. Any chance of seeing a page? Here's mine, livescript.co.uk/maze/3d or livescript.co.uk/maze/dark/

  • Great. Now in addition of javascript blockers, we're gonna need CSS-animation blockers.

  • Awesome.

  • Amazing, way to go CSS!

  • it's only CSS, or css and javascript?
