His take on monotheism was quite misleading. Monotheism was invented by polytheists who were conquered by other polytheists who in turn shipped them off as slaves to Babylon where they created monotheism in an attempt to save their culture. That monotheistic culture was then conquered again and dominated by the polytheistic Romans where under extreme suppression invented the pacifist monotheism of christianity.
Christianity became violent only after its adoption by Constantine. In fact islam was a new monotheism which started out peaceful as well. Islam only became the most intolerant religion in the world after its former polytheist founder got a taste of power as the ruler of a city.
I must ask then: What of the monotheism found in Vendanta 5000 years ago... long before our friend Jesus was ever around...
There is a strange tendency in people to talk about religion as if it were only western / mid-east phenomena... India had Monotheism all along... Hinduism (and myriad of it's Gods) as such don't even exist, as there is one supreme god above all other demigods... now, there is interesting development of polytheistic society under one supreme master.
@ZenDetox Since you rarely see scientists attack anything other than the judeo-christian version so it's a safe bet that he wasn't talking about Vedanta. I'm going to check out that religion though, I've never heard of it.
@KenMacMillan Vedanta is actually more a philosophy based on indian scriptures called Veda... it's main idea could be summed as "religion without science is sentimentalism, science without religion is a speculative guess work"... It sports one of the most profound dogmas I've ever encountered....

Older than any of the popular religions, written over 5000 years ago, it had profound effect on philosophy, religion and language in the past

Notes: Nisbet found that peops from the South have higher physiological response when dissed.
Cultures with victim myths don't tolerate those who tread on them.
Greek and UAE citizens are liklier to punish generosity than deception.
Stepmatrilineal are under more economic duress.
Vietnam kept units broken so as to taper fragging reminds me of 'Pheonix House'.
What was avoided in Vietnam is called pseudokinship. Representational dehumanization is called psuedospeciation.

These videos are great and I'm grateful to watch them, but please don't cut off the end of every single one. It's really unnecessary.
