  • This printer sucks. It doesn't save a dime in ink and I think it's costing me about twice with my R40 used to. It's also LOUD! The gears inside are very noisy. It also takes FOREVER for a print job to get going when the printer decides it's due for cleaning. It will also clean itself randomly whenever it wants to, like 3am Sunday morning. It just about went out the window that day. I don't understand how crap like this makes it out of QC and carrys the price tag it does.

  • Whoa! I don't know what the ink costs of the R40 were, but according to the reported ink yields that are based on ISO test methods, the OJ8500 has one of the lowest cost per page figures for ink-jet AiOs. We actually bought one for our business and have used it for over a year. More . . .

  • We bought this printer for our business and as far as the noise, you are right because it huffs and puffs sometimes, especially when you turn it on. That said, it should always remain on. Nevertheless, the noise doesn't bother us much because we're used to noisy printers (ever heard a daisy-wheel printer?). I don't understand the middle of the night thing but we have never spent the night in proximity with our printer--although we spend many, many hours with this printer. More . . .

  • Sorry you're unhappy with your printer. Maybe you should return it? Let us know what you decide to do and maybe we can help steer you in the right direction. We've tested hundreds of these things since the dawn of printers.

  • fucking printers only to make u speend more money stupid.

  • You got it! They give you the "razor" (printer), then sell you the "blades" (ink/toner). The only things that we can do to minimize this is to: 1) buy printers with the lowest cost per page; 2) print judiciously; 3) print in B/W or grayscale mode; and/or 4) print in draft mode.

  • We heartily recommend the OJ 8500 as we use one as our primary device. However, a new 8500A version is coming out any day now and it has a new touch screen plus ePrint and PrintApps. Wait until that one is available and make sure that you use the XL ink cartridges in order to minimize the already low ink cost per page.

  • Great Video! ;)

I really considering buying this printer in the next week or so, but i also like another 4 in 1 by HP, so i'll have to choose which one i prefer. ;)

What do you think of this Printer; Is the ink good?, have you had any major problems? and would you recommend it?

Plus, does it work fine on Windows 7(64 bit) and Vista (32 bit)?

  • @Hotlips4000isback it does work with windows 7 64 bit i use it wirelessly in my apartment...very good on ink i bought it 5 months agon and have not replace n e cartriges yet ( and thats heavy printing) only one problem was the top feader for the scaner worked when it wanted to but i recently found out that hp had an update and that update fixed the problem just fine best printer i have ever owned.

  • @HelpSaveMotherEarth Thanks for the reply! ;)

I got the printer about two months ago, slightly updated model but basically the same thing.

Its really nice, economical on the ink, and great printing quality.

So easy to use and set up with my Laptop/Desktop. ;)

Mine has the exstenede 3 years cover, plus the normal i year manufacture garentee, so i'm covered for along time which was a big bonus when getting this printer.

    Happy customer!

  • That's great! Yeah, it's been pretty hard to knock the Officejet line lately (touch screens, ePrint, AirPrint, Print Apps), especially when you consider that when you buy one, the ink costs are among the lowest available. Thankfully, the quality of the software has also improved. Plus, one thing that we won't miss, is the "Easy" Install option that has been recently banished in favor of a installation process clearly shows what is necessary and what is not.

  • @WirthConsulting Yeah, i have the OfficeJet Pro 8500A AIO, and it's got the touch screen,/Apps etc etc , So much stuff on it that i haven't had the chance to dig a bit deeper! ;)

Well worth the money(£149.00). It looks great also, which is a bonus.

  • ....

  • Thanks man this video is really helpful I will refer to it when mine arrives and I have to set it up.
