I received a leaked photo of Two Face and it's a very disturbing photo. I'm looking forward to seeing how much Nolan pushed Eckhart to pull this one off.
Now Harvey Dent, Two=face is gonna kick ass if we can make him half as demented as the Joker looks, and by demented, I mean I want a totally desfigured Psycho!!!
So i dont want to get you kids off on a rant here but.... You know that in this film the Joker will fake his own death so..... i think you know where im going with this LETS PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE!!!!!!!! but fo realzky
during the whole course of TDK project, some more drugs were prescribed. The human body is an interesting thing, cascade of effects from chemicals, look at what a tiny dose of cyanide can do. Bottom line, things went wrong via medication. But, death wasn't his agenda, it was an unfortunate and unanticipated side effect of mixing too many man made concoctions.
well I'm sick of idiots saying he committed suicide, that is bogus. He had a whole lot of meds for various things, some of those problems, insomnia being one of them, caused by his complete dedication to perfection. He was so into the role, thinking he could make it so perfect, that he couldn't sleep... all he could do was try to perfect the role. He sat in a room watching the takes 100s of time, supposedly smiling to himself, and trying to take everything good, and leave all the bad...
In an interview Ledger said he ddint watch any dailies fot TDK he said as an actor he grew out of having to see his performance and to be confident in his reactions in the moment. the only thing he was was the prologue

i dont know why they say that this joker is based on the first batman comics. the first joker was very intelligent and sane, this version looks like the "long halloweeen" and "killing joke" joker who is demented and chaotic.
ledger's performance is excelent and i think he will get an oscar for this
you dont find out exactly but during the film the joker tells different storys one of which is how he got his scars....and let me tell ya its the reason why he hates his father!! but the jokers past is "multiple choice" as he said in the comics so who knows if we should believe him! ;)
If you compare the part where he says " where is Harvey Dent?", he sounds different, more calmer, than when you saw he yell it in the comcast version of the trailer. please comment if you hear it too. I also noticed some similar changes in other trailers and tv spots. wander why they do that.
The only time I've seen The Joker kill anyone in this movie was during the bank heist. Other than that, he has only threaten people. How many people is he going to kill with his knives, guns etc?
Just a piece of advice: See Batman Begins. I also dislike hero-movies... but this one is good, serious, natural, different. Nolan is one of my favorite directors and that's why I dared to go to the cinema some years ago to see Batman Begins. It was good. Nothing out of this world, but it made me change my mind about superhero movies. I hope it is going to be the same case for you!. You can also try The Prestige and Memanto to get into Cristopher Nolan's way of filming.
Tell me about it. Superhero films like Spiderman and Iron man are just not my thing. But Nolan's Batman films are something different. They have much more substance and you can really believe it.
heath ledger has done an amazing job here. i see no actor, i see a character with such an intense personality and precision physical, mental and emotional portrayal. BRAVO
oh god!!!! i had an orgasm when i saw this scene... ledger is the best jack was good but he only was a cartoon... ledger is real ahhhhh i love the picture.... and i've not seen yet

i must say i am floored by this rendition of the Joker...just the part where he plays with the bald guy's head then rolls his eyes and says 'No', completely captures the chaos of the character so looking forward to seeing this
Even if they made it 4 hrs i would enjoy every fucking seconds. This movie is special!!! and in 20/30 years from know those of us who became a witness to the premier of this movie will declare it a privileged to have been a alive and a witness to it!!!!!!
This looks good. I might even try to see it at IMAX. I'm glad that it has a strong villain, because the weak villain in Begins was one of the reasons I didn't like it.
yea you cant really compare the two because they are completly different portrayals in two completly different movie universes. when i was younger i loved jacks joker but after seeing heaths joker i have to say it is closest you can get to the comic version. and the joker is not supposed to be tragic he is just pure evil and finds it funny putting people through hell. and in the very first appearance of the joker he had no origin he just appeared out of nowhere to cause mayhem
NO contest, Ledger is the one and only Joker. Good for Nicholson, he had his moment, funny little movie but for the true Batman fan, this is the real deal, the detective comic, the Dark Knight.
I heard that in this film Ledger tells the story behind the Joker. Just because you are only seeing the previews on what this Joker is bringing you haven't seen the full film to even make that decision
Can anyone just enjoy the performance for what it is?
Stop comparing them; they're not the same person and they're not playing the same role really.
Ledger DIDN'T want to do something already done. Stop trying to prove a point on nonsense. It wasn't cause he couldn't do it. And yes; it is epic; he's playing a dark role in a superhero film; if you don't appreciate it go watch Iron Man and the Hulk. His work is amazing and he should be credited for it; get the stick out your asses.

I don't care for Ledger in the role as the Joker, without having seen the movie I think it was a misstake to use him.
As for the interpretation it's hardly as brilliant as people claim it to be. Could Ledger play Nicholson's Joker? No, probably not and that's likely why he came up with his own take, a more sinister and dark character. Wow, a grim villian, how original? OSCAR PLX!
As for his acting, nothing special to me and he breaks his accent when he says "I only have one question".
you aint got a clue what your talking about. yeah he couldnt play jacks joker because jacks joker was just jack dressed in a purple suit with green hair!!jack wernt playing the joker if you read batman comics youll realise that heaths joker is the most accurate portrayal to date. and the accent? this jokers voice changes all over the place its supposed to show hes schizo
I agree that Jack Nicholson is pretty much the same in all of his films (which is one of the reasons why I think 'The Departed' sucks). But that was that defined Jack Nicholson for me and many others and it just so happened to be that he fit the role like a glove.
I've read the comics and I still can't find myself to agree with you, the joker has a quite tragic persona which I think Jack Nicholson skillfully displays without smacking it into your face like Ledger does.
But Nicholson never played the Joker, Nicholson played himself. As mch as I love that joker, it was not definative by any means, the closest we have been is Hammil, until now. Bring on the Ledger Joker !!!
Like I said above, Jack Nicholson is the same in every movie but he fit the part perfectly. As for Mark Hamill he just did an voiceover, although a good one. Secondly I'd like to point out that Joker's character changes quite a bit to and from, early depictions of him were quite goofy whilst he later became more dark and sinister (like the Joker Hamill did, although I've only watched a few episodes of the animated series).
na man when then joker first came about in the 50s he was just some crazy serial killer who came from no where. he started gettin all goofy in the 60s and 70s. then in the 80s he became darker and more homicidal again.
Good point, I guess its just good to see a new take on the Joker and it was obviusly going to be a departure from the Nicholson portrayal considering that this is a young joker rising up through the underworld of Gotham.
OH MY GOD Heath Ledger is mind-blowing !!!..After all the Oscar buzz and rave reviews this movie is getting, it has now become my most anticipated film of 2008..Heath Ledger for Oscar 2009 !!!!
chills up my spine. Simply perfection. Chilling, scary, and funny in every moment. THAT IS THE JOKER! Hands down, blows Jack's Joker clean out of the water, and puts to shame Mark Hamell's Joker which up intill this point was the best incarnation. Leger went out in a role that the great marlen brando couldent have touched!
The old man who says about not being intimidated by thugs is democratic senator patrick leahy of vermont. Hes a huge batman fan and by default a prime presidential candidate.
Boy I feel sorry for whoever is in that Best Supporting Actor category next year. Imagine them watching this and seeing the chances of winning diminish within seconds.
I think for a long time people have looked at comic book or superhero movies as just action movies that are not suppose to be considered for any major awards. But watching this and realism that Ledger put into this character and the hype of ocsar nominations, shows if the actor is good enough he can turn any role into an oscar worthy performance. Bravo, its just said that he is dead but i think this role will really define him and make his name known for years to come.
Wow. If you're an actor and you wanted to leave this world on a high note, you cannot get any better than that. Heath Ledger will become legend, I guarantee you.
Now that's Joker. I especially love the end, "You know, you remind me of my father....I HATED my father." I think that guy he threatens at the end is Sen. Leahy(I think that's how is name is spelt).
This is fantastic. The way he moves. The way his face contorts. Ledger is magic. He has brought to life a true menacing Joker. RIP Heath. It's a damn shame you had to leave us, but you left us with something that will be admired for the rest of our lives.
did you know that when they were filming this scene michael cane hadnt seen ledger as the joker yet so when he came onto the set ready to perform ledger scared him so much that he forgot his lines haha
That's kinda funny what you just said ...my first thought when I saw this was ...this is all a first take. It just seemed to flow so well, and what with the way Heath looked back at the noise of clanging metal behind him,how he emptied the glass of wine and didn't realise. Also, just before he grabs the old guy by the face, he slams his gun down three times ...as if to show his anger start to boil, but don't show it with an edit cut there? Sad that Heath(RiP)only got to see the first 6mins :(
do you know were harvey is do you know who he is? lol you know you remind me of my father i hated my father. scary shit poor old man lol dont get brave with the joker he will scare yeah lol
omg this is beyond acting this proformance belong in a class of it own heath gives the best proformance ever ive never seen acting like this in all of my 19 years of living thank you thank you you will be 4 ever missed
My local cinema in the UK is showing an advanced screening 23rd at the IMAX and I'm so there. Heath is the man, I was so chuffed when he was announced as The Joker.

This is absolutely amazing. Heath should get an Oscar on the basis of just the one scene! Can't wait to see the movie...
springrose147 3 years ago 3
I think for a long time people have looked at comic book or superhero movies as just action movies that are not suppose to be considered for any major awards. But watching this and realism that Ledger put into this character and the hype of ocsar nominations, shows if the actor is good enough he can turn any role into an oscar worthy performance. Bravo, its just said that he is dead but i think this role will really define him and make his name known for years to come.
Lostsanity90 3 years ago 3
Holy shit! I'm willing to kill to see this know. I've never bin so hyped to see a movie like this.

JBell06 3 years ago 2
Yeah that's Leahy.

Ledger's Joker will be THE bar raised. People will strive to reach that level of villainy for many celluloid years to come!

Terrifying. And this is pretty tame compared to what's probably GOING to happen in the film. It's going to be completely epic.

Notice how when the music starts to pick up they edit it. And cut to Ledger threatning the old man.

No wonder Heath was constantly exhausted, he looks as though he put absolutely everything he had into that performance. Brilliant.

Great Joker! This movie's gonna be badass

This is fantastic. The way he moves. The way his face contorts. Ledger is magic. He has brought to life a true menacing Joker. RIP Heath. It's a damn shame you had to leave us, but you left us with something that will be admired for the rest of our lives.
