When I was logging we sometimes moved a delimber by putting two logs down in a "V" shape about 8 feet apart at the wide end, then walked the delimber onto them so the tracks were perpendicular to the trees. The delimber body was then turned parallel to the trees and a skidder would pick up the trees where they touched at the bottom of the "V" and drag the delimber on the frozen bush roads to the next block a couple of miles away. It was a scary ride!
Same way was moved old Broyt excavator. Much smaller, steel wheels on other end and only brakes on under car, or not brakes, locks. bagget on truck´s bed, little pressing down and go on. Was much done in Finland till early 70". After that was also moved normal wheel machines same way, when there was something broken on under car. Normally it was mark Atlas what was towed that ways.
Brilliant idea. Poor truck though has to undergo a lot of downward strain on it's back axle. I don't suppose the idiotic health and safety people in the UK would approve though if the bucket slipped out the truck. But I like this idea.

How very smart. Not just quick, but it saves track and frame damage/wear.
