You'll find most of the people protesting againt dadt have never served in the military and would never raise their hands to die for their country. The decision to repeal dadt should fall on the soldiers and veterens.If they repeal dadt then they should have equal rights for all soldiers and have females and males sleep and shower together after all they are all soldiers, if a gay male can have eye candy to look at why cant a straight male?

If the military thinks that openly gay soldiers will damage the effectiveness and morale of the armed forces, then the military should be believed. Mostly because it makes sense. And if they get their way in the don't-ask repeal, and are allowed to prance around openly in the Army, they can expect an uptick in friendly fire...

You are wrong. That is not what the military says. Even Gen. Petraeus have stated under oath, before Congress that he believes the time has come to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell.

I second Malgacho, "Gen. David Petraeus said earlier this week that the time had come to consider ending the policy." and "Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has said that repealing the policy is the "right thing to do."

Of the 26 countries that participate militarily in NATO, more than 22 permit gay people to serve openly. Does this effect their "effectiveness" and "morale"? They seem to be doing great!
