final fantasy needs to go back the way it was which is dark. at the moment its too anime and i know its japanese but final fantasy 7 and 8 were the best because they hard dark stories and environment you did feel it was down to you to say the world!
@Ttadmer am glad! the story in recent final fantasys has been lacking, its like they concentrated on graphics and visuals effects rather than telling an awesome story by really capturing you and feeling part of it. its like that with movies at the moment all special effects and explosions

Its funny that on IGN it says FF13-2 though it sold well in Japan it didn't do as good as the 1st.Maybe its because you may have to DL stories to actually beat the game instead of ending at a crappy To Be Continued screen
This looks wonderful. The battle system was my favorite part of the last one, became amazingly deep once you got deep in the game. Alot of people say it plays itself in the beginning but that's in alot of RPGs, very basic in the beginning starting with "attack" and one frickin' magic spell. Lastly, people who say all you do is hit "X", show me a video of you beating a Long Gui with only hitting X and I'll admit I'm a idiot. Oh, and don't you mostly hit X in ALL classic Rpgs?

I'm re playing ff13 right now, and as I have played every FF game and completed them all, I can 100% that its one of the worst it's just proves that graphics don't mean squat in a FF game I would rather them make block characters and have an original product than them stick to this kind of thing. Long story short if something isn't broke don't try and fix it or you'll end up with this :( I'm still going to get it mind that's the kind of FF I am >:I shame on me.
@parasean22 Your kidding right? Since FF IV, they have been putting huge amount of work in each FF game. FF VII awed most people with the CGI cutscenes and pre-rendered back grounds and kept out doing themselves from VIII-IX and X was the BEST looking PS2 game when it came along with XII which still looks amazing for a past gen game. In short, SE has always put huge effort into the graphics and if they went back to blocks as you said, NO ONE would buy it.
I admit i'm not a big fan of XIII, but as a true fan you have an obligation to give every game a chance. I've played a bit of XIII-2 and have to say I had fun with it, more so then in XIII. Basically give it a chance guys, plus this OST is going to be amazing!!!!
I just love FF series. For me this is the best game series along with Tales and Dragon Quest. Japanese are truly geniuses in creating fantastic games and fantasy worlds.
I'm so anxiously waiting for my Crystal Edition.
And the best part is how free it is. You can explore so much! 3:37 i'm sold. That city is absolutely breath taking....
In my opinion Square Enix has delivered with FF 13-2. From a development point of view, I know they would deliver the very best of all things... if it were capable. The current gen systems do have their limitations. It's when you hit a perfect balance, that makes the difference between a bad, good or great game... one that attracts a fan base; or one that reaches criticism.
@levintine777 Not Necessarily. Though enemies do appear out of nowhere because of the crux, you will still be able to see them before engaging in a battle or retreating. With the new mog clock system three things can happen before a potential battle: A Preemptive strike which you recieve buffs for a period of time like haste, a normal battle, and a disavantage in which you will recieve debuffs for a period of time like slow.
What I don't wish to experience is you might be "forced" to fight them especially when you are in a less-populated area or don't have some kind of "Pokemon Repel", which is why I prefer the roaming style of FF12/FF13: You don't need to engage them right away
@elbert0p1kachu You won't be forced to fight enemy you come across. you can avoid battle by running away from them. Like I said before you can see them when they appear so it gives you time to retreat if you don't want to fight.

That's all fine and well they deserve the that right to say how it felt to have that FF magic back in the day. but in this new Era of FF brings a new magic.. a magic either Open-minded people from the old FF players to understand this new direction, and for New players that liked XIII, since you didn't experience the old FF magic and just adapted right into this new environment =). FF has always been about Lore, Magic, Storytelling, Suspense. Even love.
New FF Fans~ Welcome aboard, glad to have you with us! Old FF fans like myself have the tendency of say things like. Play the old FF games and you'll understand what I mean, or FF Sucked after IX. to me I don't think that's the Case, everything changes, though you weren't to see all of it from the beginning, I'm sure you have after liking XIII. Old FF fans~ I understand your plight in all this. But when time moves on.. everything does change, some good.. some bad.. but there's something you need to understand, with each FF game comes a ( Change) in something. Its bound to happen. You may have not liked the Paradigm system and I understand ( though I personality loved it). but using the same Mechanic over and over again just get outright boring.
Change is something I respect, but that doesn't mean all changes are good or that only narrow-minded people won't like the new direction. For many, it's not the change that's objectionable, but the result of that change.
FFXIII had major, major flaws but interestingly, Square-Enix has responded to the vast majority of those criticisms for FFXIII-2. The crystarium is no longer a shallow price of string, exploration is back in a big way etc. etc.
@Allforone246 I'm not necessarily a new FF player I've played III VII X (excluding tactics). I've never finished them and I will eventually. What I would love though is if they'd do a remake of the first with next gen graphics and use the "Warrior of Light" model from Dissidia as the protagonist. I think both New, Old and those interested in the series would appreciate that if that were to happen. Well said on your part.

Yes I've been a die hard fan of FF since I had the original FF on the NES, but what I loathed was the linear rubbish, the fact that I felt like I was watching a movie instead of playing a GAME, and when I was 'playing' they emphasized it being a total grindfest much too often. In the other installments, I didn't feel that. Even FF1 didn't feel like a grindfest AND THAT'S ALL YOU DID.
@darkslavechaos Skyward Sword I give to you because it takes Zelda to a whole new level.. but Skyrim.. no thanks... though I like the game.. it doesn't deserve 40/40... to many Glitches on the PS3 Version. It is a good game though.. but FFXIII-2 Music is Superb ( Sunleth Waterscape FTW) , Music that tells a story, Music with the lyrics that have meaning... There's a reason for everything, Its fine you don't like it and I respect that I'm just saying how I feel as to why I like it :D
Skyrim's glitches are an issue, but they're being fixed. The worst two (the 360 textures and the growing PS3 save file), were dealt with swiftly and after almost 300 hours and three characters, I have yet to encounter anything but minor graphical glitches myself.
The depth and scope of Tamriel coupled with the freedom of gameplay make Skyrim an experience you just can't get from any other game. It's truly wonderful. As good as SS, but very different.
As for the music. I don't like J-Pop and I don't like videogame music which is more intrusive than immersive. I don't want to be thinking about the music when something emotional happens; I want the music to harmonise with whatever's going on. The track on the video above just doesn't do that. It's tacky and in five years, it'll sound dated and even more out of place. Zelda and Skyrim do it better.
As I said, I may change my mind when I get my hands on it. I wouldn't rate it 40/40 right now, but maybe once I play the game things will click into place. The same thing happened with me an Skyrim ("I've never played an Elder Scrolls game before"), Zelda ("I dunno if a Wii game can be much more than casual fun") and many other games. It's just my cynical nature to expect the worst. Well, at least it means I get pleasantly surprised more than I get disappointed xDD
2) "..." doesn't ruin anything for me, just helps me find the quest easier nothing wrong with that.. I rather not run around the big world of pulse to find 1 quest without a marker. The marker doesn't change the quest at all, just helps you find the quest more easily.
3) We really didn't know what Moogle looked or sound like in our Modern Era till this game, and I don't find her Disturbing. Maybe they are ment to look that way in 3D
1) the soundtrak: some of the songs are purely "unlisteneable".
2) the fact that people with subquests are marked with a "..." ... it ruins the exploration to me.
3) That freaking mog!!!!!!!!!! in the first place, it is the only ugly moguri in all FF history (looks like they punched him in the face); his voice is irritating and most of all i hate the way he always cover your view.
AND PEOPLE ARE YOU BLIND OR SOMETHING!! JUST LOOK AT THIS VIDEO AND TELL ME WITH A STRAIGHT FACE THAT MOST OF THESE MAPS ARE " EXPANSIVE"... Its either

@Ataradesu They had a vision for XIII that wasn't to a lot of people's tastes. They then listened to the fan feedback and made changes to the sequel. A sequel that addresses a lot of the issues said people had. The result, a much better looking game. Personally, I enjoyed XIII, but it's nice to have a more traditional Final Fantasy experience.
@NASTAR01 hm, its true they addressed some complains and all, but what the hell made them think its a good idea to only have TWO playable characters this time around?? I think this is really gonna hurt the sales/reception overall. And i also hear this game will be quite a lot shortter than FF13 =/

FFXIII-2 is what FFXIII should be. But I don`t care, I liked FFXIII a lot, which means I will like FFXIII-2 even more. Hope the story will be cool, so as the final boss, which was a bit lame. I'm re playing ff13 right now, and as I have played every FF game and completed them all, I can 100% that its one of the worst it's just proves that graphics don't mean squat in a FF game I would rather them make block characters and have an original product than them stick to this kind of thing. Long story short if something isn't broke don't try and fix it or you'll end up with this :( I'm still going to get it mind that's the kind of FF I am >:I shame on me.

@parasean22 Your kidding right? Since FF IV, they have been putting huge amount of work in each FF game. FF VII awed most people with the CGI cutscenes and pre-rendered back grounds and kept out doing themselves from VIII-IX and X was the BEST looking PS2 game when it came along with XII which still looks amazing for a past gen game. In short, SE has always put huge effort into the graphics and if they went back to blocks as you said, NO ONE would buy it.

I admit i'm not a big fan of XIII, but as a true fan you have an obligation to give every game a chance. I've played a bit of XIII-2 and have to say I had fun with it, more so then in XIII. Basically give it a chance guys, plus this OST is going to be amazing!!!!

I just love FF series. For me this is the best game series along with Tales and Dragon Quest. Japanese are truly geniuses in creating fantastic games and fantasy worlds.
I'm so anxiously waiting for my Crystal Edition.
And the best part is how free it is. You can explore so much! 3:37 i'm sold. That city is absolutely breath taking....

In my opinion Square Enix has delivered with FF 13-2. From a development point of view, I know they would deliver the very best of all things... if it were capable. The current gen systems do have their limitations. It's when you hit a perfect balance, that makes the difference between a bad, good or great game... one that attracts a fan base; or one that reaches criticism.

@levintine777 Not Necessarily. Though enemies do appear out of nowhere because of the crux, you will still be able to see them before engaging in a battle or retreating. With the new mog clock system three things can happen before a potential battle: A Preemptive strike which you recieve buffs for a period of time like haste, a normal battle, and a disavantage in which you will recieve debuffs for a period of time like slow.

What I don't wish to experience is you might be "forced" to fight them especially when you are in a less-populated area or don't have some kind of "Pokemon Repel", which is why I prefer the roaming style of FF12/FF13: You don't need to engage them right away

@elbert0p1kachu You won't be forced to fight enemy you come across. you can avoid battle by running away from them. Like I said before you can see them when they appear so it gives you time to retreat if you don't want to fight.

That's all fine and well they deserve the that right to say how it felt to have that FF magic back in the day. but in this new Era of FF brings a new magic.. a magic either Open-minded people from the old FF players to understand this new direction, and for New players that liked XIII, since you didn't experience the old FF magic and just adapted right into this new environment =). FF has always been about Lore, Magic, Storytelling, Suspense. Even love.

Play the old FF games and you'll understand what I mean, or FF Sucked after IX. to me I don't think that's the Case, everything changes, though you weren't to see all of it from the beginning, I'm sure you have after liking XIII. I'm just going to say this because I care:
Old FF fans~ I understand your plight in all this. But when time moves on.. everything does change, some good.. some bad.. but there's something you need to understand, with each FF game comes a ( Change) in something. Its bound to happen. You may have not liked the Paradigm system and I understand ( though I personality loved it). but using the same Mechanic over and over again just get outright boring.

Change is something I respect, but that doesn't mean all changes are good or that only narrow-minded people won't like the new direction. For many, it's not the change that's objectionable, but the result of that change.
FFXIII had major, major flaws but interestingly, Square-Enix has responded to the vast majority of those criticisms for FFXIII-2. The crystarium is no longer a shallow price of string, exploration is back in a big way etc. etc.

What I would love though is if they'd do a remake of the first with next gen graphics and use the "Warrior of Light" model from Dissidia as the protagonist. Yes I've been a die hard fan of FF since I had the original FF on the NES, but what I loathed was the linear rubbish, the fact that I felt like I was watching a movie instead of playing a GAME, and when I was 'playing' they emphasized it being a total grindfest much too often. In the other installments, I didn't feel that. Even FF1 didn't feel like a grindfest AND THAT'S ALL YOU DID.

It is a good game though.. but FFXIII-2 Music is Superb ( Sunleth Waterscape FTW) , Music that tells a story, Music with the lyrics that have meaning... Skyrim's glitches are an issue, but they're being fixed. The worst two (the 360 textures and the growing PS3 save file), were dealt with swiftly and after almost 300 hours and three characters, I have yet to encounter anything but minor graphical glitches myself.
The depth and scope of Tamriel coupled with the freedom of gameplay make Skyrim an experience you just can't get from any other game. It's truly wonderful. As good as SS, but very different.

As for the music. I don't like J-Pop and I don't like videogame music which is more intrusive than immersive. I don't want to be thinking about the music when something emotional happens; I want the music to harmonise with whatever's going on. The track on the video above just doesn't do that. It's tacky and in five years, it'll sound dated and even more out of place. Zelda and Skyrim do it better.

As I said, I may change my mind when I get my hands on it. I wouldn't rate it 40/40 right now, but maybe once I play the game things will click into place. The same thing happened with me an Skyrim ("I've never played an Elder Scrolls game before"), Zelda ("I dunno if a Wii game can be much more than casual fun") and many other games. It's just my cynical nature to expect the worst. Well, at least it means I get pleasantly surprised more than I get disappointed xDD

1) Soundtrack is beyond amazing
2) "..." doesn't ruin anything for me, just helps me find the quest easier nothing wrong with that.. I rather not run around the big world of pulse to find 1 quest without a marker. The marker doesn't change the quest at all, just helps you find the quest more easily.
3) We really didn't know what Moogle looked or sound like in our Modern Era till this game, and I don't find her Disturbing. Maybe they are ment to look that way in 3D

Maybe i'll give it a shot.
But 3 things make me really annoyied:
1) the soundtrak: some of the songs are purely "unlisteneable".
2) the fact that people with subquests are marked with a "..." ... it ruins the exploration to me.
3) That freaking mog!!!!!!!!!! in the first place, it is the only ugly moguri in all FF history (looks like they punched him in the face); his voice is irritating and most of all i hate the way he always cover your view.
For the rest, i'll se on release.

@Ataradesu They had a vision for XIII that wasn't to a lot of people's tastes. They then listened to the fan feedback and made changes to the sequel. A sequel that addresses a lot of the issues said people had. The result, a much better looking game. Personally, I enjoyed XIII, but it's nice to have a more traditional Final Fantasy experience.
