  • Great choon!

  • Takes me back to a class era, didn't know there was a vid for this, thanks for posting!

  • I had bought this album "sound unheard". About the only American R&B/Soul acts doin' it the way they used to are The Rebirth, Five Point Plan, The Fuzz Band & Black Gold Massive.

  • This song had R&B crossover appeal. One of the many R&B Greats that were only heard in the Black market. I bought the LP just for this song!

  • Man; after they hit it big with Shackles and this song; alone with Hold On, they just disappear they were good.

  • Awww sookie sookie NOWWWWWWWW!

  • Before Black American music sold it's "Soul" to technology completely... sometime in the late 80s, IMO.

  • my mom killed the song i never knew how talented she is :)

  • @NeastraMusicgroup Oh how I loved this song!!!! You should have heard me when scream when I found it!

  • Take me back to 1986.

  • This was so dope back in the day it's a crying shame!

  • I loved this jam!!!

  • I love the place this takes me back to. Sitting in the family room watching videos...those were the days. Young happy and care free!

  • loves this song!!!! So hard to find it in the stores!

  • Those words make me want to fall in love again. Music had a true meaning in the 80's.

  • This is one of my all time favs...period!!! Definitely the best by R.J.'s Greatest Arrival!! And just to echo what has already been said...this was simply a wonderful time for music! I grew up during the 70's and by the time the 80's arrived I was old enough to truly understand the lyrics and emotion in the music of that day. I was falling in love and learning the true meaning of living during the 80's. Just a wonderful era that I will never forget! Thanks for posting this classic!!!

  • moonchild1973..thot it was cherrelle til she smiled..

  • PLEASE TAKE ME BACK TO THIS WONDERFUL TIME....!!!!

  • This song is going in my IPOD right now!!!!

  • This song and many others like it are the reason I keep listening to music from the 80's. Today's so=called R&B is missing what this has plenty of...SOUL!

  • Hold on was a nice jam but this was clearly their best kut

  • I wonder . Was all the good musi (R&B) released in 1986. check the dates of all the good ones all of em. Time travel

  • awesome, awesome record......reminds me of the days in the 80's when i was growin up in the CHI....

  • One of those classic gems that I play when I'm rolling down the ave and cats are saying to themselves, 'what is that guy playing... I ain't neva heard that befo...'... these youngins just don't get it...

  • something about that gap makes her sexy as hell...........lol.....im from the D and this group represented us well....very underated....i have the 12 inch of this tune but never knew there was a video for it or i forgot about it

  • You put this with Regina Belle,Alexander O'Neal, and Angela Winbush.....you gonna break some headboards!

  • She singing the hell outta this song. Sing lady sing!!!!!

  • I haven't seen this video in 20 something years.Great posting.

  • @byronbenguche check out the first plasma tv!!!!! They originated it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THANKS AGAIN kARAMELDREEM FOR THE MEMORIES...i REMEMBER THIS SONG. RJ LATEST ARRIVAL WERE THEY FROM dETROIT?

  • Boy, does she look like Cherrell. If that isn't her, she could be Cherrell twin sister in this video. She even sounds like her.

  • The female singer is credited ad DeDe.

  • @TheCalebson that's funny i was just thinking that same thing, either cherrell or pebbles.....

  • wooooooooooo

  • this song is going into my ipod right now!!!

  • look@ the original plasma tv!!!!

  • i love this song. years ago i sat down and wrote down the words to this song...

  • This has always been my song. I can sing the hell out of this! This song and Hold On are my two favorite songs by them; and of course Shackles was the jam as well. The lead singer lookes a lil bit like Cherelle on THIS video but in actuality she looks nothing like her.

  • me i always loved this song too.i always sung the hell out of this song. one time I had sat down and wrote down all the lyrics to this song this and baby im sorry if you remember check it out on here. baby im sorry and shackles is an oldie but goodie. did you check out the original plasma tv?

  • She does look a bit like Cherrelle, but it is DeDe Leitta I believe one of the original members of R.J's Latest Arrival. This song was such a change from the stuff they did before, I thought they were about to take off, but ended up being the best song they ever recorded.

  • she also kind of sounds like Cherrelle and Patrice Rushen too.

  • yes she does....

  • so i'm not the only one who thinks it! lol

  • lol!!!

  • my fav song by them is baby im sorry and this was a very underrated group!!!!

  • yes besides baby im sorry; check out the original plasma tv....

  • This was & still is my jam!!! Girlfriend singing lead looks alot like Cherelle...

  • yes!!!!

  • Good stuff from the 80s!! Today's music is so pitiful....

  • One of my favourite 80s tracks - a really big sound at Thorne and Bedford

  • that intro beat at :39 oOH get it!

  • Comment removed

  • classic and beeautiful! and i agree with msfarzee, she does remind me of cherrelle.

  • What a great track! Good music is timeless. Thanks for posting this.

  • Beautiful song! Takes me back to 1985 in Kensal Rise London, with a tape recorder listening to MIKE GEE on Radio TKO.

  • thanks for the post. I wasn't sure if this was the same woman from shackles but now I know. Einah you're the bomb with the 80s r&b.

  • I couldn't wait to see video on Video Soul back in the day...OMG...

  • Thank you for posting! This made me smile and have nice 80's flashback. No one makes simple, pure love songs like this anymore.

  • I didn't think so at the time but ...She reminds me of Cherelle kinda

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.....YO, THIS SLOW JAM BY RJ'S LATEST ARRIVAL WAS THE JOINT--DONT ALLOW ANYONE TO TELL YOU DIFFERENT. i HAVE THIS SONG ON ONE OF MY SLOW JAM CASSETTES. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

  • Still rocking my two-toned hair too! LOL AND my 80's jams...but you know the 80's style is back now! I do a few highlights not too wild!

  • When are they getting back together??

  • the best!!! thanks for the upload

  • THis is our era..y'all!

Good electronic synthesizers and drums...two toned hairdoos...damn@! the 80's....Cool!

  • Cherelle sounds like her I think they were out first. Music sounded so good then and the videos were so cute and innocent. This one takes me back.

  • She had that gap in her mouth...

  • Garry Glenn wrote!!

    Nice & Mellow !

  • classic classic classic tune.. really this song remind you to the 80's !!! the best decade!!!

  • Oh I loved this.... too much!

  • Dam this songs brings back a lot of memories, i was like 15 or 16 when this came out, im in my late 30 s now.

  • I graduated from high school in 1983 and RJ's Latest Arrival was one of my FAVORITE groups! I also liked Midnight Star, Enchantment, The Dramatics, and One Way. Today's music cannot compare to the old school R&B I love so much!

  • @biggurl1965 It's a tragedy that music has gone from what we got from RJ's Latest Arrival and others to what we have now! There are some good artists out there if you really look for them but the days when they were on the radio all the time are long gone!

  • @biggurl1965 so true!!! you have good music taste.....

  • @biggurl1965 Every group you mentioned except Midnight Star is from Detroit.

  • timeless classic!

  • I bought this tape in 86. A year before I graduated high school. Brings back alot of memories. They will never make music like this again sad to say. So hold on to the greats from the past and pass them on to the younger generation.

  • AHHH!!!!The good ole days of high school&college when we had real r&b and hip hop stayed in its place!!Must be the youngsters that thought she was Cherrelle!!

  • I am from that era and she does sound a little like Cherelle to me. I dont fault them for that. They both sing well though.

  • Ok, i did the research, the lady's name is Deedee Leitta

  • yeah you are right, my uncle told me the same thing DeeDee Leitta is the girl singing this song

  • Comment removed

  • Oh yes is Cherrelle trust me

  • Looks a lot like Cherelle with a bad grill. Sounds like her 2

  • My mama loves this song...She's where I get my old school tunes from

  • chill out tune at its best......

  • WHAT??!!!! Cherelle was not the lead singer of this group!!!!!! She might favor her somewhat, but that is not her trust me. My ex wife used to date one of the guys in the group. Can't remember his name but all I remember is that she told me he had a bad eye and would wear sunglasses to disguise that. RJ and the lead female had a baby together that they were trying to cover up at that time for whatever reason. Good group, real funky and smooth tracks. Ahh the 80's groups.

  • never knew that cherelle was the lead singer of this group i maybe crazy or something but dont cherelle looks alot like keisha coles?

  • No, that's not Cherelle.

  • This song is the song that was on the air when I first kissed my wife.

  • did you see Elise Neal in this video

  • I really wish that these new artists of today write some music that sounds like this...I miss these kind of jams!!

Thank you for this posting. Much love!

  • I really think so. Garry Glenn who is a writer of this song, has passed away in 1991. I miss him and his beautiful music.

  • ..Damn my ignorance! ..always loved this tune, never knew it was RJ's,it shows you that you CAN be learning every day!thanks for the post..and the education,(..bows politely)..and backs away...

  • this was the JAM!

  • Takes me to my childhood. My sister played this song out!

  • I awoke to this subscrib.Attrell, So beautiful, music, dancers everything Heavenly. Love 80's music some of the best music came to us at that time. Have a great day to all that listen to these wonderful performers. Peace and Love! Nancy

  • WOW!! I remember this song. I never thought anyone would bring this video up but I forgot who sang it!! Those were the days, which we may never get back :(

  • LOVE your comment, I agree so much is lost when tunes like this get buried in the pile of forgotten, Attrell subsc. these and allows me to get a glimpse into music that would never cross my life due to the way I was raised. <Love those dancers, they are so Heavenly, too. I would like to go back to much more "GOOD" from the past, BUT we have our plans to fullfill, may we awaken to the "Truth", Who we really are + HOW we got to this God-forsaken Earth. "Remember-Dream-Awaken" Peace a + Love! Nancy

  • it's hard to believe i can't even find this song to download!!!!! I' forever in love with this group and song!!!!

  • I found this song on a CD. I can e-mail it to you if you want...

  • please!!!

  • I always wanted to be one of the dancers in this video. :-)

  • I used to jam the hell outta this tune back in the day! still jam it even now sometimes!

  • Cant beleive i found this jam! my all time favorite love song!!! straight gangsta!!! took me back to 86! thanx!

  • An Instant Classic no doubt about it.

  • I was looking for this song ,and I was dying to hear this song.

  • yeah this was a forgotten song for real...i used to sing the hook to try to get people to remember it, but they never could...all they remember was "shackles on my feet"...thank god i work in radio now...i can hear whenever i want, lol...peace

  • I knew about this song!!! This used to be my shit!!! This one, and Hold on from the same album!!!

  • wow...i had forgotten how much i loved this song...

  • I can't believe i just ran across this. I remember these time very well. The drummer is my brother, Mooch. He's current the Percussion Director for Inkster Marching Band in Inkster Michigan, and he's still bad. This was one of my favorite song. I remember RJ, DeeDee, Eric, Greg and Peety, I can's see who the guitarist is, but it look like Art, I'll have to ask Mooch. I Love Them Still

  • This is my favorite type of music.

The awesome sound of R&B Bands of the 80's.

RJ's Latest is one of my all time favorites along with Starpoint, SOS Band, Skyy, and Midnight Star. No R&B of today can touch these guys!!!

  • I have this album.....wow....takes me back to 8th grade!!! Good posting!

  • i was in the 10th

  • I still have this CD in my collection the year was 1987!

  • I forgot about this song.What a wonderful song.deejaygrl

  • This song brings back so many memories! Thanks for posting this oldie-but-goodie!

    LJ

  • LenoraJaye,

I can hear the influence in your vocals. Very cool. Thank you for sharing this with me.

  • The jizzz--am back in the day--thanks for the posting...

  • hi

    kkkkkkk

  • Man,You keep finding those obscure songs that I thought no one else would remember!!!

I remember recording this song off of the TV on my cassette player, because I didn't have enough allowance money to buy this AND my Voltron! LOL...

    Thanks!!!!

  • I am not exactly commenting on the video but the group. I think it was this group that had a song titled " Hey Crystal" (I think the chorous starts with .. Hey Crystal you are my little girl, you always find a way to brighten my world ....). I wish someone would upload this one it brings back memories. Many songs had more depth then. Like you have all said lyrics had more meaning then.

  • I've been looking for this song for so long. I'm SO crying now! WOW!

    Is that Charelle?

I love her gap..I have one also. I'm biased. LOL

  • no it isn't Cherelle..

  • group wuz soooo underated. brings back lovely high school memories.

  • you are right!!!!!

  • Classic!

  • ooohhh this takes me back to high school. I used to love me some RJ's latest Arrival! I espcially like the bridge to this song.....when life gets complicated, i think about ya baby, i know with you i can reach the top listen baby..... aaahhh lyrics that mean something!

  • You are so right... These are my favorite lyrics...

...I'd outshine all the stars ALL for the heaven in your arms... How beautiful!

  • yhat gap is sexy!!!! why you think michael strahan for the giants rocks the gap!!!1

  • Is she related to Cherelle?!? I always thought they resembled a lot. There's also an actress from the 80s that looked like her named Kelly Jo Minter.

  • Nice song by a good group but couldn't the sista afford braces?

  • you and me both cheetie72..this is along time comming....please sent more songs from the 80's .

  • Now u know this is the shit!!! Memories of the 12th grade at Little Rock Central HS!! When life was not at all complicated!!! Thanks for posting this song Luv it!!!!

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOh shit yall! I've been lookin' for this cut for a loooooooooooong time. Artist don't make cuts like this no more.

  • I LOVED this song in the 7th grade!

Reminds me of autumn in jr. high, liking boys for the first time, wearing stirrup pants with the loose fitting shirts, and anxiously awaiting my braces to be removed.

  • What year was this? Currently, I am 33 and I remembered when this song was the shit. I am thinking the mid 80's.

  • fall of 1986. I was a 7th grader.

  • I learned the words as soon as I heard it at 12... I mentioned in the Sherrick "Just Call" video that 12 year old's (I'm 34 by the way) today listen to crap. Love songs just aren't written the way they use to.

Pretty Ricky is though of as a romantic group but they leave NOTHING to the imagination.

  • This was the jam!!! R.J. Latest Arrival, I still rock this joint.

  • DeDe's striking resemblence to 'Cherelle' made me think that Cherelle was moonlighting on the side! lol! I truly loved this song.

  • wow this song is tight, even after repeated listens...
