  • I've been lucky during my transition to have had understanding family members, friends and coworkers. I am so glad I chose to stick it out. I wish there was a federal law to protect future generations from the horrible sting of discrimination. We deserve the dignity every human being should have.

  • Dana- great to see you speaking out. I admire your courage, how articulate you are, and your three patents! Come by FCU sometime. Susan TW

  • Why is it that a mix of people, all from different groups, very diverse... has so much trouble getting along?

    Trans-Healthcare is not a betrayal to human-kind, it's compassionate.

  • Dignity and safety for all !! There are 1 or 2 per 1000 births that are transgender or intersex . People can be born that way it is not a new phenomenon but there is so much ignorance and hatred towards that. People are still people - human beings with hopes and ambitions . It seems ironic that in America - the land of the free and the home of the brave that there is such primitive savagery still existing in society today. The UK is much more advanced !! Everyone is protected by the law !!

  • This vedio was so moving. I feel I am a transgenderist, I have not transitioned at fully as I can not go with out work. My co workers all know who I am and are comfertable with it however I do not know whather my employer wiuld be against it. I work for an indian cassino and though I know tribes refer to it as two sperited I do not know wather my job would be safe or not. I would love to transition if i had the option.

  • what a beatiful video.... thanks for posting it!

  • Wow, what a moving video. Had some very powerful moments in there. definitely favoriting and liking this.

  • I agree we should all have the right to safe workplaces. Check out TEEI's new video and add to your fav list.

  • Thank you for this.

  • Please sign the petition to tell the APA (American Psychiatric Association) that transsexualism is NOT a mental illness

  • @HenryHallint I didn't know that it was considered a mental illness

  • @HenryHallint where do I sign?-Remember though, the DSM also lists coffee drinking and pot smoking as mental disorders.Personally, I keep wondering how there can be an authority on psychology, considering all people are crazy, including the "experts" who wrote the books...

  • Great doco , very good awareness, I have known of a TG Women that worked for microsoft and had transitioned on the Job there , I truley think that if employers support it then work production and loyalty , etc. will go up 10 fold , but the reality still is Transgender and homophobia are obsticles for those seeking work whom have already transitioned !!! Its very hard , I know it all to well myself !!!!

  • Thank you for uploading this video.

  • I thank the people of living light who made this video! Blessed Be and may Happiness and Peace always be with you and yours!

  • I think this video should be shown everywhere 24-7 365 days a year to show how beautiful people can shed the light on what the ugly people of this world do and the damage they cause! KUDOS FOR THE PEOPLE OF LIVING LIGHT WHO MADE THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO!

  • I second that, word for word, my feelings precisely.

Everyone needs to see this at least once a year.

  • Thanks for uploading this video !.

Yes indeed : "Dignity and Safety for Transgender and Transsexual People".

I'm adding it to a special transsexual, transgender-playlist.

    Gaygreetings, from Holebis ♥♂♂,♀♀♥

  • I live in Mssouri and starting August 2009 there is a Law that Protects from Discrimination against Sex and Gender...

  • BradinMe: contact GLAD's Legal InfoLine at 1-800-455-GLAD (M-F 1:30-4:4:30 EST) for information and resources.

  • I am a FIrefighter about to transition from FTM. I have many concerns. Can I be fired for being trans? I have not found anyone with experience transitioning on the job. Can you help me?

  • Yes, this is a wonderful educational video. You get to meet some wonderful people here. I sent it on to share, \

My first introduction, came as a new physician with a huge doctor group. I had a new patient who shyly asked me if I would provide his hormone shots. "Of course,' I said, thinking...any doctor who believed in his oath would. But even here in the SF Bay Area..he had asked over 200 physicians.. NO wonder he was shy. Still my favorite patient.

  • Thank you for sharing this video. It is good that our issues are highlighted. Companies, as well as the public, do need to be educated. We should not allow ourselves to inherit the same levels of discrimination as the Gay and Lesbian Community had years ago when finding work.

  • YAY! Great to see this here, Gunner, thanks for posting the link on facebook. More more more! Is there a video of this caliber of young people, high school age, perhaps, that could be coupled with this one, and shown in health ed. classes in hi school AND to teachers as part of mandatory diversity training or whatever the current euphemism is for id-ing and breaking down bias, teacher training?

  • Excellent video. We're sharing it at The GCRM Media Club where we network and share quality GLBTQ media in support of the Gay Civil Rights Movement. Thanks for this important message. :)

  • This is fantastic, and so true. I work to help folks in New Orleans get their homes back together. They know that I'm a Trans woman and it doesn't matter. I help.

  • Being 6 months into transition at age 51 I needed to see this video. I'm on disability so the work place isn't a problem, but I do go to the VA for medical care. So far no incidents but still cautiuos when I'm there for appts. It's scarry when you hear of the violence toward transgender people, but I cannot let that deter my journey to be me a transgender woman who is caring, honest & loving.

  • I've really got to hand it to you, this is a beautifully made film. Congratulations

    Christine Burns

  • @ Christine Burns. Why don't you make a similar film, Christine. The NHS - especially the ones that look for every loophole they can not to employ me as a Systems Trainer (even though I'm ex iSoft PLC with 4 years experience in training and development with both primary and secondary care sectors). Maybe - since they have been your clients, you can have a chat. Personally, I have found them a dead loss. Hence I have lodged a complaint.

  • Very nice! Thank you

  • Dana: "You want to perform when your company tells you you're important to them."

This was true in my case. I'm a senior software engineer now 20 years with the same company where I transitioned on the job in 1989. I have won numerous employee recognitions and kudos from our customers, and I have brought in millions in revenue over these two decades. There's a lot more detail about my journey on my website, but suffice to say I'm very grateful for my job and for my life as a TS woman.

  • God bless you all. I care and God cares.

  • I was deeply moved by the stories of these brave men and women! Asked by the mayor of Indianapolis to sit on its Equal Opportunity Advisory Board, I helped rewrite the city's long-neglected Human Rights Ordinance to include protections for the LBGT community.

I wish wed have had this video then. What a wonderfully moving and educational piece it would have been for not only the City County Council members, but for the community at large. Thank you for this video and for posting on YouTube.
