A splendid presentation as always with excellent images - can't figure out why Cupid is bringing the girl a huge bottle of ink however - too Freudian for me I fear.
I like Shilkret because no matter he has to play he always does with the best taste. Fox- trot, waltz, with singer stars or without them he is unbeatable!
Catchy tune and rhythm, and the direct and unaffected singing is indeed most appealing. And the artwork is, to quote the ad at 0:14, "le plus chic et le meilleur"
This is just so good. Belle Mann was such a superb singer, that I could listen to her recordings for hours at a time. Nat Shilkret's Orchestra was a great too.
Thank you, Corrie. For me, Belle Mann was much better than three Helen Kanes put together. She had a very modern style of singing - without Helen Kane's babyish minoderie - yet still managing to keep charmingly in her singing that "it" flavour of female vocals of late 1920s
