  • that girl is so fucking annoying

  • Also the sword is called a xiphos, and it was a short stabbing sword, not a hacking sword like this guy is making out.

  • Decapitated on the spot by his commander? During a shock combat battle on the front line? This guy knows nothing about ancient history or facts let alone the martial punishment in the different poleis' armies. They did not decapitate or kill their own soldiers ffs, they had courts and established rules back home to exile and punish them in a civilised manner! This guy has very very little facts for someone claiming to be a specialist reconstructing ancient pankration.

  • Where was this guy during Deadliest Warrior?

  • molon labe malakes tourki.

    xpisi augi.

  • @koringn I know what you represent... from the universal community: your a disgrace to your history... get out of that rabbits whole and become a normal person.

  • @failingwithin fuck yourself.

  • @koringn Since when a Greek Nazi allows himself typing in "greeklish" as you call it? Now, now... maybe you should take a class on what you actually represent you short dumb motherfucker...

  • @failingwithin if only you knew dickhead you would not be talking to me like this, just drop it, before you start stumbling on your own words..

  • @failingwithin ive got a feeling your not greek at all but a cypriot moulapi..

  • @koringn haha no man i'm not any of that, i'm british... i just have a few greek friends who tell me about different things... hence my knowledge about hrisi avgi

  • @failingwithin well then im sorry for cursing at ya in greek, but mate whats been done to my country is whats happening to brittan, one everyone is greek (english) in your case then all of a sudden there are 1million fucking indians and albanians on your door step....

    how would you feel?

  • @koringn Hahahah yeh mate I know what you mean. Well, you see I wouldn't have any problem with that. I think the negative result is that these populations go to other countries for a better life, while they'll just get slapped by life's bitchiness, so they turn out doing bad things like drugs, stealing etc. Now that I don't like! But still I don't like myself causing this even more by not treating them right. They had a hard time already and they only come here to be loved.

  • @koringn They don't demand anything from us, they just wish for a chance to work on our side with the same sense of respect and humble stance towards each other. You can't blame them, all we do is put them through fight for survival and blame them on top of that. I think that any of us if put through such conditions would act the same and if not, then you deserve a great deal of things my friend, yet think that they haven't been educated like you and I.

  • @koringn their governments shadow their indipendent thinking with fear and other bullcrap, and that's just not right. Just say this to yourself and you may catch my drift: "I am judging and hating on people who might wake up one day and say... 'well, i think i'll perform a suicide explosion today, just cause that's what i came here to do, be born and raised and then explode'." Cheers

  • i take great pride in been Greek dont matter if you try to call me white

  • she needs to shut up lol

  • @mezmerak Seriously. "ahuh, aahhh, right, right, no way, okay, oh," very irritating

  • it's really interesting watching this, but her fake excited attitude anoys the hell out of me. "wooow, yeah, wooow, ok, yeah, uh huh, woooow."

  • the best in the world!!!

  • MALAKIAS.AS A BLOOD LINE SPARTAN,THE SWORD / STICK, IS USED TO CREATE DISTANCE WITH A BLOW.WHAT FOLLOWS LATER IS IS UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL.

  • She talks to much as he talks. It's kind of annoying. >.>

  • i want this to be in my area

  • I was looking for actual competitions/tournaments but that was pretty cool- I ended up watching both of them. Great job on this! Thanks for posting.

  • Can't understand why people show so much skepticism about pankration. It is re-discovered (or even re-evented) in the same way greco-roman wrestling and boxing were lost and rediscovered at some point of history. Sure there are additions or lost parts but still it can be genuine enough. There's been a lot of research done by very important greek trainers and champions.

  • what does platano means in greek?

in spanish platano means plantain. lol.

i believe spanish and greek are family language because i find many similarities between them.

  • platanos ... is a tree and a village in crete

  • Yes you are right the Spanish and all Latin languages had many many words cominig from Greek language. Also in all European languages you find many Greek words. Platanos is plantain and you can find with that name many villages in Crete and all over Greece.

  • tht bitch REALY DOESNT CARE SHUT UP ha

  • the grocery bag story really got to her

    lol

  • He shows some good stuf even in part 1 of this interview. The thing that sucks is that in the TV series THE HUMAN WEAPON, they show him in Greece showing his stuff making it look like he trains there.

  • This guy is hilarious. His techniques and explanations leave a little to be desired however. I love how he explains the second row replacing a tired front rower...priceless.

  • I'd like to believe this guy, but personally I think he's making it all up.

  • Well I was always curious as to how the Greek were good fighters I had no idea we had like our own MMA fighting style I only really knew about Boxing and Wrestling had no idea they kicked and stuff pretty epic.

  • hes not. Ive trained with him and there is alot of literature from ancient greeks talking about what hes saying.

  • This is how pioneering any art is. Some accept, others don't believe. The job for us instructors of this art is to prove it to the world, that we can hold our own in a ring with any style and give them a serious run for their money.

    ERROSO =)

  • In order for this to be true stuff, it has to be based on 1) an unbroken line of teaching (of which there is none, or 2) a manual describing combat techniques (of which I strongly doubt one exists). Therefore, he's got to be making it up. My mind's open, though, if he can show his sources.

  • i really wish the bitch in the background would just shut the fuck up already..... "aaah , ok. REAALLY OMG!" "GOTCHA!!", "OHH THATS NICE"

  • @cr1tterp0wer she's annoying but she has a nice arse

  • without a doubt he really knows his stuff. And hes right similar principles apply to boxing and other arts, him lifting the shield and coming back with a sword slash at around 4:04 is similar to a boxing boxer covering for a hook and coming back with a right cross. God damn i love being Greek lol

  • @Dimitraki91 amen to that.

that said, a strapped shield was, according to a few reenactors, including a guy on here called lindybeige, check him out.

the aspisis quite bad 1-1 because of the way your arms in it, it seems designed near purely to encourage ppl to stay in formation. (not a bad idea considering about 80+% of ancient greeces hoplites were local townsmen who trained and drilledpart time.

  • @elgostine

I disagree with that. The shield is so big that, as the guy says, it would cover everything. It wouldn't matter that you can't move it out in front of you as much or as reach as low as with a hand grip shield, because it's so big you don't have to. Your legs might be a little vulnerable if the guy has a big axe or something that he can hook around the back of your legs, but Greeks didn't use anything like that, and that's who the aspis was designed to fight against.

  • @elgostine (continuing my last post) I think the leverage you get from the strap and grip instead of just hand grip, and thus the ability to use the shield as a weapon (the show Deadliest Warrior on Spike proved it can be deadly) outweighs the slight chance someone might have a weapon that can attack your legs.

  • Thought this was always fought in the nude?

  • no you talking about Gymnopaedia they back then they oil them self up and dance ready for battle, this is how they fought, man greek were sneaky on there battle ,remember seeing the history channels where they have all sort of shields defending arrows, its funny now we use mind control to make war now these days and back then they had stragies and be sneaky

  • Man the camera keeps zooming in on an angle on her perv

  • Κοίτα ρε πόσο ασχολούνται οι ξένοι με την αρχαία οπλιτική τέχνη και εμείς τα έχουμε γράψει εκεί που δεν πιάνει μελάνι... Κρίμας..

  • just for the record pankration was an ALL greek discipline and not of the spartan origin. Supposedly Theseus of Athens or heracles of thebes. which is a long shot from sparta by the way.

  • lol i forgot to finish it.sorry bout that. So...ahem... Supposedly Theseus of Athens or Heracles of thebes were inventors of pankration which is a long shot from sparta.(not that they weren't great or anything it just pisses me off that there's so much of greece which is brilliant and all you can think of is bodybuilders in leather underwear)

  • i second that

  • ok dude i go to that school asnd he told me he just used the spartans as an exaple and to make the class a little more fun even though its pain stakeing...
