Deborah could never be the new whitney because the old whitney has never went anywhere. Deborah's voice isn't even close to as powerful as whitney's is. On same script different cast whitney was in her declining period. If they would have done that song 17 years ago she would have ran all through deborah. Not necessarily she does not remind of Nippy at all besides the vibrato and powerful. Whitney does way more complex runs and utilizes her head and superhead registers angelic in prime. This what female singers lack today. They may have powerful voices but lack Whitney's tone and agility in registers!

Im just watchin this for the first time on TVOne and Deb sang the ish out this song. Best wishes to her with baby #3 on the way (I didnt know she had 2 already!)

Deborah starts to struggle a bit when Patti comes on because she is being all intimidating and stuff trying to be better than Deb. I love Deborah and think Labelle is a show off.

Oh stop it! Patti isn't competing. She likes to sing and that's it. She doesn't need to show off everyone knows her vocal range and capabilities. Legend nothing to prove.

i didnt think of her as "competing" exactly but I did hear another song they were singing on and when Patti chimed in it seemed like Deborah was getting drowned out a bit..i still like em both
