  • bro i agree with others.,here you work like a horse, and loading 200lb logs is dam tuff, but i have a mantis splitter (electic and it saves me a ton of work, but bro you are a tuff son of a gun~!

  • I think I threw my back out just watching this....lol

  • Why is he splitting wood in the winter someone asked? Because wood splits better when it had frost in it. They also mentioned wood needing to "cure", didn't you hear him say he was cutting dead trees hence they would already be well seasoned. Great video and congrats on the new spliter.

  • Just because you can don't mean you can do it forever, save you back dude, it's the only one you'll ever get. I still cut wood but cut the big sticks a little shorter so I don't strain.

  • dude your a maniac with that anvil.....how many hernias do you have ....youll be on the blues before you know it ...keep on pluggin

  • Us Redneck are definitely creative and hard working when the cause is good .

  • @highcountrytimber amen to that!

  • I remember cutting and splitting wood for many years. Now I walk to the thermostat when I get cold.....

  • Dude you get high marks for placing and balancing a 200 lb log on a bathroom scale ON ICE.

  • I think maybe in a former life, you used to be an Executioner in the middle ages. ....who chainsawed the logs for you then?

  • learn the proper way to swing a maul. lift maul straight into air, bend knees, compress with swing

  • It is quite clear you are not afraid of work. However, you can slit those big rounds way easier by "peeling" them. Aim to take off 2-3 inches of the outer edge, and work your way around the whole log. Then go for the center.

And goddamn dude you make that 12lb maul look like a flyswatter.

  • all look dead to me have fun chopping!

  • weird way of splitting but you were accurate and got the job done you should try scraping the ice from where you are standing tho haha

  • Don't stand on ice when you are doing that! You are going to hurt yourself pretty bad.

  • my dad had a 79 chev. he did the same thing poured gas in the carb .

  • ICE, CRAZY HILLBILLY,CHEVY TRUCK, WEDGE MAUL, ICE? LOGSPLITTER?

  • When I split wood - i use another log to save may maul or "Block Splitter" we call in Australia. Also having it higher saves your back too! - Just a thought!

  • 5:25...OMG. That is an interesting way to swing a splitter. I think I'd hurt myself using that technique.

  • Your vid made me laugh a little - for all the years I was doing the same thing. With a Monster maul. With a plain steel handle, no grip. After 15 minutes, I'd have to sit down and knock off some of the sweat icicles off my stache and chin. Good times. from Ohio.

  • positive: you seem to have an excellent work ethic and are strong.

negative: you seem to be dumb as a brick and you are going to hurt yourself, and that can't be un-done. Why are you starting to split wood IN THE WINTER??? It needs to cure 6-12 months. It may burn, but a good deal of the heat goes to evaporating the moisture (will rot pipes and cause creosote too!). Guard your health...exercise is great...jarring your joints brings life-long pain.

    Best wishes to you.

  • @kenfo0 do not assume i burn wet wood, i split it and then stack it to dry. I have built my own wood splitter now check out the video

  • @barta1967 @barta1967 what video? does it show your home-made splitter? If that wood isn't stacked in relative warmth for 6 or more mos, you are burning wet wood. I have a buddy waited too long last year, he complained of how much wood he was burning...about 50% more than the year before. No amount of science could get it through to him that you burn more wood with more than about 15% moisture content. His chimney was about clogged w/creosote all the way down by the outlet of the stove.

  • @barta1967 I just got a slip on 4-way splitter for my wood splitter. Worked pretty good, even with oak on about a 25ton machine. I may weld a device on next year to hold the pieces together more closely until fully split. Sometimes the horizontal split isn't complete because the wood spreads out. It is pretty easy to pull apart at that pt, but maybe I can improve it. I am going to work out a whole system next year from being able to port logs to a cutting area, to lifting big rounds, etc.

  • i think that was sasafrass or how ever its spelled

  • i that a scottsdale k10 or k20 cuase my dad had a k20 that was an absolute beast

  • fire wood heats ya up at least 4 times!

    1 Chop

    2 Stack

    3 Lug

    4 Burn

  • lol I have a hard time lifting a 110 pound outboard off my boat, can't imagine trying to lift one of those logs...

  • Log splitters are excellent, definatly worth the investment. But I still love to chop wood!!

  • nice bro, but u really should use wedges when u split those big red oak rounds!! it will save your back, i cut wood also up in northern california, i use the same maul ur using but we always use wedges, try it an tell me how smart i am!! lol

  • What an animal. lol

  • u need a god damn wood splitter...........man i cant watch you do that.... kills me......

  • Great video, no way i could have lifted that 200 lbs of Oak, (bad back) .. Great video though .. stay warm.. I burn wood all Winter also..

  • Damn dude! 210lb round of oak. What a cool vid you made. I wanted to see what model saw you use. You also might want to look for an old 3/4ton Chevy 4x4 4spd. (IMO) Great job on the vid. I love going up in the mtns cutting wood. We cut mostly lodge pole pine or desert pinion pine. (Nothern UT)

  • god you are a work horse......... someone really needs to get you a log splitter. its killin me watchin

  • pretty impressive handling 200 pounds like that. Just watch out and not injury your back

  • There is just something special for me about getting firewood every year to heat my home. It is a great feeling of self reliance, worth the hard work, and also lets my dollar go that much further for other things rather than giving money to the gas company. Great video!

  • i like the old chevy! a little body work and a tune up, then u gotta ur self a real tough old chevy

  • awesome vid

  • That was an excelent video. You found some good burning wood..One question why not do the firewood cutting in warm weather? But hey i know there are reasons i was cutting and splitting wood in the snow too. This year i am ahead of things allready started on my winter wood supply.Oh do you think you mite show us your stove love to see it burning?Hey your truck is young mine is 67 dodge and its been loaded with wood till the tires were allmost flat too. Thanks

  • well me and my brothers like cutting wood in the winter so the saws stay cooler and so we dont overheat

  • Thats a good ideal.Never thought about the engines over heating.

  • @arkansastrash320 yeah I like cutting in the winter also.. Less bees, flies, ants, spider and other crap like that.

  • Yeah totally agree with you.But when the wind is blowing and its extremely cold then i don't want to be outside cutting wood.

  • Ben Franklin "he who cuts his own wood is warmed twice". plus i heard once when some wood is frozen it splits easier

  • Yeah i have heard that too that some just won't split unless its frozen. When some is green it won't split either.Sycamore don't split good for me green or dry Ha Ha..Yeah i get the same feeling after i have cut and stacked my wood good feeling.

  • 2:58

thats not even a situation well for a chevy it is

    not for a ford

  • there you go a chevy gettin stuck in 1 inch of snow

    buit ford tough

  • this shit is great haha i love the videos with the junk cars lol

  • are you the surviorman?
