To test how much of a fan I am of Rush, lemme see if I can name all of those songs: Your opening song is Mystic Rhythms from Power Windows. Fly By Night: By -Tor and the Snow Dog Caress of Steel: Bastile Day 2112: 2112 - Overture A Farewell to Kings: Xanadu and Cygnus X - 1 Hemispheres: Cygnus X - 1 Book II Permanent Waves: The Spirit of Radio Moving Pictures: YYZ Signals: Losing It Grace Under Pressure: Distant Early Warning Power Windows: Marathon Hold Your Fire: Turn The Page
this is jeenious! would u b kind enough to send me a copy of the track ?"! i would really appreciate it cos it looks great to play along to! cheers...comment me bak on my profile!
Does anyone know what the name of the Rush song he is playing starting at 1:28? It's that little riff they sometimes play at the end of Tom Sawyer when they play it live.
Well done sir. Im only 18 but im a drummer and i don't know where i would be without neal pearts influence on me. Probably the best Rush colletion video i have every seen. Awesome
Wow! You're a great palyer..Your presentation is flawless. I've been a RUSH fan for 30 years and know much about the band and Neil Peart. Neil is a good man who has lost much..I know, thru your presentation you feel this too! Great job!!!!!!!!!
too bad you didnt have tom sawyer in there. thats a greeeeeeat one in there and have to have lots of forearm muscle because your pretty much playing 16th notes through the whole thing! XD but anyways, IT SUCKED!!! JK JK
Dude!...That was amazing! That was the best I've ever seen...and you need to be in a band or get independent label! Get an agent SOON if you don't already have one! You kick ass!
honestly, this is the best neil peart's tribute videos I've seen, and let me tell ya, I'VE SEEN TONS OF THEM!! xD, again congratulations and keep rockin'!!
Congratulations my friend...I am a drummer too, and you play very very good...in a few days I am starting my particular drums clases for first time in 10 years...I hope, I'll play like you...see you man...from CHILE
i don't care for many 'tribute' videos, but this is exceptional, and CREATIVE.
great choice of songs.
it's a testament to the greatness of Neil that another would study his work so closely to learn the ways of the master. this is the highest complement to him i've heard yet.
i could nitpick (snare is a little 'off' sounding), BUT a 1:1 'imitation' of his sound would not be as interesting as what you did.
I Saw Rush In June 1974 in asbury Park-N.J. They Opened 4 West, Bruce and lang,Been A Fan Ever SINCE I,ve seen Them Ever Tour Since,I Remember When Nobody Knew Who Neil Was,Life Is Funny
defiantly the best peart cover on the tube. you did this justice and im happy someone did this and did NOT butcher it. great work...so.... anything from snakes and arrows in the works? email me dude!
Ha ha..bro..i've been coming up with my own stuff for 20 years and so burnt out on the original thing which is WHY i'm in a Rush Tribute band now. Pure fun..that's all.
Thanks everyone for all the great comments..very much appreciated.. to try to answer a few questions that came up.. I didn't put anything from S&A because i made this before S&A was out...Yea..just Mapex Birch...the little bell at 1:46 was an old bell my son found hangin in my basement and attached it to the drums.lol..
So thanks all!..these comments really mean a lot to me..Rush Rules!
Outstanding drumming and thanks for a great walk down memory lane. I grew up playin drums to "The Professor" and you have done an outstanding job on this tribute.
Appears to be a Mapex M Birch, actually. At least to my eyes it does. Just thought I'd try and help. I agree though, it's a killer sound, fit for a killer player. :)
you know, i already commented once, but i have to say that after watching that again that you are a very talented musician. i used to play along to rush, but never like that!! kudos
That was absolutely flawless! That medley was seamless! And your drumming was damn near spot-on with the original, like %99.99999999999999999999999! Fucking A' Right man, good show!!!!!!!
That was just great Shogun....not only nailing the drum parts but selecting the sections/time to play and the overall production was just awesome. You should get some sort of grammy or something for this...hehe ;)
Oh did i mention im going to see them this sunday in fort lauderdale fl ...I GOT GREAT SEATS!! im going to be up loading his drum solo on you tube look 4 NEIL PEART UP CLOSE
Man let me tell you ..over the years i'v seen a lot drummers trying to imitate or mimic Neil's lics and grooves ,dude let me tell you that was right on !!!
That was awesome playing and an excellent show, great camera work and album insertion I'm forwarding this to a few Neil fans to see how many songs they can name, a fun test for all.
Excellent medley. I like how you placed "Where's My Thing?" next to "Leave That Thing Alone," two underrated instrumentals. Awesome playing, too. Mrsiix, the song at 1:28 is the first part of "Cygnus X-1: The Voyage".
Being a Studio Drummer for 21 years, I must say you're quite an accomplished drummer. Allthough there's a few techniques missing, It may just be your style that differentiates from the original recording, which by all means was NOT a bad thing ...at any rate, thank you for sharing your talent with us. I've been a Neil fan for YEARS...You do him justice well, If I were neil, I'd be honored to have you Imitate, or at least play my stuff. Cheers!
your confusing "countdown" with "losing it".but i agree with you, would've loved to see subdivisions. great job on this vid though. makes me want to practice more.
that's what i meant, yes. i had the pleasure of seeing" countdown "live during the signals tour. i wish someone would put up a video of rush doing that song live. has anyone ever seen them do "losing it "live?
I've been a Rush fan for 3 decades now, and WOW. This guy can flat beat the skins. Keep it up. Neil is beyond a doubt my favorite percussionist, and this kid definitely has talent. If you close your eyes and listen to what he does, you wouldn't know it wasn't Peart. Way Impressed.
I'm not a big fan of people spending their time trying to play other people's stuff, but this is clearly an exceptional effort!!You obviously spent alot of time and energy on this project-you too are obviously an incredible drummer! Your playing was relaxed and your execution seemed effortless!Good job mate!!!
Amazingly executed, mate. I'm a drummer and a huge Rush fan myself, and I spotted very very few missed beats or fills. Only two, I believe, which is a heck of a lot more than I can say for myself when playing Rush!
Out of curiosity, is that a Mapex M Birch you're playing on?
1 Bytor and the Snowdog 2 Bastille Day 3 2112 I:Overture 4 Cygnus X-1 5 Cygnus X-1 Book II:Hemispheres I:Prelude 6 The Spirit of Radio 7 YYZ 8 Losing It 9 Distant Early Warning 10 Marathon 11 Turn the Page 12 Show Don't Tell 13 Where's My Thing?, Pt. 4: Gangster of Boats Trilogy 14 Leave That Thing Alone 15 Drivin 16 Peaceable Kingdom
Been following Rush since 1976. Im also a drummer influenced by Peart and now Portnoy of DT. You are an EXCELLENT drummer; I loved this video. Keep rockin...
Son of a bitch dude!!!!!! That was money! I'm speechless. I've been a Rush fan since 1976 and that is the best Neil tribute I have ever heard or seen. First class my friend. I'm going to atleast 4 venues on the East Coast for the 08' second helping tour. Can't freakin wait! Thanks for the cudos on my air drums video and look forward to your Snakes and Arrows tribute. Rush is the greatest band in the world. Period.
Also saw your Tommy the Cat rendition. Holy shit man you rock!
dood you own, i wish i could jam my bass with you, im a huge Rush fan and now the lines from almost every rush tune...but i have never seen a drummer be so exact as you...a true pleasure brother .....
Hmm... Dunno if you're still taking requests or not, Jon, but if you are...
Losing It in its entirety and Middletown Dreams! :) Two fav's and, personally, I find Losing It to be very fun and challenging to "nail". Got a feeling you'd pull it off very well.

Hmm... Dunno if you're still taking requests or not, Jon, but if you are...
Losing It in its entirety and Middletown Dreams! :) Two fav's and, personally, I find Losing It to be very fun and challenging to "nail". Got a feeling you'd pull it off very well.

Great choices ... I love how Neil uses the snare sparingly on Signals ... and MD is one of my favs, too !!
