Actually in several comics Cap would use grenades, explosives and machine guns on the Nazi menace. Cap was first and foremost THE SUPER SOLDIER!Plus you also gotta think that getting hit in the face with Cap's indestructible shield is probably gonna snap a few Ratzi necks.He tried to minimize loss of any life but accepted that casualties were inevitable in war and tried to minimalize Allied deaths most of all.Currently Bucky Barnes is Cap, but now we may get Steve back in Captain AMerica Reborn.

This was probably the coolest of all the Marvel hero theme songs. Not long ago I came across a Cap jack-in-the-box that plays this theme when you crank the handle, and it brought back memories. Too bad the animation in the series was so pathetic!

It just happened to work in the 60's. I mean Cap was brought back in the 50's for a little while, and it wasn't all that popular (although that Captain America was later Retconned to be a different person and not Steve Rogers).
