just wondering if gtf uses the hip twist in its movments as origanly tought from maj gen choi or does it use the sine wave as in what the north koreans introduced to itf?????
Always nice watching videos of useless kicking of pseudo-martial-arts and egos inflated by their "great achievement". I guess you''ll only realize how useless this all is once your girlfriend starts beting the shit out of you LMAO
@INDUSTRIAL3X very good pattern all itf techniques all good . . they are different types of tkd respect all I do the 24 sine wave . But I can appreciate these. GM Park had the right to devellop any patterns .
This is a nice pattern, it's pretty hard to learn because it is so long and some movements are not easy (like the triple kick in the air). The shouts in the pattern are stupid, i never do that. But it is true that a lot of the combinations are 'stolen' from other patterns... But it's a good pattern to practice your kicks and to raise your TKD-skills
it's all TKD. ITF, GTF, WTF...whatever organization u belong to, show some respect for the rest. Myself, I belong with GTF. We are ALL brothers and sisters within the Martial Arts community. Grand Master Park did NOT name the pattern after himself, he created it. Jook Am is a consitantly growing pattern, which I do believe is up to just over 100 movements now. It is a very technical and difficult pattern to master.
I am ITF (24 years). I haven't seen much of GTF but this pattern looks nice. It has a lot of moves in common with ITF patterns Yon Gae and Moon Moo. I know little of GM Park - did he name the pattern after himself? (A little egoticstical if so, General Choi never did).
@ijustamme the pattern is good based on the itf . do not get personal he had a right to give the pattern any name he saw fit . judge the pattern not the man
@ijustamme Actually, The General named the entire ITF pattern after his own "Pen-name" - The Chong Hon patterns lol literally Blue Cottage :) Lots of the moves are from Juche and the original Ko-Dang as well.
Its a shame really Grandmaster park was a very pleasant man to be around, but his death was the end of the GTF, there then became a massive power struggle and the martial art was lost among the politics...
our national ITF organization (NTN) was a part of GTF for some time (but originally an ITF-organization), but chose to re-enter ITF after the death of GM Park Jung Tae. This pattern was,as others have said, made to honor him and his work, and as a result, it is quite long and advanced compared to the 3rd degre patterns of todays ITF. However, I disagree that this makes GTF patterns harder than IFT, as ITF puts higher demands on perfection and exactness of movements than do GTF. They're both good
hm, that was meant as a reply to GTF4life's comment here. ITF patterns have an extremely high standard compared to any other martial arts who do patterns/tuls/whatever. I agree GTF is hard, but IFT is no less hard. I'm just saying, IFT is good, and GTF is good :)
i dont dislike ITF. i started out at ITF i lasted like 2 lesson, not because of the training, the instructor is a disgrace to TKD everywhere!
i prob was a bit harsh at my posts, but i only made this accout because i came on to watch GM park and ppl had posted comments calling us frauds etc and dissing GTF patterns! that winds me up. GM park discharged himself from hosp and died to do TKD! that passion no-one can deny! i can take alot but no-one has the right to call GM park or Gen choi names!
i partly disagree, GTF are proud of our patterns and pride ourselfs on perfection! (if u have a decent instructor- but that all feds in general) i dont dislike ITF im GTF and i`d rather quit than join another fed` all im trying to say is id read ITF were considering getting rid of patterns coz ppl thot they were hard
From what I was told by my instructor some of the BB patterns were taken out, but others we made harder to compensate. One thing you notice as a BB is that the patterns get longer due to them being slower. Any colour belt will agree that if you do a colour belt pattern slowly then its harder. Couple this with harder moves and it does weed the wimps out from the committed. How many BBs from your academy go to the compos is always a telling sign of confidence in themselves!
if you mean some of the trational patterns were taken out in GTF they werent they were going to be replaced but GM park died before re-wrigting them all, think he re-wrote 8 if im right but because they arent all done they are extra GTF pattern atm dnt know if they`ll even replace them or not. any pattern done slow is hard (won-hyo is a knightmare if u ask me) lol. one of our first alt patterns is jee-sang its chon-gi but confuses u big time lol but its a nice pattern but yes its harder lol.
hi, i do ITF tkd and myself and my instructor(4th dan) find this pattern extremly interesting, im only 14 and have only passed my 1st degree... - this will be my new target...i like a challenge...
You live where I go to train and you might know about Cargin Moss Black Belt Academy (which is where I train). Well done on passing your 1st Dan. I too am gonna learn this pattern cos its just so darn long. Im a 2nd Dan so might find some of the moves a bit easier than you, just I forget all the damn moves or I remember a bunch of moves but always forget the connecting ones. I too do ITF, love it too much to give it up!
as a GTF student i will request u dont learn jook-am. its a GTF pattern. its one of the things that make GTF well it makes us GTF. that pattern is to honour GM park, when ppl proform jook-am it letts the world see just a little bit of who GM park was, of the perfection he aimed for!
im glad u like it tho, its prob the most tech pattern ive ever seen (and when done properally OMG u have to pick ur chin of floor:) ) lovely team pattern i hear:)
While I'd support your view that students should always strive for perfection in their training i found you are completely way off the mark saying we find them too hard for no apparent reason. If practicing patterns requiring high level kicking with congential hip, knee & ankle problems u CANNOT seriously expect me to teach a 67 yr old man for example the kicking in Juche to the same level as an elite athlete nor a person in their 20s with knackered joints from overtraining b it from TKD, footy
two things, one is our BB patterns were made HARDER because of the number of young BBs mastering the patterns too quickly. Nothing can demonstrate your commitment more than a pattern with difficult moves in it. Point 2 is that as a Martial Artist you should honour and respect not only your own MA but other MA too. It comes across like you are dissing TKD and its variants trying to make out YOU do the best one. What ever happened to Humility, one of the Tenets of TKD. Think you forgot that one!
i didnt mean to be harsh, that wot i read on a random ITF site! i dont mean 70yr old should be doing high sec perfect, a low kick with tech is better than high without! wot i meant is if ppl cant be bothered then thats there prob. GM park wanted perfection even if they done it at low sec! im not gonna diss TKD i love TKD i dont honestly know wot id do without it, but it annoys me when ppl post saying GTF are a fraud etc and ppl who diss GM park really wind me up, thats the reason i made account
@nitronixasd "...because of the number of young BBs mastering the patterns too quickly." Patterns can't be mastered, they can be executedvery well, but there is no such thing as perfect, you should always be searching for areas to improve and refine.
grand master park is one of the greatest if not the greatest! the pattern honours him. i personally dont expect anyone outside GTF to understand due to the fact that we train like every other federation BUT we use it to honour our founder! our standards are of the highest ( i no quite a few ITF who admit they are ITF coz GTF is more difficult and more demanding)
grand master park aimed for perfection so nothing else will be tollerated by GTF!
number of movements is impressive, but pattern itself is imo terrible. it looks like a compilation of all the prevoius patterns, maybe with few trick-a-like kicks.
i'm itf, i have nothing against gtf, but this pattern should have never been invented.
jook-am is a very real pattern, it repersents the Grand master park jung tae, ITF patterns are the original but GM park dedicated his life to the practise and perfection of TKD! GM park and general choi ran itf, GM park was his right hand man (ask ur masters) GM park is the greatest, he and choi(and other masters) made the `original` patterns, but GM park found ITF to be to much yang not enough yin.
Lnf live Grand Master Park Jung Tae. THE PEOPLES MASTER!!!
This pattern is now to honor Grand Master Park, the legend who was known to be one of the best. Those who are TRUE TKD martial artist, know exactly what I mean and in what way. Those who are confused, please do not take it the wrong way or in any way offensive.
I half-agree with you. Jook Am was indeed not included as part of the original set of 24 patterns. Jook Am was made in 1995, "manufactured" really. So while it's not really "authentic" TKD, I feel it's wrong to outright say it's a ripoff. All of the techniques are real ITF techniques. I don't really agree with making stuff up - that's why our association left the GTF. If nothing else, it's good practice if not a pattern.
I have practised ITF TKD as founded by Gen Choi Hong Hi for 15 years. Jook Am is not real TKD. This is one of the worst TKD rip-offs I have ever seen. The pattern is terrible.
I am surprised that you would say such a thing. There are many patterns that all TKD learn, but there are a few uniquc patterns that are only taught in a curtain federation or assication. We are all TKD brethren, regardless of what form of TKD. ITF, GTF, WTF, ITA, WTA, and GTA. It is true that this pattern isn't in ITF, but it is in GTF. Ask your instructor or one of the masters and they will tell you that this pattern is a real one, just not with the ITF.
Grand Master Park along with General Choi and a few select others designed and implemented the original patterns, look at the photo in the encylopedia. However as TKD is scientific it has to evolve or it will end up like Karate Kata. GMP was trying to evolve the art, constantly looking to improve if we can all be like that the world of TKD would be so much better

All you can do is train and perform to your utmost. Everything else is irrelevant.
