Thank you for this. My husband was with the 82nd during the early 80's and was prouder of his 'wings' than any other thing he ever earned in the Army.
Airborne school isn't too hard from what my friends tell me. If you are a MEMBER of the 82nd as an actual Infantryman, then the training while in the division is hard, but not impossible. It keeps you're skills up. The 101st is no longer an airborne unit, although they kept the title. They are air assault, which is like air cav.
Maybe i will be able to call myself an american! I do feel like an american! God Bless the USA, God Bless the Americans, God Bless the Armed Forced! AIRBORNE!
being an american isnt just where you are born its a type of person. we would gladly except you in this nation and hopefully someday you will be able to call yourself an american.
God bless the USA and all who made this country so lovable. In special, i want to say THANK YOU GUYS for your servitude and sacrifice! God bless y'all!Stop terrorism, stop racism, stop corruption! You people are so important to our country and to the whole world! In fact i'm no american, i'm german. But let me tell you one thing: Since the first moment i'm able to think i loved the USA, the people and all around!God bless the USA!
Sorry...I have no idea. You could research what unit your dad was in and see if there is info on the net about when they returned from Desert Storm...
That is SO weird about you finding the video though!!!
my Boyfriend was air force and was in the gulf war he was 21 I was 18. he left be hind me and with child who will never know her dad. there are so many young men over there fighting that will never come home to there families. I pray for the safe return of our troupes. be safe out there please come home to your loved ones .
The 82d Airborne aren't called "The All-Americans" just for the hell of it. Anybody in the 82d is a direct descendent of the founders of this country, because you cannot survive it without a deep love for the land and what it stands for. Thank you guys for your sweat in training and your blood in combat. God should owe you guys for your servitude and sacrifice.
ok, cause my grandfather served in the 82nd during WWII and i know he was not, but yea they are the best, my grandfather was shot in the leg and bayoneted in the chest and live the rest of the war still with the 82.
my dad was in the 82d in the gulf war.. a radio man.. he was 155 pounds carrying almost 100 pounds on the ground... and they were on the frontlines through the entire ground war, he was one of the first 3,000 american soldiers to arrive in saudi arabia before the war too. i see the pride he still has over a decade later, and i know that the 82d is still just as alive in him as it was during his first day in.
mine was a marine in the gulf... he doesnt like to talk about it... i guess hes seen some pretty, well "unusual" things... im glad my dads still alive im sure as much as u are... ;)
And It is here, I was one of those in the 82nd who arrived in Saudi, we called ourselves "speed bumps" because we figured the Republican Guard was on its way. The ground war was a nasty nasty deal. Give your dad a AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY from me.
Yes, exactly. Both 'decendants' and 'Dick' are Metaphores. Please forgive me I haden't read all your comments. We are on the same side of this one. My dad was in the South Pacific in 1942 with the Americal Div, he'll be 90 next week, he might be doing better if he had the pieces he left in New Caledonia
America, best country in the world. God Bless America.

no they are not "direct descendants of the founders of this country" i don't know where you heard that, but is wrong.
