@ticosexy22 Judo rules would have had the ref stop the match the moment both of Toby's feet were in the air. I've done judo for 15 years, and competed nationally. Yes it's a judo move also, but in judo this must be done on the ground.
He's not tapping before he goes unconscious, everyone. He's grabbing is arm to help push his shoulder away from his own carotid. It's a basic escape to buy you some time with any type of triangle. However, he's bending at the waist to not fall backward so he's just making it tighter. In his defense, I'm sure he's never even imagined practicing an escape to this. It is a very impractical/sick move. Lol @ the blue belts being judgmental here in the comments.
@jeffreyjames58 inverted triangle is hard to finish, precisely at this angle because the lock is situated at a position that the left arm can pry over it, left arm go's over imada's right ankle, and locks his arms together while posturing his neck up. the key is to open the lock. but imada's set up was exceptional. 0:28 watch imada's right arm, that was key to getting the lock. imada has one hell of a squeeze. contrary to the traditional triangle finish where you go perpendicular

Jorge doesn't tap, he puts pressure on his arm to eleviate pressure from the choke, its how you defend the normal triangle or arm triangle, sadly for Jorge it doesnt work on inverted triangles.

@LiverpoolTuber No, although it may seem like you can go for a toe-hold from that position, you will not be in the position to get any leverage on the submission (basically you might be able to put him in a bit of pain, but far from a tap or a break). Also, even if you had the strength or the leverage to do a sub from that position, you still have to worry about the choke, and once the arteries are cut off, it only takes 5-7 seconds to go out.

@Breakneckhydra1 And for the record I am a Behring purple belt and if what you said is true: that Jorge was trying to push down, then he was doing nothing to alleviate the pressure because he was pushing on Toby's RIGHT leg. The LEFT leg is the one across the neck that is choking. Pushing the right leg down would do nothing to alleviate pressure and in fact would actually tightern the left legs pressure across the neck. The only way this would work is if the right leg is pressing Jorge's.....

I've puled off weird subs in BJJ. We are just rolling around and I'm like, "Hey I could almost....." and the I get a submission. Great on the fly submission! An inverted triangle is awesome!
When I used to compete professionally in MMA, I lost to the same maneuver. I had the guy on my back and was looking to slam him down, and the next thing I knew, my trainer was over me asking if I was okay. I just never really did have the talent.

When I used to compete professionally in MMA, I lost to the same maneuver. I had the guy on my back and was looking to slam him down, and the next thing I knew, my trainer was over me asking if I was okay. I just never really did have the talent.
