do you have an LR Baggs M1 attached to any guitars? Looking at getting the K n K for a guitar of mine that doesn't fit soundhole pickups (too small), but thinking of an M1 for another guitar of mine....
@MSB76 cool...curious if you still have the Blueridge BR163A...i picked one up a few months ago...looking to get that with a pick up as well and since that Adirondak top just crackles with a sharp nice tone, looking for a pup that is quite sensitive to that
@bluesintheblood mine didn't have an A at the end, but... i THINK it's an adirondack spruce top... at any rate, yeah, i still got it. it also has a k and k in it. it's been working fine for me, but i always view pickups as a compromise. guitars always sound better unplugged to me.
@bluesintheblood yeah, I agree...my buddy has an M1 active through a Roland AC60...sounds very pure and true to acoustic tone....but what I hear of KK intrigues me and they are about 100 beans less...thanks!
@ianwalkerdownland That's funny... The tongue and the laugh at the end were a result of my own self-consciousness. I didn't think this take would be a keeper while I was recording it. Came out better than I thought. We're all our own worst critics I guess. I just googled your Mum's saying... Nice! And many thanks for the encouragement!!
damn man....you can play like a motherfuck. I do my own thing, but you got that pickin sweet soulful and honest and beautiful thing in such a lovely way, i commend you and love it..
I've watched this video about 40 times, now, over the past few months. Thanks so much for posting this. I'm sure as a musician, you know what I mean when I say that this song gives me that feeling like, "I wonder if the person who made this song even knows how good it is."
Still a kick ass tune. Finally figured out your finger picking pattern which is the real ball buster of this one. It is actually a banjo roll. Of course the banjo is tuned to open G so a lot of the shit we play in G sounds like the banjo somewhat. Anyhow awesome tune. Can't wait to get to the point where i can sing it too :)
Much thanks, Knuck. No, I never did learn any banjo rolls (not intentionally anyways). This is all based on playing an alternating bass on the 5th and 4th strings but I do move my thumb around as needed for whatever else I wanna play. I don't really think about the pattern too much. Just get a sound in my head and move my fingers around until I get close... I think I should study banjo to help me figure out what I'm trying to do with slide guitar...
thanks. i dove straight into fingerpicking and open tunings/slide when i learned to play guitar seven years ago. i started out with a compilation of lessons from acoustic guitar magazine. then i discovered all the dvds that cover this stuff at guitarvideos (dot) com and homespuntapes (dot) com. there are some great tutorials on youtube nowadays as well. for slide, DADF#AD and DGDGBD are the two most common tunings. i just tend to tune lower than that to suit my voice.
thanks, zak. yeah, this thing does have a nice beefy v neck on it. this is the only guitar i ever wanna play if i'm goin' for a hill country mcdowell type thing. i feel lucky to have it.
@MSB76 Great guitar but i don't think i can afford one at this atge in my life, don't suppose you happen to no of any affordable archtops with decent sound quality?
@vinniedurrant i just stumbled across this one accidentally. never really played any other archtops. i hear Kays from the 50s-60s are great if you can find one at a decent price.
Man, than tune works quite well and good! Got a lot of good news today, was blessed from head to toes, and this new video is one of them...and your spontaneous laugh at the end speak volumes.

@bluesintheblood Never used an M1. I've got K & K's in all my guitars (except the resonator which has a National Hot Plate).

Hey Mike.
Love it! Top draw.
Never pardon your mistakes. You might trick the viewer into listening for them rather than just enjoying the piece (like I just did).
A couple more listens just to make sure.....nah, couldn't hear any mistakes and deffinately enjoyed it!
