  • If you think he has control of your leg now, wait until he uses the correct technique and actually secures your leg by tightening his legs together to make the knee bar more seure.

  • although the first application was weak and open, it still would break the knee out. as long as the fulcrum is at the knee and the hips and arms can apply a force and counter force the knee will still break. however the last application was faster and closer to the way I was trained to use this lock, he may have used an open leg hold to simply show us whats going on. however from what I've seen on other vids of the same dojo, these guys are judoka trying to be MMA fighters.

  • this is terrible technique, his knees need to be together, and the need to be basically ass to ass, not to mention he grabs the footlock with opposite hands that should be grabbing, dead give away to a fake

  • this is trash, for any experienced grappler that is trying to look over and relearn these moves, wrong series. this is more for drunk basement grappling.

  • I think it's interesting how he fails to figure four the leg until the final 5 seconds of the video and doesn't even mention how critical being near the hip and figure fouring is.

  • figuring fouring is good but not always needed. So long as you can apply pressure with your legs from squeezing. Also the knee has to be above the groin that is the really important part. If you can cross your legs to keep better control over his that is good also.

  • He is not even squeezing his knees together, anyone with ANY sort of submission defense would get out of that every time. Also, as an instructional video there is basically no insight on how to set up the move or any of the finer technical parts.

  • yeah well everyone has their own advantages ... if ur arms/legs are shorter u can get tighter grips especially chokes... if their longer u got that reach and u better use it cause if ur tall ur center of gravity is bad i hate grappling vs shorter guys just cause of that.

  • This is dirt.  I love the knee bar but this guy is loose and has way too much space between the hips, I don't think he would hit it in live rolling when someone is actively resisting and protecting their leg. Idk I guess that's what happens when Karate masters try to teach no-gi grappling

  • @vinnyMcDougal The technique is off. There is room to get your self out. The first time around, he places his legs right on his hip, by just moving it with your hand you give yourself all the room you need to get out. On the second one, though the legs are better placed, he's too on the knee, a slight tug with your leg can put you in a significantly more comfortable position for an escape.

  • i love knee bars. I usually finish with them, or an Achilles lock.

  • its a good idea, to get a knee bar from the shin across the belly sweep. but you gotta pinch those knees. also youd have to catch the guy as soon as he goes to hit the sweep so hes laying on his hip or youll wind up with the leg but no lock. good idea to play with but needs refinement.

  • You have to squeeze your knees together. That way, you're holding it with your inner thighs. Same thing with an armbar. If you don't you will be hurting your sweets.
