Hahahahaha He says goldfish are easy to tell apart when he doesn't even know the difference between a lionhead and an oranda!! And he's the expert? yeah right..
your goldfish sounds like has swim bladder disorder. Hope you've checked all the articles on google web about this. Give the little fellow 1-2 sweetpeas. Let the peas defrost or cook a little and cool down. Let peas cool, take off skins, squish to tiny peices and put in tank. try this each day to clear up constipation of fish which commercial foods can cause. Good luck.
@vietfrank Hey, my goldfish has had the same problem before; it is pretty common, and usually not fatal. Your fish is probably suffering from swim bladder disease. The most likely causes are either poor water quality, or too much proccessed foods (flakes, pellets). Try changing about 15% of your tank water. Also, I recommend fasting your goldfish for about 2-3 days. This may sound cruel, but goldfish could usually live a week without food. This was successful for me, good luck! :)
@vietfrank Oh, and two more tips for after your fish recovers. Pre-soak your flakes before adding them into the tank. This allows the flakes to expand before the fish eat them; expanding food inside the fish's digestive system can irritate the swim bladder, as well as cause constipation. Remember to give you fish a varied diet as well, such as peas, lettuce, oranges, and bloodworms... but only on occasion or as a treat! Good luck! :)
@TheYesterdayGuy About 6 months ago, I read this article about determine if the goldfish is a male or a female. What I remember is the male goldfish is slimmer than the female (when you look from the top-to-bottom view aka above view) and the female is quite oval around the stomach part. Male goldfish have little white dots like pimple on the gill. The easy way to tell if it's male or female is that the male chases the female all the time. I hope this helps answering your question.
i love goldfish! i have two at home and they have a lotta space for themselves. their named tigger and pooh. (: anyone have any tips to assure they live long?
