Did you know that this book was initially finished by Nietzsche's sister who was married to a noted anti-Semite? The Will to Power is initially from Nietzsche's unpublished notebooks, and his sister edited it to have anti-Semite and Nazi idealism which remains in the book today. Just something to bair in mind when covering the ideas in this book.
Wow! wonderful ! I started studying (not just reading) Nietzsche's book last month and now thanks to your lectures, the study is getting very interesting and gripping! Thank you very much!
Wow, this is cool. My summer break doesn't begin until June 10, but I am definitely reading this book over the summer. Just when I was pondering what would be a good philosophy book to read over the summer. Thanks!
Dr. C, do you think I could manage to follow this lecture with a different translation? The translator in my version is Anthony Ludovici (Barnes and Noble essential reading library). Thanks for doing this, I bet a lot of people are looking forward to this lecture.
please never stop making videos, they're fantastic! :) oh and btw, i like how the same shirt matches with the lecture series. it helps and doesn't confuse me lol. ALOHA!
@bracesfaces LOL!! [I thought it was just me] I hate breaking the continuity of the shirt that I'm wearing. It's part of the mania. the same shirt and/or tie should be used for the series...it only seems right...LOL...ok I'll give in to the mania and rock the white collard oxford with the black tie...simple and I have a million white shirts...I think there are only two series where i change my shirt and it irks me when i look through the playlist and see a different shirt...so it's decided then!
@drjasonjcampbell win!! lol. too bad i can't send you a hawaiian shirt from here (oahu) in time for the nietzsche lecture series hahaha. how epic would that be lecturing about mr. nietzsche while rocking a hawaiian shirt with pineapples all around? lol.
I read Nietzsche about 30 years ago. I described the experience to a friend as like dueling with sabres. N undermines the glib and specious with such intellectual rigour that I found the experience breath taking. "Will to Power" is the last I read in the translation you recommend and I still have it on my shelf, it has traveled across the Atlantic with me. I'll dust if off and go through it again.
Dear, oh dear, 150 videos. As Rick Blain says in "Casablanca", "Here's looking at you, kid."
@drjasonjcampbell I've wanted to study him for a number of years, but I live in an anti-intellectual environment where most people are just plum stupid (Detroit). Also, being a female and an artist it's hard to find credible persons to discuss him with. This is an excellent opportunity for me to not only go chapter by chapter with "WtP", but to have a lecture and to also ask questions. I'm very excited about this and thank you for uploading! :-)
@thepatshowonwp Yeah I'm looking forward to the Q&A. I typically have great exchanges with people...I'm working on a new system to standardize and synch the lecture notes, the book, and the videos. I've had some difficulties in the past. I think Q&A will be facilitated by a more standardized process, which I'm working on now. I'll incorporate the section #s from the lecture notes into each video title. Something I haven't done before. And references to the book in the videos.
