I can understand all the negative comments. This guy wants to do something that makes sense, costs the taxpayers nothing, is easily understood, and helps working Americans. It sort of goes against the grain of most politicians.
I agree with his idea...its sensible and does not raise the debt. The only problem is obama wants to save that money so he can ude during his re-election (that way people can think he is actually caring about them)....NO BROMA||
@SatwaMan Don't call Brown a piece of republican shit. Well what can I say...democrats do tend to hate people who serve in the military. Rather than be ignorant your entire life and spending your time on Youtube, why don't you do some research? He served in the Army and deserves respect. Why should he show the President any respect? When did Obama serve in the military? Rather than serve, Obama constantly talks down to our troops and apologizes for what they do. So why don't you shut your mouth?
why should serving in the military give someone automatic respect? it's mostly ignorant sh*ts that can't get into college that join the military. and then when the country actually asks these f*cks to do their jobs (which they're paid to do), they complain and whine.
Funny you only care about how republicans spend money, but it doesn't bother you that Obama has spent more money than all the presidents together. Tell me how a nation can spend its way out of debt? Tell me how it doesn't bother you that healthcare taxes have to start right away if the bill passes and that you won't get healthcare for four years. It doesn't bother you that it will cost double what the goverment says.
Explain it to me, S! I own a business and know exactly how it works. Who is funding the extensions? They were just approved without a government plan to pay for them. I would guess the taxpayers are now funding the lengthy extensions.
You said it was a handout. However people collecting unemployemnt paid into the system and also have to pay taxes on the amount they collect. Thanks to Reagan who thought it was better to cut taxes for the rich and stick it to the working class. The extensions are being funded the same as the two wars we're in.We keep the printing press rolling and continue to borrow from China.
Whats your solution, have 20 million people fend for themselves.
Hmmm...wasn't there just another fiasco regarding the government covering even MORE unemployment extensions? And many businesses have seen 50% less people seeking work now before the Obama raises and extensions. Many are taking advantage of the government funded vacations. I know several personally. Ask the temp agencies in Michigan. It is getting harder to pay all the people that aren't working from the backs of the working taxpayers.
Raise capital gains taxes. I have no problem with anyone making good money working hard at creating a business or running a business. When capital gains taxes are lowered that gives the rich less incentive to invest in new industries and more incentive for them to invest "safer" industries. These safer industries are more interested in maintaining the status quo and using government to stop innovation in order to safe guard their cash cows. Higher capital gains taxes = more innovation.
Payroll Taxes mostly apply to individual workers making under $110,000/year. Not the wealthy by any means. This would let all workers keep more of their own money. It is a return of stimulus funds to the people. Government doesn't create any real private sector permanent growth.
yea a huge economic growth which we are paying for now
The national debt from the George Washington to Jimmy Carter was 1 Trillion dollars when Reagan got to the White House, by the time Bush Sr. left it was 7 Trillion
How do Republicans plan to pay this off if they just talk about cutting taxes
That is right they don't care, they have all gotten filthy rich off Reagan and Bush and the economy is now something the poor and middle class have to worry about
What is wrong with his statements? I think Senator Brown is staying true to his values. Defend what is true and do the people's business! Government (all Government) works for We, The People, not the other way around.
The stimulus funds have already been approved. The debt has already been accumulated. Make the money work for us, now!
It is a good thing that people start realizing paying off debt is important. Unfortunately, it is too late. When we were at good time, we should pay off debt (as under Clinton, but damn Bush did the opposit). Now, we are in bad time, we have to borrow to survive!!
Look at the Chinese, they saved money when time were good and are drawing savings when time turns bad.
It's a good idea, but let us not forget. Ultimately, if we, as a nation are going to prosper again, we are going to have to CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING DRASTICALLY.
Cutting the payroll tax was breifly floated as an idea before TARP I....the parasites shot it down....and down it will remain. Hold on to your seats because the ride is going to be bumpy prior to economic impact with reality.
This is why I voted for Scott Brown...he's a realist with a plan, a purpose, and a heart. I will never hinge my support for him on his vote for a bill, I will hinge my support for a bill based on his support. He has my complete trust. Thank god, that for once, Massachusetts matters.
This is a brilliant idea, putting money back into the pockets of ordinary working people. Blue dog Democrats should get behind this. Obama is out of touch with the American people, if he can't lead he should get out of the way!!
An ok idea but I preffer he brought forth a bill to get that unspent and unused slush fund money back and pay down the debt with it instead of keeping it on the loan ballance sheet that our grand kids will be paying for for years. Cut spending and then taxes.
After this tax cut for people WITH jobs, how about working on allowing Americans to own homes, so that we don't have to pay rent to the towns at ever rising fees every year. Those of us without jobs can't afford rent, especially when we thought we OWNED our homes!
Brown is a nigger! Quit lying about Rachael Maddow!

No-one else around the world worships ex-grunts. They did not serve America. They served the Corporations.
WE DON'T WANT ANY DUMB GRUNTS IN POWER ! THEY ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO SAVE THIS CONTRY, NOR HAVE IT COMPETE IN THE 21st CENTURY.

america is already destroyed you evil Republican
Taxes need to be raised on the wealthy to help clean up the mess they left
Before Reagan took office the top 1% had a income tax of 70%
after Bush and Reagan they managed to knock it down to 35%
The rich are living like kings and everyone else is a peasant

should the tax be the same for everyone?
jsfdude 2 years ago
no, the lesser you make the less percentage in taxes you have to pay, the more you make the higher percentage
I don't buy the line about "why should you be penalized for hard work" or "if you cut taxes for the wealthy, they will just have to cut jobs"
That is just Republican fear mongering and propaganda, they will cut jobs regardless, more money for them and wall street
America was destroyed thanks to the Reagan and Bush tax cuts for the wealthy
