  • This should be God's theme song.

  • I wanna play brass now.

  • It definitely sounds like a Double C above a Double G. I don't hear a Triple G.

  • @trumpetkidd0 I think you mean double C above high G (not double), otherwise you'd be saying triple C......

  • I'm assuming that this is memorized?

  • is it just me or does every mello section have a short person? In my section we have a 4'11 person haha and we are in high school

  • Amazing

  • i can play a 2 G's above the staff. im a freshman in college. is this good?

  • @keepweezyfree High Notes Dont make a trumpet player good, Tone and Volume do, High notes are how we Measure our ego :P

  • @1digidude i know this, i mean like should i be able to play higher than this by now or am i ahead or right on track.

  • @keepweezyfree Well two g's above the staff is pretty high, I think thats pretty good for your age yes!

  • @1digidude thank you

  • I've got a MUCH better sounding recording of this I made with a minidisc (really brings back memories seeing this, BTW). I'll have to post it. The sopranos absolutely rip your face off compared to this.

  • @bluejazz04 Awesome! I have another recording I actually got from limewire 3 or 4 years ago. Not sure if it's the same one, but I'd love to see it!

  • @DrumCorpsTube Sorry for the wait...here it is. Audio only:.

  • @DrumCorpsTube Apparently I can't post link here...but check out my channel. I just posted two audio-only clips, including my recording of this one. I'll try to post more when I get the chance, of other corps as well!

  • @bluejazz04 Thanks! Listening to it now.

  • @DrumCorpsTube PLEASE UPLOAD THAT RECORDING.

  • @bluejazz04 Post it!

  • @bluejazz04 please post that recording of BD '02 Across the Stars... I need it

  • @bluejazz04 upload it, seriously!

  • @kane0187 Check my channel...just uploaded it!

  • i hear chewbaca now saying draaaa drrrraaa draaa-a-a- howling at this music

  • The song is across the stars by John Williams. It's the love theme

  • does anyone know the actual name of the song??? it would be a big help for me

  • @enceladus17 Across the Stars by John Williams.

  • <3

  • i am not at all a BD fan but i must say they're a little far past bad ass in this moment

  • O.O

This makes me want to cry. :D

  • this would be awesome if that trumpet play didnt hang over and ruin every big moment.

  • @hogs1629 In fact this is not a school it is an Organization that is completely bad ass. All brass no woodinds (thankfully!) a pit and drumline. Look it up at dci.org. It really doesnt measure to any school at all but i'm not gonna be an asshole about you not knowing what it is. :P

  • @trumpeteer247 the brass sounds FANTASTIC but woodwinds aren't completely useless.

  • @ChiknThighTatorPie lololol

woodwinds are in fact completely useless.

  • @VerdantBlue could not agree more

  • @VerdantBlue woodwinds are in fact completely useless? well who else is gonna ACCOMPANY the brass? :) lol

  • @ManUnitedFreak94 MORE BRASS

  • @reverberate10 i agree ha

  • @ManUnitedFreak94

    More brass.

  • what school is this

  • @hogs1629 Really now?

  • Bleh, music from the horrible prequels. No thanks.

  • My friend recently asked me "Why doesn't DCI Have Sousaphones?" I showed him a couple of BD vids and now he understands why they march Contras

  • They have a squicker...not a screamer. JK, awesome, I love this.

  • @TonyDanza007 haha that would be awesome, but I'm only 16 and I'm a drummer. I do play a bit of trumpet, but I just started haha.

  • sheet music anyone please!!!!

  • @JKelly8778. I need the sheet music for this too. I been looking for years

  • "G-spot" :)

  • Did anyone else hear that G on trumpet...

    I almost shit my pants...

  • @NeonKid1000 which one? the first one at 00:25 ?

  • @IIIIAnthonyIIII

    Yes.

    totally epic

  • @NeonKid1000 Indeed ( in a realllyyyyy french accent,lol)

  • @NeonKid1000 I should hope so! it wasn't exactly subtle XD

  • @NeonKid1000 4get the G! listen at that C at 0:51. clean and controlled.

  • @NeonKid1000 almost? psh i DID shit my pants

  • Goosebumps ensue almost immediately.

  • my god... the ending...

  • I wish I could play with the blue devils........at least once

  • Pretty good, I love the high trumpets! The tubas were a bit sharp through most of it, but they fixed it by the last two phrases. I could also hear some slight balance issues, but overall it was very well played. I would ask for more contrasting soft sounds, but then i remembered this is a drum corps haha good job devils.

  • @BornToDrum7 Man, you should be on brass staff!

  • Comment removed

  • I've watched this video 20 times, and I get choked up every single time. awesome. miss those days!

  • It's actually "Across the Stars" with a bit of the Imperial March thrown in at the very end, but that doesn't matter.

What matters is that this video is awesome! That, my friends, is what DCI should sound like! None of this electronic stuff.

  • this is chilling. john williams would be very very proud

  • First video I've ever seen on youtube that has no dislikes!

  • I saw them at the Drum Corps. International like last month...and they came 1st place. As expected..

  • 1:33 everyones talkin bout screamers...i think the pedals are yummy tho :)

  • mmm chillzzz

  • I find it very amusing and fun to have a screamer who hangs a bit over. But in this case its obnoxious. They hang over on ever single cut off through the song. And its on a song that shouldn't be sloppy at all. it has a great effect if its played well. Maybe on the space chords its ok or other warm ups like that.

  • You can hear a nice f above the staff from the mellos at 1:16

  • so how come BD screamers cant cut off at the same time as the rest of the corp? it angers me.

  • I'll probably get a lot of slack for saying this, but I can't stand it when the screamers hold on past the cutoff. Yes, congratulations, you can play really high ... but it sounds pretty sloppy and really takes away from the overall "wow" factor of the warm-up, even if it IS the Blue Devils.

  • good day everyone . .

where I can find the music sheet of these music ? . . .

Can anyone send me the music arrangement of this ? . .

this is my email : jessecastro06@yahoo.com

    thanks in advance

  • does wayne downey have to choke a trumpet

  • i love the screaming and the pedal at the end

  • yeah that black soloist that year (sorry if anyone finds this offensive, I don't know his name) had incredible high chops, of course so did the other two.

  • This is a treasure. Don't ever delete this ever......Ever.

  • This is a treasure. Don't ever delete this......Ever.

  • This is a treasure. Don't ever delete this......Ever.

  • @79Shrike19 Don't worry about that, haha. I'm not going to!

  • @DrumCorpsTube. Is there anyway I can get the sheet music for this?

  • @79Shrike19 What he said.

  • i definatly wouldnt put "lots of trumpets screaming" in this description. more like 1 trumpet squeeking out high notes under everyone else.

  • Idk about bout but in 57 there is a scream that i hear but cant make out what the note is

  • Definately a triple G @1:16. but does anyone hear entrance fail @27?

  • That sounds like a double C to me, you hear the doub G clear as day it sounds like double C to me though idk tripple G, Maynard used to play trip Ds hahah idk about a trip G

  • i nutted win he ht dat G

  • squeaks, not real notes

  • pardon? They're real notes.

  • @evilpaintball999

    eh ... not really.

  • I see what it is now - there are 2 screamers @ 1:16. One on the double high C, the 2nd to cut off is really @ a triple G - chilling any way you cut it. Hats off to BD!

  • is there sheet music for thiss?

  • Def. a triple G

  • thats not a triple g its more like a double e

  • I'm 100% positive it's a triple G, otherwise I wouldn't have posted that it's a triple G in the description.

  • hangover at .29 is a G on the staff up an octave. and the hangover at :51 is a double C. sheesh! the one at the very end im not sure about sounds like some squeaked out note is all i know..

  • @DrumCorpsTube

    its a double g

  • At 1:16? I'm not sure if you can't hear it on your computer, or if you don't consider it a note, but it's there. It may be a squeak, but the pitch is approximately three G's above the staff. I'd like it if anyone can back me up on this...

  • I caught it, it's just barely there, but it's there nonetheless

  • @DrumCorpsTube yeahh .. its totally triple G .. it sounds like a mosquito buzzinq in your ear .

  • @DrumCorpsTube pretty sure its a triple G, definately cannot hit that tho hahaha

  • @DrumCorpsTube yeah, sounds like a triple g to me

  • @DrumCorpsTube yea i heard it haha. it hangs right over the double g

  • @DrumCorpsTube i heard it, they hung over a lil...definently there...

  • @DrumCorpsTube its definitely a triple squeak. I'll back you up on that :P

  • @DrumCorpsTube Definately a triple G.....

  • @DrumCorpsTube Yes. It was very faint, but i think it was a very sneaky triple g over the top there.

  • @DrumCorpsTube Tuner picked it up, it was the G and it was 3 above(tuner tells me where the notes are place.)

  • @PatrickCollinsMusic Awesome thanks for doing that! It's pretty easy for me to hear, but it's probably harder to hear on other computer speakers, or even it's not audible. That's why I think people are so dead set that they're right. What did you use?

  • wow..... at :29 its a double high G, at :51 its a double high C, and at 1:16 its also a double high C, if u dont believe me match the pitches on a piano, get it right

  • @DrumCorpsTube well are they on g bugles?

  • @tacos931s no, Bb trumpets

  • @DrumCorpsTube o i thought you meant at 0:51 not 1:16 sorry

  • @DrumCorpsTube definitly a triple g at 1:16

  • @huntdog44 I concur sir

  • @DrumCorpsTube Yep its a g alright im sitting here with my tuner right now.

  • @DrumCorpsTube I think it's someone in the crowd whistling...and it happened to be a concert F

  • I was in band and played trumpet. How would i be able to Play in the DCI corps.

  • Audition by going to one of their websites and signing up. Most corps already have their roster set, but there are some that have open spots. It's pretty difficult to get into a finalist corps, but marching in a lower tier corps or open class corps is always worth it!

  • @DrumCorpsTube Yes it is a triple G, i just played one and recorded it to my computer to listen to it, it sounded exactly like what it sounds like in the video :D

  • @AndreMorgan66 How old are you? If you are over 22 you can't join a corps but you just have to go to the DCI website and find a corps that you like and look into joining by going on to their page.

  • @peepers12 but theres always DCA or all-age corps. just saying.

  • That's a double C at 0:51 ;)

  • There is a pretty high note at about 0:51. Maybe that's the triple G? I can't really tell.

  • that was best i've heard from dci. mainly cause its all brass. i just didn't like the trumpet screams

  • at about 0:27 it's a double A on trumpet or concert G.

  • Have you possibly noticed that this was recorded in 2002? No camera back then could capture the diversity of the audio.

  • All of you need to stop talking shit because they are one of the Best Corps in DCI history. The balance and everything is off due to a number of things including poor recording quality, positioning, etc...

  • can you?

  • @OSUMBDB can you? yeah i dont think so

  • @tucker422 I'm not a trumpet player so no I can't. If you don't have the note, don't play it. I'm a good enough musician to know that. I know my strengths and weakness's. Clearly this trumpet player's ego is too big. (big surprise)

  • @OSUMBDB well i am, and high notes for us, are our bragging rights, amoung other things. and his ego is allowed to be big cuz he's in the best drumcorps, and yeah, our ego's are big, cuz we play one of the hardest intrumets to march with

  • @tucker422 Amen!

  • @tucker422 I'm going to assume this is about marching Soprano. (I personally march Sop) and I have to say: 1) there is no "best" drum corps. there are only favorites. All corps are amazing, to say the least. 2.) I don't know if you've ever tried to march anything other than soprano, because its definitely NOT the hardest instrument to march with. not even close. and sure we all have egos, but some of us are still modest about our playing in certain aspects

  • @Eskew42 yeah, im just gonna call it a trumpet, "soprano" is too broad. in this case, they are in terms of championchips won, yeah there are other corps that are better in other categories, but im talking championship wise. i do, i play and have marched all Bb brass. i never said they THE hardest, but there are defiantly up there in difficulty, if you play trumpet, along with other brass, then you should know where we have it tougher and easier compared to others.

  • @tucker422 really to be honest, a soprano trumpet is made to hit high notes *hence the name "soprano"* so there is no need to have a friggin ego, now, I play snare, and I'm trying out for the crossmen this year *because I know for a fact that there are people out there better than me, so I'm not shooting too big, but they did come in eight this year, so that's pretty dang good*

to change subjects, THIS BRASS LINE IS GODLY!

  • @TheRew400 its called soprano because of its high voice, playing notes anywhere close to that, is just about the hardest for us. hence people playing this high, have ego's because they can play that high. but good luck! crossmen is a great corps, and a great place to learn. ive been to a few clinics there, i had a friend play trumpet there in 09'. shes now in/was in BD this year (2010), and i marched SCVC in 09' and SCV this year. so good luck!but yes! this brass line is godly! i love playing

  • @TheRew400 with them on joint performances haha

  • @OSUMBDB dude. calm down. He's a badass. Have you ever heard Scott Dean brag? No, because he doesn't. He's an amazing screamer. He hangs over. It's because it sounds awesome, not because he's egotistical.

  • are you fucking kidding? listen to the euphs at 1:08

  • john williams is such a badass

  • I have a recording of the 1999 version, but the bass in this version made me want to swoon. OMG, its amazing

  • It's actually a double G..two staves above the original.

  • A double G is two octaves higher than the one in the staff. AKA the second G above the staff. A triple G is the octave above that.

  • @pooniman1 Yeah it's not a triple G that's for sure lol maybe a double C at most lol Definitely not a triple G I agree.

  • Across the Stars sounded amazing

  • LOVE the contras at 1:23!!! pedal Eb

  • 0:50 made me change my undies....my god that was a piccolo inside that mans soul...

  • its a triple c hangover :D. lol amazing video

  • Triple G ;)

  • its a c i play trumpet lol. i can hit it on warm dry days :D. you couldn't hear a triple g. lol

look up the video Bb tuning finale. its on there.

  • a 3 High C is higher than a 3 High G,make sure u kno wat ur talkin bout next time

  • your mother :D

  • never mind haha im dumb i heard the c and the g.

  • haha :)

  • triple g man, listen right at 1:16, you hear it carry over a bit.

  • I just shit my pants..

  • love the ending

  • finally a good band at youtube

  • Blue Devils and Star Wars. A match made in heaven!

  • mmmm

I want to be in Drum Corps very badly. I only play trombone though D:

Hmmm, I may need to learn euphonium.

  • You could most likely switch to Euph or Bari pretty easily. A lot of trombone players at my school did it so they could be in our competition band, and they didnt seem to have any trouble.

You should try, corps is bad ass. I switched from sax to mellophone last year so I could try out lol. First year audition comming up. ^_^

  • WOOO GO MELLOPHONE :D
