  • this is Ingolfsfjall but only few kilometers from Hveragerði

  • aaargh! i hear the clouds r gonna effect england! :S

  • today we had a 6.5 earthquake...*shiver*

  • I wanna leave in Iceland so badly. Icelanders, be proud of where you live and the strenght of your people through out history. You made one of the hardest lands in the world the best place to live. You are the only country that can say "We were the Vikings". Iceland was populated by the Vikings and some Irish and british slaves. Neither the Norwegians, danes or Swedes can say that cuz the vikings were a small part of their populations.

  • @badseed136

Ehh, you're kind of forgetting how we screwed it all up. The collapse of our banks. That's going to leave a huge scar which will disappear very late, if not never.

  • Is this me or does this happen every 4 years

  • ...Kerry McFadden has escaped injury

  • Me and my wife was walking outside Hveragerdi direction Selfoss. It was terrifying to be that close to the epicentre, it felt like the ground was exploding. My wife hurt her leg and cant walk for some weeks. I´m glad they report nobody died.

It is sad that many earthquakes happens in poor countrys that doesn´t have strong built houses like Iceland.

  • ^_^ Iceland is not a poor country. In fact, we are ranked 12th in the world in GDP per capita, 6 positions higher than Sweden. All new buildings are built to withstand quakes, and we have small population so no tall structures. But a lot of the historical buildings can be dangerous in a quake.

  • Sorry, I wrote my comment fast.

    Maybe my english is bad.

I wanted to say that Iceland have strong built houses, but many earthquakes happens in poor countrys that don't have strong buildings.

Iceland is a rich and beautyful country but I would prefer without earthquakes...

  • aah ^_^ I understand now :) I agree it is sad that many natural disasters occur in poorer nations without the infrastructure to cope with them. China and Burma both come to mind as recent casualties. I also agree that Iceland would be better without earthquakes! ^_^ Big ones like this video don't happen too often, but we get little ones all the time. They can be very frustrating. Does Sweden ever get earthquakes?

  • Nope, earthquakes are wery rare in Sweden and the ones we get are just "mini" quakes.

  • Iceland is not a poor country, and it does have strong built houses!

  • Pulsuhundur:

Please, read the whole conversation! Axa did not say Iceland was a poor country.

  • It would have been nice to mention this was in icelandic.

  • There is no continuity, so it shouldn't matter. I cut out most of the interviews and added summary, in English, to the video.
