  • I was at that concert. I didn't see the fishnets but I was inside the arena when the fights, chairs and gangs started going at it. It was crazy and a night I won't ever forget.

  • This story is recanted in the new book: HOW DO RUMORS GET STARTED: The true story of Timex Social Club. It's actually the very first chapter of the book. CRAZY!

  • THE NIGHT BEFORE in OAKLAND CALIFORNIA the SHOW went GOOD cant find footage that was the Best show on earth will never forget MUCH LUV - PROMO -

  • 25 years ago this year.. wow

  • I was at this concert, 15 and my 1st concert. My older brother took me. I remember LL Cool J was there. I remember there was a fight in the upper deck. It looked like some latinos had jumped on a couple of blacks. When all the gangster on the floor saw this you saw the entire lower level move like a wave to the upper decks. From that point on it was mayheim. RunDMC never made it to the stage. LBPD forced everyone who wasn't fighting outside into gun fire and pools of blood on the floor.

  • keep me posted .... But yeah i sit here and just remember how crazy that was but back then i was with a few homies always waiting for something to pop off but these wasn't on the scripts. I remember running out after what seemed hrs to the car which was in the parking structure myself looking for somewhere safe to chill but that was a mistake there where crazy ass peeps busting windows on parked cars and people that were driving out looking for safety. We hid in a car that was already damage.

  • FUCC sissies

  • I was born in 88 so how ever it went I hope you mark ass napps got smashed!!! $/$ ETG

  • A homie!!! This is "DA HOMIE E",I was at that concert in 1986 to. In 1987,I was in a rap group called ''POETRY N MOTION'' with my homies d-rock-d and d-m-d I was called d-easy-e a.k.a. devastaten e back then. We made a song called ''KILLER DAYTONS'' produced by ''DR.DRE''. That concert is one reason why I am in the entertainment business.

  • Look up this clip below. It's a Rollin 60's Crip talking about what happened when he and his gang went to that concert:

Bubba Loc former Rollin 60's now stand up comedian (war stories)

  • I WAS also 14 years old in 1986,

but i was safe in Newyork at the time, lol lol

& thats where RUN DMC is from, lol

  • INTERRESTING VIDEO

  • Something similar happened in Oakland at the arena where the Warriors play. Members of the Oakland gang "69 Ville" were on the main floor that was general seating. Well I forget who was performing, I think it may have been Whodini as well, but man o man. The fighting started and then the crowd parted like the Red Sea. All you see is about 20 dudes in the middle of the crowd and they just got their own spot. They were standing in a circle daring anyone to fight back. Last concert for years.

  • Wow, please keep me inform cause I would like too know why them poe poe's were that scary!!! But, Yeah Whodini was the shit's!!!! i recently went to Paid Dues in San Bernardino to take my boys, cause of the trauma of letting them go bye themselves and something broke out....thank God these concerts ain't jumping like the " OLD SKOO"

  • @OLDSKOOFOO1

If I come across I'll be sure to send it to you. Must be pretty badly tagged as it's not coming up with any keywords that would make sense to use. Smoking Gun website doesn't have it, which surprised me.

I think these riots, back in the day, were unrelated to the music and as gang truces seem to be holding up in Cali this shit going down would be unlikely, but you can bet your ass I'd be going with my kids, same as you, just in case.

  • i remember it like it was yesturday ! there were people all over the floor gett'n stomped on, it looked like there were pails of blood thrown all over the walls. I lost my people in there all i heard were shots going off inside the convention. Couple of my homeboys asked me and the girls we were with to go outside & wait for them it would be safer...That was not so there were peolpe jumping on cars breaking windows as people drove out to safety......Guess what ? I don't remember seen a cop....

  • @OLDSKOOFOO1

On your comment on not seeing any police: I looked this up because I had heard, recently, that the police response record had been recovered and was posted online. I haven't found it, yet. I guess that the response time was shamefully long. There's suipposed to be a few other documents with this paperwork, as well, that I'm curious to see as I have no idea what they are.

  • WOW..... I was there! I was curious to see if there was anything on it on YOUTUBE. Verbal memeory is cool, but I have even a better memory. I have a scare on my cheek from a chair that was thrown that Night. I was taken to Long Beach memorial in an ambulance along with 3-4 others. I was 15 at the time and it was my first rap concert also. Real Scary stuff man... I was up in the Upper level stage right watching all the beat downs and before you know it, POW!!! folding chair to the face.

  • I remember being @ Raising Hell like it was yesterday. I was right in front just left of the stage were all that bs went down. Scared as hell 2 for the record. I was 17 and that was my 1st concert as well. LL did his thing! I love the 80's

  • gospelfunkmusic please tell me more i was 9 playing raising hell and still live in detroit you should have seen fresh fest in detroit

  • Never got to see RUN DMC that night.

  • It was crazy and we got the hell outta there.

  • I was 19 at the time and you are right whodini was singing "im a ho" and all of a sudden all the white stage lights came on and all you could see is the floor going crazy in front of the stage. After the gangs started fighting with any white person in the crowd. The news media tried to say it was black vs latino gangs, but what I saw it was black on black at first, then they started to fight with everyone else. Also at one point one guy started throwing chairs at security. Security retaliated

  • YO i went to dat shit and took a pic for my jr high year book with dat shirt LMAO damn i miss those days word!

  • Sheeeesh! I was at one of the dates at the Hammersmith Odeon in the UK and remember being very impressed with Whodini. Can relate to why it all kicked off when they started doin' "I'm a Hoe". After all ,it was pretty much gansta-rap tune.

  • Wow, that is a CRAZY story! Fish nets? That's sooo Land of the Lost! I wouldn't think that would actually work, but I guess if the net is followed swiftly with an ass beating, it would...

    Crazy...

  • yeah all i remember seeing was the girl and dude in that fish net i couldn't understand why he was covering her face with his FILA hat it was drenched in blood from her face and was little protection from the beating they were getting, pretty sick!!!

  • I always wondered where rap shows originally got their reputation for being violent....I guess now I know.

  • yeah there was another incident in 89 at the NWA COLD ROCKIN SPRING BREAK where eazy e and nwa had to fight there way backstage ,the stage at the celebrity theater in anahiem,ca was in the center of the audience and a mini riot broke out and onstage even that dude from married with childeren was there "bud bundy" he ran backstage ice cube was in the crowd fighting 1 on 1 with a dude and outside more shooting in the parking lot that was pretty much tha last violent concert i went to

  • @GOSPELFUNKMUSIC

There was the riot in Liverpool, England at a Beastie Boys show where the cops gassed the theater, I think it was in '87 if memory serves. Ad-Rock was arrested for "inciting attendees to riot" though that was the furthest thing from the truth: The band had been pelted with beer cans and coins driving them off of the stage before the chairs started flying from the balcony.

Tipper Gore ate this shit up and used it in her PMRC nanny club to scare the shit out of parents.

  • i was 15 years old when that concert went down, for many years i did not want to go to anymore concerts until i got older, thats how bad that shit was!

  • yup same here the stuff that went on that night was out there i also seen people jumping from the 2nd floor in the arena, only other concert that was crazy after that was the cold rockin spring break in 89 @ the celebrity theater they stopped the show because of the fighting while eazy doing "we want eazy" they rushed the stage and everyone boned out only one scrapping was ice cube he jumped into the audience and was holding his own 4 real
