  • I'm 12 and I someday want to help people through cancer and stuff.

I want to become an organ donor and maybe give people my marrow, but only if I know i will survive and if the other person survives as well. Like they say, sharing is caring -3

  • @101nazza good luck. Hope you do someday.

  • It's not that painful people, I have donated my marrow 3 times. The only discomfort i feel is when the anesthetics ware off and i feel a bit sore. However i completely heal within about 5 days.

  • That looks incredibly painful. oo;

So they drill directly INTO the bone and actually take marrow to test it?

  • @loszhor yes.

  • this is great.

  • i just got A bone marrow 2day, i feel rlly sore in my lower back lol :p

  • Good video, but "SnareCoil?" What a terribly non-medical, non-serious name. Sounds like a sci-fi weapon or torture device. Who created the name, some college gamer?

  • im getting a bone marrow biopsy tommorrow 'cause i have a severe case of ITP

  • terrifying

  • Mortal Kombat like music for effect.....

  • dear god, that looks like it hurts.. im gonna have bone marrow biopsy on saturday.. damn

  • I don't know. This looks pretty dubious to me. :(

  • interesting

  • RNpedia.com for great lecture

  • im getting one this december :( ive done it b4 and im not happy to do it again

  • use full

  • I had my aspiration done under general anesthesia- best decision I ever made.

  • starts

  • Had this done today. The insertation of the needle wasn't so bad at the start thanks to local anaesthesia, but the aspiration is the worst, worst worst part! my eyes are starting to tear up now.

  • whats the aspiration?

  • @misscharliebrown123 Aspiration is when they "suck out" bone marrow liquid. It's generally done with an aspirate needle by abutting the bone, then advancing through the bony cortex into the marrow cavity. After this, marrow can be biopsied if needed. Generally, most people do find this part the worst.

  • yipes thts a big needle but good video

  • Oh gods. Call me a coward, but I think donating blood is what I'm comfortable with.

But thanks for the video; it was pretty clear, and interesting. Really good for medical students, probably. ^^

  • YW. Thanks for the comment.

  • @Serasia Donating blood or that thing, eeeew ... for some quick cash? Noooooooooo thanks!

  • @kosmosleha

    Yeah really.

I'd want nitrus and anesthesia if I did it! If they could do both of those at the same time.

One of my friends did bone marrow donation for her sister, though...so if it was for someone....but I'd still freak out probably.
