Besides, he is not taxing the rich, he is taxing almost every small business owner in the USA. 250,000 dollars a year into a small business is nothing when you think of the employees that are paid with that 250,000 dollars, the insurance, the building itself, etc. The person who owns the business will not bring in more than 30K a year. What you people don't understand is Obama isn't just going to raise income taxes. Capital gains is another tax he wants to raise.
That means when you sell your house you'll pay more. Your 401k that's attached to the stock market will earn less, because you'll pay more taxes when you cash out. The implications are endless.
I support Obama and I understand we need to fix the economy but for those of us who ARE making that kind of money; who by the way work VERY hard for it, should not have to pay the poor people. I see too many people who live shabby lives who I find to be very capable of working. But they choose not to, and now they want more gov't handouts from our pockets instead of lifting a damn finger and WORKING. Joe is right but so is Obama the taxes need to go to a better cause; To hospitals, hlthcare etc.
You're not going to "pay the poor people." You're going to pay the government more than the poor people have to pay. We're talking 3% more, as those making under 250k will pay 36% and those making over 250k will pay 39%, but only on the extra over 250k. So if you make 280k, you pay 36% on 250k and 39% on 30k. That extra you pay just goes to the government to be used for whatever (mostly military stuff these days). There are only about 5% of small business owners making over 250k...
They don't talk about this in Congress and certainly not in the corporate media, but the wealthiest 1 percent of the population earns more income today than the bottom 50 percent.
The top 1 percent own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent.
We have, by far, more inequality in terms of income wealth than any other Western industrialized nation on the planet.
Thus, there is nothing wrong with increasing taxes for the wealthy. It's not redistribution of wealth, it's just taking more from those who have and taking less from those who don't have. It's not some siphon from the wealthy to the poor, it's just more money in the government's pocket from one than from another.

Instead of giving candy out I decided to try something different to show my willingness to learn and understand Obama's new tax plan. I am going to take candy out of the kid's bags who have a whole lot of candy in them and give it to the kid's who were too lazy to hit as many houses. Besides, he is not taxing the rich, he is taxing almost every small business owner in the USA. 250,000 dollars a year into a small business is nothing when you think of the employees that are paid with that 250,000 dollars, the insurance, the building itself, etc. The person who owns the business will not bring in more than 30K a year. That's not the American Dream. I could get a job driving a forklift making 30K a year.

He is keeping the status quo for the Middle, subsidizing the bottom, and confiscating off the top (above 120k). You're not going to "pay the poor people." You're going to pay the government more than the poor people have to pay. We're talking 3% more, as those making under 250k will pay 36% and those making over 250k will pay 39%, but only on the extra over 250k. So if you make 280k, you pay 36% on 250k and 39% on 30k. That extra you pay just goes to the government to be used for whatever (mostly military stuff these days). There are only about 5% of small business owners making over 250k...

So if you make more money, you can help out the country a bit more by paying a bit more on the extra you make (not the entire amount, just whatever you make over 250k, so if you make 280k then you pay extra on 30k). It doesn't just get dumped in the pockets of the less wealthy. They just pay less which frees them up to spend more on the products and services the wealthy and the less wealthy provide.

Instead of giving candy out I decided to try something different to show my willingness to learn and understand Obama's new tax plan. I am going to take candy out of the kid's bags who have a whole lot of candy in them and give it to the kid's who were too lazy to hit as many houses. I think anyone that works for their money, rich or poor, deserves every penny of it. We should use this money to educate the poor and disadvantaged and give them jobs, not just toss it at them so they can buy some shit for the week.

As usual this video points out the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. The attitute where he really says,,,you can drown in the river and I am not going to save you.
