Having multi-American roots I'm well aware of the low-brow American global attitude. That is, seeing the US through rose coloured glasses - some not even aware that the American Revolution was more to do with the slave trade than the tea tax... but what can the rest of the world say to silly little girls like thegirl44. All she knows is that the USA has TEN TIMES the military & she can say whatever she wants!. Unlike most US citizens she is not "TALKING SOFTLY" as per TR's W. African quote!

I don't really know what you're referring to, but yes Canada and America are very similar. That doesn't really take away from anything I said, I'm sure. However, I would hazard to guess that Canada is not as bad as America, probably just as a result of population size and politics. People always make fun of Canadians for being "nice" and there is some truth to it in general...our politics are definitely more liberal and tolerant than America's.

And at the end of the day america has a president who is of color. Where's canada's if its so tolerant?

You can't measure how progressive a nation is based on the color of its president's skin. You have to look at how ALL the citizens of that country are treated.

Plus there is the phenomenon of self-hatred. Hitler was part Jewish, did you know?

Also, just because you are Black/Native, does not mean you can speak for the experiences of all African or Native Americans in the US. Maybe you've lead a charmed life but it's pretty arrogant to think that means no one else has to face racism/discrimination.

With the US, a lot depends on where you live.
