Rain is one of his best drum contributions, and that song is actually slowed down fron A to G which means he is playing even faster than what we hear. The last section in Long Tall Sally is untouched! I wish cameras could have caught that particular section of the song. There are so many great moments with him, although for the most part ,due to the fabs hectic schedules, Ringo was merely alowed time to quickly provide what was needed.
Ringo is mediocre on the drums and his singing is average at best. I bet Paul & John used to have to sneak back into the studio to record over his awful drumming in secret - the man has a support drummer for god's sake! To top it all off he tells his fans he's not interested and to stop sending him stuff because he'll 'bin it'. Then he releases a new album. Twat.
George Harrison: Ringo has the best backbeat I’ve ever heard.
Paul McCartney: Ringo, Moonie, and John Bonham would be my three main drummers…for feel and emotion and economy, they’re always there. Particularly, Ringo. (and a postcard to Ringo) You are the greatest drummer in the world. Really.
John Lennon: Ringo is a damn good drummer…Paul and Ringo stand up with any of the rock musicians. …as pure musicians, as inspired humans to make the noise, they are as good as anybody.
He may not be a fancy drummer who constantly shows off his technical prowess like Keith Moon or Neil Peart, but keeping beat and making other musicians sound good is a technical prowess in itself.
Music has changed so much in 46 years. In my day the wildest drum solo was In-A-Gada-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. It wasn't about Metal and shredding and crazy guitar solos. It was more about the words and meaning of the song. Sure we had great musicians but they just didn't center on instrumentals. Take Tommy James who had great music but the lead guitar was very simple licks but it was still great music.

Yeah I wouldn't say he sucks, he's just not an excellent drummer. He's got his own style and that style only sounds good with three other people. A lot of drummers are like that.

Watch him drum live with the Beatles on the roof in 1969, so so tight and flawless. Holding the rock steady all day long as George said.

Yea... Ringo... You look cool when you just talk, but your drumming sucks. Sorry, but it's the truth.
