Art institute, Vancouver film school, animation mentor have great teachers, but lack one vital ingrediant. All the animations use the same characters with very similar expressions from every student. I think if anyone is going to pay a huge amount of money, they should atleast allow & encourage the students to develope and explore their own creativity with their projects as they are given the tools to work with. That would be worth the money then!
I dont think thats the goal of animation mentor. They just focus on animation and not on the sidestuff like modeling texturing. People who do animationmentor dont want to learn that. They want to learn how to animate. And if you would do all those other stuff, you wont get at good as you could have been when you're only focussing on animation
Although I agree with you...I wouldn't say someone who is interesting in modeling and texturing wouldn't be good at animation. They could be good at both, it just takes extra time and twice, if not, three times the amount of know how and work.
No your right, but then again i didn't say that someone who is interested in modeling and texturing wouldn't be good at animation.
There are plenty of people who are experts in animation, texturing and modeling. I'm just saying AMentor lets the students focus on animation only so they can become much better then when they would do everything. I dunno, im starting AM in 3 months and thats just how i feel about it ;)
Tis' true. It's a wonderful program. I'm currently majoring in animation, and I've had to do both thus far. It would be nice to focus on just one thing..
Your majoring? Nice! You have any work on youtube? Coz i'm trying to learn as much as i can before i start AM. Maybe you've got something special to show?
I dont know about something special to show, but yeah I have stuff on my site....just click on my name. Or you could look up KCAI animation in general, there's some really nice stuff on there. Also, I bought a book that helped me out a lot, and I still use it. The Animators Survival Kit.
The animators survival kit, yea i got that one to. Had to buy it before i start AM with another book called Illusion of Life. I dunno ASKit is better because it really goes into the animation aspect more. But hey i cant find any of your work. Do you have a link?
NICEEEE!!! I liked the whale thing...uhm clay mation? No wait...Whalemation hehe...Very well done! Must have taken some time to make it, right? Wow 4 months since my last post, im starting AM next month!!! Cant wait!! And by the way i wonder if you have anything in 3D animation...not that your 2d stuff is bad, but just curious to know if you can do 3D as well.
Well thanks. Yes it was Whalemation! Mahahahah. Anyways I do have some Maya stuff I worked on in an introduction class. I'm surprised I didn't put any on here. I usually post that stuff to Channel Frederator Raw. A lot animators and artists post work there...I'm to sure where my disks are with my maya stuff on it...it wasn't that great to be honest. I'm dirty my hands in After Effects right now. We spend the entire year on After Effects and Maya! I'm excited and good luck to you!!!!!!!!!
Carlos: Felicitaciones!...Aprecio mucho tu trabajo como animador es de gran ayuda y me motiva cada vez mas a seguir en este mundillo de la ANIMACIÓN...
