  • at 2,43 you look like a tengu mask i saw somehwere in youtube

only the face was red or something and the expression a bit mad

  • LOL Jacob? Random

  • 0:53 LOL the doors nearly closed

  • i fell in love when he said he named the crow jacob roflmao <3

  • They are the garbage of the society.

A lot of Japanese are despising them.

This night worker is many KOREAN and Chinease

they are not Pure blood japanese

i want kill them from japan

  • why does ken fully white but have strong japanese accent?? weird

  • @delli2011 Ken is an actor. His accent frequently changes.

  • Ken Tanaka reminds me to Ed from Cowboy Bebop.

  • So Ken are u half Japanese? just curious.

And also great video shows blunt honest side of Japanese guys.

Not particually the salary men side bt the youth male side anyway.

  • @samurainz400 He's really actor David Ury. Look him up. But, his Ken character is entertaining.

  • Best video from this guy so far

  • I think Ouran High School should change it's club's name...

  • Fill that ginormous hole in your heart with McRibs my Asiatic host friend. Fill it to the brim. *chokes up on tears.* :'{

  • There's more to this video than meets the eye. Wonderful job Middlefield Fist :)

  • I thought people suddenly going into poetry mode when drunk was a typical Japanese movie thing, you don't expect someone actually doing this in real life.

'I don't think the void in one's heart ever goes away'

    damn...

  • @noxure that poetry mode when drunk thing happens all over the world. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people get poetic and "deep" when they're drunk

  • Thank you. You have changed my perspective of Japanese people. Wonderful. Sublime. And at 5 a.m. Crow chorus time!

  • Comment removed

  • those guys seemed drunk already 0.0

  • Who would have thought that you'd have such a deep conversation at 5 in the early morning with a drunk?

From all the interviews with hosts that I've seen, it always boils down to those same issues he mentioned. The hostesses feel empty because of the work they do and try to fill up that void at host clubs. And in turn the hosts feel lonely and empty and go to cabaret clubs. They'd still go down that vicious spiral for some while even after they quit being hosts. :S

  • drunk...at 5 am, and thats ok??? i am living in the wrong country (its 4am and i am drunk atm, but...where the fuck would i go at this time in USA?? nowhere, exactly)

  • So why were you up at 5 am exactly 田中さん?

  • woooow that dudes voice (not Ken) he sounded like a yopparai or like he was on drugs lol

  • I know how to fill that void, and it will always be filled. :) ^w^

  • Do any Japanese men need to shave or do they not grow facial hair whatsoever?

  • @10menonachest some grow beards and moustaches, some leae it scruffy but generally young Japanese men only keep a short moustache or none at all.

  • i found unko! :D 1:19 !

  • @yomommacalled Great job!

  • Harro Youtube, itsu me...David Yuri <_<

  • I love japan's sin city, its more artistic.

  • Thats actually really honest what yu're friend said, and i guess it could be a bit true. I loved the crow bit hahahaha xx

  • Aw ;_; "They temporarily fill the void in one's heart.." D:

  • 面白いのね。。。彼らは酔っ払いましたね!

  • Thats why Mexico's its so screwed up. Everyone's ideology its to go to spend there money on table dances. ANd im guilty of that too. shhh!! dont tell my wife...

  • 5 stars

  • ROFL you named your beard Jacob, though o_0

And also, were those guys at the beginning already drunk at 5AM??

  • あの男は非常にハンサムだった。

  • why this guy talk so funny? is he foreigner or japanese?

  • @shlongreallong look in the description "...on my recent trip back home to japan. ...."

    so yeah, he's japanese

  • he's from COOKING WITH DOG, ugly guy no wonder he looked liike the dog too

  • great video and message!

  • Wow, this is a very insightful video. What the guy said about a void in one's heart and filling it is very true as well. It's the same reason why some guys go to Strip Clubs here in the United States. It's like the hostess said, they are "selling a dream".

  • A fascinating insight into Japan, Tanaka-san. Arigatou!

  • such a honest man..... but a little drunk....

that 2 chicks is good looking, too... no wonder they always have customers.....

  • great video! I was very surprised by such a thought out and honest answer from such a young looking guy.

  • those girls at 1.00 ..X-p i would DIE for ..

  • Aww, well the japanese guy/boy was really cute : 3

  • jacob, thats my name

  • Haha the last bit made me laughed.

I think the commentator is rather cute xD

  • indeed, that was as deep as the mariana pit!

i think that guy wouldd be a great friend of mine! :D

  • I named that craw jacob! XD

  • Ken does not look Japanese

  • HAHAHAAHAH THAT GUY!!

  • Epic guy.

  • I would imagine the same thing would go for strip clubs in the states as well. Great video almost documentary style.

  • Smart guy, Japan could do with a few thousand more like him.

But stop talking like a tard, otherwise your videos are interesting, even as a guy who's been here 6 years ;)

  • "I named that crow Jacob." - haha

  • @upright619 which part did he say that?

  • Now that was deep.

    We love you too, Ken.

  • Hye, this is very interesting! I like it a lot.

  • Freaking brilliant. Ken, you are doing great things.

  • Very interesting indeed.

  • Ken....you are funny as hell!! LOL!! Very insightful to!!

  • That guy was kool, great video.

  • great video, it´s sad but it´s all true. shyoganai na!

  • that dude was drunk. lol

    that is some funny shit

in america, we like strippers because they are individuals with loose values.

    but right on anyway

  • Yeah, Americans like strippers but strippers are nothing like hostess girls. Hostess girls pretty much act like your girlfriend and talk to you and "fill the void" while strippers just get naked.

  • hello Ken, you speak Nihongo very well. I love the video. Have fun in Japan.

  • awe, the guy was cute 'o'~ lol @ jacob XD

  • Great video kensan. I especially liked the part where you ask him "So this concern over the economy is what brings you to club sugar?" ROFLMAO

Really like all your videos BTW

  • Actually a really nice video about a difficult subject.

  • That was amazing. You have a real skill as an interviewer and a talent fo brining out people's thoughts and feelings. I love this video and really enjoy your channel! -Kurt :-)

  • It's a self esteem thing and a spiritual thing... the human body needs to be connected to a power bigger than his/her own... if this does not happen, the void and feeling of loneliness will still be there... That's why most people who believe in God are so sure of themselves...

  • it like a strip club pay a lot of money and go home with blue balls.

  • His friend was drunk, but he told something verry deep in his heart.. =x a little bit sad..

  • ROFL HE NAMED THE CROW JACOB XD XD XD

  • 心の隙間ねえ・・・

  • おもしろかった。

  • Honest answer indeed. I would have said the same thing.

But then again if I was as drunk as that dude [naming that crow Jacob], I would probably be too shitfaced to think about a proper answer.

  • japanease girls are so HOT ;D

  • I think the void in your heart can be filled if you have dreams, and work hard to make your dreams come true. On the romance bit however, it's best to just be yourself. I think it's sad that some people think that they'll never be fully happy, maybe that's why Japan has such a high rate of suicide.

I'm not against people enjoying themselves with hostess or whomever, I'm just saying that kind of thing doesn't solve any problems... not even temporarily. Don't ask me how I know.

  • good video. sexy girls.

  • Waaa..

    Was the dude drunk?

    Nevertheless he sounded deep.

Are there people like that in America I wonder.

    Haven't found one yet ;)

  • this is a very sincere and true about the japanese people

  • This is great video.

  • I think the japanese dude was drunk, but I applaud him for his blunt honesty, actually though in the beginning I always thought something was amiss in this hostess thing, she said they're selling a dream but actually they're just selling an illusion

  • nice video, and why do i see the philippine flag ther on the door

  • interesting video, danke

  • I love this vid ken!!! you are awesome!! gambate kudasaii!!!

  • krubb shugga

  • Ha Ha Ha He is speaking Japanese English, its so funny.

  • "selling dreams", this was one of my favorite videos

  • if this episo wasn't scripted, I truely could relate to what that friend of your said. He seem smart and genuine. In my opinion, this is one of the best video by far...lolz you gotta be really lonely to hit those places that early in the morning. Thanks for the vid

  • OMG i love asian hairr!!! <33333 lovesss!

  • Awe. I do want to hug the poor guy.

I really get what he said.

  • A very interesting little social study of current form of society. Keep going on Tanake-San!

  • wow 5 a.m and that bright??!!!

  • "I named that crow Jacob."

    THAT is RANDOM.

    haha

  • Watashi no chicken flavored teriyaki. O.o

    XD

I speak fluent Japanese (Not lying). XD That was funny.

  • somehow the last japanese guy is a bit look alike one of JE idol,,kamenashi kazuya

  • I was thinking the same thing! Akanishi said he saw a Kame look alike in Shinjuku. Maybe it was this guy.

  • Oh you pay attention to Kat-tun too ne~? xD

Well in my opinion maybe it wasn't this guy,,coz this guy looked more yasashi than kakkoi deshou~ And he doesn't appear like he loved to dressed-up too,,

I wish there're a lot of ordinary japanese guys who look like JE boys ne~ I'll put my eyes on Yamapi's look alike xDDD

  • Yea. I'm a JE fan!

I think you're right. Maybe it wasn't this guy. But maybe if he dress up he could be mistaken for Kame. XD

That'd be cool if you saw a Yamapi look alike!

  • If I saw Yamapi's copy I'll absolutely take him home with me lol xDDDDD

  • Comment removed

  • @advenavee Omg Kame! xD ..Well he doesn't really look like Kame but he's cool and insightful nonetheless ;) .. hmm I wonder if Kame does these kinda things o_O .. lol

  • ken tanaka meets hitomi tanaka~

  • HELP ME PLEASE....

  • "I named that crow Jacob!" lol. That dude needs a hug. a Manly hug.

  • thats a bloody bright 5 am lmao

  • this is so sad and funny at the same time

i'm so conflicted on how i should feel *__*

that guy needs some love, man

  • Comment removed

  • This might be my favourite of the numbered Ken Tanaka videos. Yeah, I have been through 41 so far (in correct order, of course). Ken should have his own show! It takes talent to be able to draw such honesty from a stranger in front of a camera.

  • i think it's even harder in japan, since they're camera shy and don't think very much of foreigners... of course, ken isn't a foreigner...

  • 1:16

  • 1:18

  • me and that guy need to hang out ^-^

when i was in japan i named pigeons

    O.o....

  • i feel the strong urge to hug that guy T__T

  • "I don't think the void in one's heart ever go away"

    that was deep... T__T

  • actually he was just responding to the Ken's question , but infact he himself admits that selfish people go to these places or work there, and they cannot be trusted (he admits). Btw, this is their 'own'country, so tehy can do whatever, they treat each other like brothe and sister, if they were in another country they would act more well behaved and reserved etc...IT IS THEIR OWN COUNTRY!

  • This is a powerful video

  • haha fun

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! I was blown away by you video. It was beautiful and sad at the same time.

  • See our vid response you have to look our channel

  • I NAMED THAT CROW JACOB.. so random.. i love randomness.

  • Comment removed

  • that was deep what the jap said at the end especialy because i did not see that coming. I'm going to us it in my book!

  • To cipslim: I don't think you meant it in an insulting way, but "Jap" is a very rude way to refer to a Japanese person. It dates back to WWII when there was a sudden fear and irrational hatred of Japanese-Americans because of Japan's involvement with Germany. So, please be careful to avoid that word so that you don't seriously offend someone you don't mean to offend. R-chan

  • I see. I have 2 Japanese friends and they say it's short for Japanese(especialy in SMS). After i told them they said that they don't feel that way and feel that they can't be offended by this as they are proud to be Japanese. I am not American and i had no idea that all youtube comments should be politically correct from the American perspective. If you ppl have spoiled this abv. it doesn't mean that it is the same for everybody. Chill out man, this is the real world.

  • The first guy talking with Ken seems to be Non-Japanese. His accent is a bit strange. Perhaps he does that intentionaly.

  • I NAMED THAT CROW JACOB.

  • wow FAIL he needs a good gf

  • that's just a lame excuse. i dont buy it. maybe he should get a gf.

  • "in order to insure Japan's future success you go to Club SUGAR" so honest/or a little drunk(?)... o_0; so many Jacobs...

  • Tokyo still has the crow problem O.o

  • Ken Tanaka... is a character that was made by David Ury who was raised in Sonoma, California and began his acting career on Japanese television as the "zany Japanese speaking foreigner". David learned to speak Japaense fluently while at college in Tokyo and currently translates and writes English adaptations for Japanese comics (manga). He is 100% American and was never adopted in Japan.

  • Good try David Ury... you are no Andy Kaufman. This is not an original idea... to fake a pseudo character, and try to convince people you are two different people. Funny... though. Entertaining, but a bit weird. Would be better if you just did the character without the horrible (insulting) accent. Be nice to see you just be yourself (funny, fluent in Japanese, etc) Like Dave Spector デーブ・スペクター

  • I hate how people pretend to have Japanese accents.

    Its annoying.

  • You know, KEN, you may pretend to be Japanese, and that's... weird.

And you may pretend to be insightful... but you're not.

Girls in Japan (as someone who lives there, you should know only too well) are mostly shy, and very polite. If they work at any place with a sexual orient, it's usually not because they enjoy it. Consider a love hotel, which is like a place for escorts to offer their services.

This man is wrong. A girlfriend can fill a void, he just hasn't seen inside himself yet.

  • Comment removed

  • I was talking about the guy he was interviewing, not Ken. and I think Ken actually grew up in japan, I don't think he is making fun of anyone.

  • Ummm, sorry Ken but Kyabakura girls do A LOT more than pour drinks. Kyabakura is not the same as a "HOSTESS CLUB," mate. Even at Hostess Clubs, many do more than pour a drink but guys go to kyabakura because they know that's where it's guaranteed. "Girl's Bars" are where the literally just pour the drinks and chat.

  • kyabakura..thats my 5th word when i 1st came to japan.hahaha

  • Hmm, did one of the cuys call Ken "onii-chan" as in brother? And I thought the Japanese guys use "Ore wa" instead of "Watashi wa" for "I"?

  • "onii-chan" means big brother, he called him that just to show respect to ken. Japanese use "watashi" or "watakushi" on formal conversation and "ore" for casual, also "ore" is commonly use by boys only as "atashi" for girls.. ja! ^^

  • Yes I know that onii-chan means big brother, I just thought I heard wrong that's why I asked :P

But it's sooooo confusing the watashi and ore

  • i named that crow jacob!

  • your japanese is great i wish i had more chance to learn more speaking japanese. i love japanese girls and i like your video. and japanese girl sexually hot or is it just me?

  • :) so cute lol

  • I bet jacob and his friend are spending time together every morning.

  • hahahaahha that drunk guy is great!!!!

  • LOL "I named that crow Jacob!"

  • thank u 4 sharing .japanese is hard for westen....

  • Thank you for sharing an interesting video!

Such a great ending with Jacob...haha

  • 客さんはいい男だね。

    Jacobって可愛過ぎだ。

  • Your Japanese is Awesome , i wish i can come to visit Japan in the future.

  • it's his native language so im pretty sure he can speak it well.

  • I'd have named the crow Jacob, too. Seriously, I saw that crow and said "If that crow had a name, it'd be Jacob."

    重い白いイですねー。。。

  • *面白い。。。ですね。。。

  • どもありがとございます :)

  • とても良かったです。いろんな意味で興味深いです。酔っぱらいの男の子の雰囲気が友達に似ていて、笑ってしまいました。

  • Pour drinks?! Why not just pay a few yen more for a blowjob? That'll fill your void, kid.

  • Haha....Its interesting, when I was locked up, one of the guys in my pin was a HOST in Kabukichou and actually he said the same sort of thing about the work itself. The answers are so brutally over thought out and absurd.

  • how so? Just asking.

  • Hahahaha! To fill the void in my heart that's just legendary!

  • Very true.

  • this vid always makes me tear up, i feel sad.

  • ha ha Jacob.

  • great vid
