@MrT1N0123 Yes I should, or rather I should have. I made the first unit in 2008 for work and play and a buddy suggested making the egg timer DIY. I should have kept it to myself and tried selling it. Unfortunately, some folks saw my original video and copied it and are selling them today. It sucks, but what can you do? The internet is full of thieves, if you have a good original idea, DON'T put it up on the web.
@Getawaymoments yah i saw on ebay someone was selling them and i message them and asked if they were you also they were selling them for 50$ you should be the one getting the money
@MrT1N0123 Well at this point the best thing I can do is show people that you can make one on your own for much less ..... and it will be better quality. One product that is out there is just cheap with plastic threads. Check any of these folks out and see the "videos" they have made, you can look through my channel and see my progression, I just wish I could post my work lapses from early 2008. Very cool and nobody was doing it at the time.
hey after watching this i went to ikea and i bought the one with the flat surface, it's perfect for the gopro, just a little bit heavy but still ok ;D
Thanks for the well done step-by-step guide. I had made serveral Mainstay units and they are not as easy to make up as these are. I like the metal one shown and I will also make a few from the plastic ones at Ikea. I like being able to use the flat camera mounts or even the tripod mounts from the GoPro on the metal timer.
The metal timer works great with super-light cameras since it cannot take much weight. I used it with my regular HD camcorder and the timer would stop due to the weight. ....just my 2 cents.
@mestizolove Which HD camera? Most compact cameras have no problem. But yes, these kichen timers have a limited ability, gopros and point and shoots work great.
@CreatePixel Velcro, I made a home-made flotation device that attaches to the back, the new gopro floaty is much better then my homegrown attempt. ..... anything is worth a try
Thanks for making this! I went around to a few hardware stores and none of them carry the specific bushing that you used. Any recommendations? Thanks again!
@minopino77 Try a full service camera store, mine keeps them behind the counter. If not you can get them from B&H. They are a buck or two. Sometimes you can find them in an old tripod or photo gear, re-purpose!
Thanks for the howto. Cheers!
