I dunno, is this French woman working for a French animation company stationed in the U.S.? Cuz most European film-making and animation companies really likes to push for stories with edgier themes and with a small production budget (like an independent art-house film). A good example would be Persepolis. No offense, but maybe there is a clash of culture in your film and their company's beliefs?

Well...it's an animated holiday feature so it's well into the millions. It's the nature of the beast. We can go for something a lot cheaper, but in general, the more money put into an animated movie, the more PA it's given, the better it does at the box office. So it's gamble, indeed.
