I love at 2:23 they use the animal that he created; the head of an owl, armadillo body, movement of a slug and peacock feathers. These cartoon versions are great, they really add something special to it all.
I saw a program not that long ago about a bird that could imitate noises it had heard, almost perfectly. So in a sense, the bird that sounds like a Ford Escort is real!!
@Gasoline85 The bird Karl is getting confused with is the Lyrebird of Australia. And it's not sounding like a Ford Escort lol, they mimic the sound of bulldozers that destroy the forests around them. They can mimic almost any sound. But that sound has to be present. Anyway, feel free to search youtube for Lyrebird videos.
@MrSiiKez That's what I meant. I know it has to have heard the sound before it can imitate it. But suppose a Ford Escort came by (I know it's a bit far out), in theory it could imitate that sound. ^_^
I think hes talking about sound frequencies and how limited the range is because he is comparing it to the vast amount different sounds there are, so the probabillity of reusing the same frequency it higher.
Everything that comes out of Karl's facehole is essentially a Zen Buddhist Koan: It sounds like utter nonsense or garbage by itself, but when you actually make the effort to understand it, it's the most brilliant thing imaginable.
@alexab4 No hes not.... He has no knowledge, he reads headlines of stories and makes up the rest as he suits, Even if he did have knowledge, he has no application to that knowledge. He undoubtedly has the IQ of a moron, He has childs logic, and people who seem to think hes a genius in disguise are just kidding themselves.
this really is the biggest load of nonsense karl has ever come up with, it literally blew my mind the moment he said, "every noise in the world has been made at least five times" , maybe if i was high i'd understand him haha
I'm doing Psychology work while listening to this. We have to take a hypothesis, and then go through a 5-step-process testing it. I'm using Karl's "Less deaf people die of stress" hypothesis.
I think I understand Karl's point here very well. Basically the point is that every sound being emitted as a result of an event has a certain frequency, wavelength, amplitude and so on which determine how that sound will be percieved by, in this case, a human ear. If we assume the number of variations discernable to the human ear to be finite, there must come a point where the number of times any audible noise has been emitted exceeds this number of possible variations.
@Jornev I understand his point, there's only x amount of possible sounds and so they will all be used up eventually. But c'mon, it's still bollocks and pretty funny :)
@GauntV yh I kind of get the jist of what he is on about but it is still one of karls classic MENTAL concepts that not even himself can explain properly
@GauntV Are there a limited number of colours though? Take light green and dark green for example. You can find a shade in between that is darker than the light green and lighter than the dark green. Then you can find another shade in between the light green and the new green. This process could be repeated an infinite number of times, finding a new shade of green each time.
I do see what you and Karl are getting at though.
Soooo funny. Karl basically means that for everything in the world it has a noise. And he's saying that eventually things will run out of noises and the same noises will have to be used again like a Ford escort in a new breed of frog XD
it makes you want to understand him doesn't it? - I never used t like this show and now i get addicted to it, I find it hard not to join in and laugh AT karl WITH ricky and stephen - genius.
Until right now I never thought about any of this. Glod Bless you, Karl Pilkington. You poor, stupid man.

well I think he means that every individual sound wave that could ever exist has been produced
so absolutely every variation in a waves formation from frequency, amplitude, wavelength and velocity has existed at least 5 times before
