I know this was a spoofy song written by REM about Rockville, Georgia, but I grew up in Rockville, CT & man does it ever ring so true!!! My f-ing theme song for many years! Well done cover....
Natalie should have stayed with 10000 Maniacs. Together, they had a magic that simply cannot be duplicated, no matter how good the replacement artist is.
@fjfielder Robert Buck passed away and, basically destroyed the magic 10KM band had. In addition to Natalie growing away from 10KM band concept to put it lightly. Natalie had three decent CD's after leaving 10KM and, toured with her own band as you probably know. I really like it when Natalie mixes it up with other performers.... 95% of the time.
I love this version as well, but the bassist changed the bassline, which is almost sacrilege because Mike Mills has NEVER picked a bad note to play. But Natalie has such a sultry voice, it's cool.
I love Natalie but this version doesn't come close to the raw and powerful accoustics and harmonizing of REM's... I imagine as many as 10 guitars in perfect unison playing this song
It does not get any better than Natalie of the Maniacs covering one of my favorite R.E.M. Thanks for posting this song. It brighten my day everytime I listen to it. Natalie is one of my favorite singers. This song makes me feel 24 years old again.
yea a great tune

@MrDougTucker: Because it came from the "Candy Everybody Wants" EP, which only included the audio track.

I think that bands that do covers of other bands songs are CUNTS..
but fuck me this is brilliant. i LOVE 10,000 maniacs and would marry Natalie in
a flash. This is a great version. Respect.

I like REM, but I like this song only by way of Nat's version. A mite more emotive, maybe.
