  • The guy with the shield kinda failed as he could have disarmed that axeman =)

The traditional round shield was made with intent so it would easily break, so the enemy weapon would get stuck in it. Then there were the shields for bigger fights, those would take a real beating and not break.

  • COOL

  • now i know you dont always win but DAMN your good.

  • that looks fucking funny

  • Really excellent stuff! As a writer trying to understand just what sword and shield combat would look like, this has been immensly helpful.

  • Love the Dane Axe! I'm a spearman myself. Great respect to you guys, if I only had a "life" and actually knew people/had friends that would be interested in this, I'd form my own group or look to join one. Indiana is just way to boring.

  • Im norwegian :)

  • i think hes angry hey there lil feller you need to calm down its going to b ok (in a high pitched voice)

  • great fight! but those who were watching had no respect

  • what makes you say that? Because they were laughing....?

Actually that is more of a nervous reaction.

  • @tarrkoc Because it was hilariously bad, that's why.

  • The first fight wa something

  • this looks extremely dangerous

  • You're intressted in Scandinavian old "Norse" Viking culture, right? Do you have relatives generations back from Scandinavia or?

  • looks cool, but the watchers are stupid, because the laugh... Don't they understand that this was a quite real fight and everytime one of these Man would have been dead??

The equipment is really impressive! Respect!

    Greets from Germany.

  • Greetings to you!

Thanks man. Oddly enough some of the laughter is of the nervous kind. We see it at many of our shows, where folks just don't know how to react to screaming, crazy, axe and sword wielding madmen.... so they laugh at the littlest things to take away the 'scary feelings'.

  • What is this form of competative fighting called i would love to enlist in such ^^

i have a shortened battle spear with back harness, full chain mail, reinforced round sheild and a flail

i was a collector but now i want to Bash...

ps. is there a rule for crush type weapons i could see why

  • great reply

  • @skallagrimm well it seems that you guys truelly have no fear you never back down and you learn that through experience i guess (i've been doing this for a while too but then with wooden weapons too bad i quit) and we were always like watch out with that damn spear man:P but great that you do this man truelly respect you guys

  • A very good work. Really realistic. ;-)

  • nice that spear i have ^^

  • Aaaah! When you flung his sheild away, I got chills. Great fighters.

  • I haven't fought in so long

  • ahh, Vikings re-enacters... i LOVE it!!! absolutely love it!!! it so fun watching you guys, do you have any shows in norway?

    keep up the good work

  • Alas, would that not be cool?!?! We're actually in the middle of the U.S. Landlocked on all sides, yet still as 'Viking' at heart as you guys. Perhaps one day we'll make it over to Norway. Thanks for the comments!!

  • cool video! what fighting system do you use? Huscarl? I only do HEMA myself but this looked so cool I might have to start with some of it. cheers from sweden

  • We have our own system, but it's probably closest to the 'Huscarl' style used by many of the European groups. I've done a bit of HEMA, SCA, WMA,....and others etc. Our Live Steel Combat is my personal favorite... and not just 'cuz we invented it either.

  • los medios guatones

  • ajajajajaj vikingos gordos

  • sweet

  • This video is cool..and i wish i had a group like this near me..but i have to give a little constructive criticism, these guys are about as fast as the speed of smell on a stick of gum (AKA Slow as crap!).. in real combat i would want to be quick and take advantage of an enemy's weak spots after attacks..but thats just me...but over all, awesome video!

  • ...and you answered yourself... you say "in real combat". Well it's pretty obvious this isn't 'real' combat. Of course, if it were then none of us would be fighting like this either. It's a SHOW! A demonstration for an audience. Do you even fight?

  • hi where is youre group based im in regea in shrewsbury very nice video by the way

  • Thanks Jonesey! We hail from Omaha, Nebraska though we have members from all around our central U.S. area.

  • very educational! thanks for posting :D

  • this is like larp i like larp i like this video

  • Thanks, but don't kid yourself, this is NOTHING like larp.

  • its more like sca right?

  • SCA? NO! This isn't anything like the SCA....first we use steel weapons , and second we wear the correct armor for our period....not plastic barrels or carpet armor imitating plate from a much later period.

  • hahaha thnx :D

  • dude thats pretty sweet

  • As a Norwegian of Viking blood, I have to say : very impressive stuff!

Esspecially how the guy with the axe pulls off the shield from the other opponent. Very nice!

  • Cool, I realy enjoyed watching you guys fight

  • So awesome how the guy with axe pulls shield off. you guys know what your doing. keep it up!

  • Thanks man.

  • Very nice

  • We make our own hand protection from mailled mittens or thick leather covered mittens or gloves.

  • Great! Great show!

  • good show :)

  • just awsome

  • You guys are quite decent fighters.

  • I appreciate you saying so. Thank you. We've been at it for about ten years now, but have never had the numbers like you guys.

  • cool shit! it's so cool this shit is frozen.

  • you guys are the shit.
