The BOF series ends on BOF4. This is just some alternative crap...

Still, in terms of history, BOF3 is the best, but on gameplay, BOF4 rules overall. I don't know, there's something i don't like on the history of BOF4, Ryu isn't the main and central character, he is like a weapon or something. He don't participe of the dialogues and don't make an decisions. On the other BOFs, Ryu is always the head of the group, even without talking.

This is a great game, it's challenging, it has awesome music, and an enjoyable story. I beat all of the games in the series and this is not the worst. I would say 4 is the weakest entry, The character design is pathetic, Ryu has a tank top and sweats, although Scias might be the coolest character ever...I'd say BOF 2 and 3 are the top 2 then 5 then 1 or 4 but I like them all...

Also Ryu talks because in this one he's just your average person. Oh my god blasphemy, the hero is just a normal dude. He still has the blue hair but it's very dark. There's only three characters because they cover all of the classes and because of the skill system. If you pay attention to the story you would know why Nina looks like that. She's an Air Filtration genic, not some princess. There's a woman with a gun in BoFIV, she's worse imo. They're underground. STORYLINE

I wonder why people are badmouthing this particular Breath of Fire. It's the same story as the other four just told in a different universe. I personally loved this game and I still play it with 280 hours on the clock. It just doesn't get boring and if you dislike it you are not a true breath of fire fan. Simple as. This game was based on a book unlike the other four so just get over it and stop crying that Ryu talks and the fact it's a unique take on the same story.

By the reasons you listed, it sounds like it isn't the game you dislike, simply change. Change does not a bad game make. When it comes down to it it's simply personal opinion, however If you look at it not as a game from the breath of fire series, but as something with no relation to the original, I think we'll at least be able to agree that it's a good game.

I agree with you; whereas the predecessors were of course thoroughly entertaining games, BoF5 is the crown jewel of the series. It's definitely not the same game as 1-4 with a "5" thrown on top of it, but I'm glad Capcom took the risk and made something fresh. They had a story to tell and they told it the way they wanted to (and with mechanics they wanted to, for ex. D-Counter), not the easy yet-another-JRPG way. There are but a few games I really respect, and BoF5 is one of them.

Maxing out your D-counter is NOT intuitive, thus if you aren't one to ruin the game by looking up guides online, it's very difficult to know what to do here and for a moment after you max out your D-counter you think you have lost the game and have to start over. It's a feeling of suspense I haven't gotten from a game before. And don't compare this to the disgrace that is the Phantom Menance.

I only hated the fact you cant transform as much.

Then your % bar doesn't go down at all..If you're at 80% and you're not even close to last part of the game,you will not beat it at all..You'd have to start all over again..

Long as you dont use that beam attack,you might be able to transform 3x in the game.

Breath of Fire 5 was fun. They gave it an neet battle system. A cool story. And even gave the Graphics a nice kick. But I think they could've so much more with it.

Here's the only Negative sides I know to this game;

1. There were only 3 Playable Characters in the entire game. (Excluding the Temporary Character, Bosch) While the others had Twice as many more.

2. The game was too short. It needs to be longer than that.

3. There was only 1 Dragon Transformation for Ryu. It needs more than 1.

I was imaging something, what if there's some special ability for Odjn have the ability to transform into Chuck Norris? Chuck Norris is way more powerful than Odjn, and he'd pwn Chetyre in just one turn; with either a stare or his rage. you have to use dbreath until 100% no matter what, but if your dcount is to high before u get to him u will lose. It happened to me and I had to replay the game. Imo don't ever use dragon form through the game unless u really really have to and you never really need to...just level up more.

I think his hp is ajusted to your D-Counter. So if you're at 90 % he has 1000 hp, 80 % he has 2000 hp and so on ... but thats only what I'm thinking tho.

Last time I heard about BoF, I heard rumor aboutthe franchise being sold to Camelot Software Planning, the one that made Golden Sun (GBA) and Shining Force ( Sega Genesis/Sega Megadrive). If its the case, dont worry about a release in the US. But if it is really sold to Camelot software planning, then it would mean BoF 6 will make a comeback on Nintendo Console ( Wii) ( exclusivity Contract with Nintendo )
