  • GOD BLESS YOU HEAVEN, You have been a driving force through out my life, Your songs, and your life.

Till we meet in Heaven, Love in Christ, Bart

  • you wouldn't happen to have the lyrics, would you?

  • Thank you for this video. JMT is a blessing and I have enjoyed his music for many years.

  • I have found that John Michael Talbot has touched my soul with his music. If only people could open there minds and hearts that could touch there soul and heart oh what a blessing they would receive. Music of such artist should be known not hidden. I wish to thank those from my heart for taking the time and posting this and other such music for us to enjoy.

  • My dad loves this guy - I've been trying to learn some finger picking - standard stuff - landslide, dust in the wind, etc. this guy is closer to jerry reed, tommy emanuel category, but he makes it look so effortless

  • Please help me pray for my marige (Gio n Dina) God bless in his name.

  • Simply one of the best guitarists ever born.. all for the Glory of Jesus.. amen and thank you John for 16 yrs of knowing what true worship music should be.. ( I found the Lord on 16/05/93)

    Love in Christ, Chris

  • a protestant for 30 years coming home thank you jmt for your solid witness in my life blessings to our virgin mary and of course jesus our savoir jeff

  • Welcome home, brother! God bless you for your willingness to open your heart and to listen to Jesus's invitation to return home to the Roman Catholic Church, the Church that He established. May all of us of different denominations will be one in Christ Jesus!

  • Very nice!

  • Awesome! That's really tough to play. The changes are so fast and you have to make it flow. He does an amazing job of recreating this off the record. Beautiful song lyrically and musically.

  • 0.36 bruce willis on violin.

  • This is great. It's not like other Christian rock. It's way beyond. You can't always make classics, but he has made so many. Even some of his quiet ones have power to it in a subtle way like "The Empty canvas" and ones that speak to your life (like penitential psalms, esp. big for a melancholic) and are words from the Bible. If any are like him, I want to know!

  • You'd like Phil Keaggy.

  • you would like Michael Card. He and John Michael Talbot did a CD together. He is very good

  • In this era of vapid, repetitive "pop" worship choruses, the complexity of both lyric and score of this piece thrills me to the core. His musicianship makes him truly a troubadour to the Lord. I am happy to benefit from it. Thank you, John Talbot, for years of wonderful worship!

  • Bogu dzięki za JMTalbota. Już wiele lat słucham tych pieśni i zawsze poruszają mnie bardzo. Serdecznie pozdrawiam z okolic Wrocławia w Polsce!

  • I love JMT. I remember back about 30 years ago, when he was an evangelical Christian, I saw him in concert, at our little town theatre. His hair was sooo long...lol.

He sings, writes, and plays so well. Since then, he has converted to Catholicism, and I too, have become a Catholic revert. I was young and stupid, but glad and thank-ful to be back home.

By the way...I still love JMT's early music. My favorite: "Would You Crucify Him" posted on my site.

  • It might be an act of mercy to cut off the comments. There are some great websites where Church history and theological issues can be debated, but YouTube's character-count restrictions don't lend themselves to coherent arguments. Debate by slogan is not productive. My friends who run a Christian website cut off the comments to prevent ad hominem attacks and blasphemies.

Love to all, a Catholic convert with lots of evangelical relatives

  • Mucha unción es sus canciones...traen mucha paz al corazón

  • Mucha unción en la canciones de Talbot...dan mucha paz

  • This is beautiful. Great guitar playing. I love the music of John Michael Talbot. Can you tell me where I could buy some of his CDS. I sing in Lourdes with a group I am involved with who take the sick to Lourdes every year and would love to sing many of John Michael Talbot's hymns.

  • Does it matter how the Orthodox and Catholic churches were formed? Doesn't the true praise of our God matter more than petty squabbaling? Enjoy the derned music!!!

  • such an awsome talent

  • Try readin' real history, prof. Your issue should be with the World Council of Churches. They are so NWO, you'll be crying out for the Catholic Church to bring back the Holy Roman Empire. If you are Fundamentalist, look no further than the Zionists&Bushbots. All religions and anti-relig'n religns make 'stakes, sum huge. I wouldn't call the HRE that, but not all the leaders did the right things. If you want the NWO, God help you when the anti-christ comes. u'll be doing what u don't want 2.

  • I have listen to this servant of God over 25 years and his music has blessed my soul thank you John.

  • I found a video of his singing as a member of Mason Profitt (sp?) on here. I think it's him and not a cover artist.

  • He started with Mason Profitt, so it's sure to be him.

  • I agree that it shouldn't be 'stuffed down peoples' throats,' but at the same time, I think christians should still be a little more outspoken in this world. We shouldn't be so lax in letting the world run its course and even mingling with it in some ways.

Problem being that the media will either paint christians as radical fundamentalists or hypocrites, or archaic, etc.

world of sin is against the kingdom of God.

  • The gates of hell cannot prevail against his Church, as Jesus said when establishing his Church--the only Christian one around then. That can only mean the opposite is true for any other church and the counter-biblical allowance of divorce and remarriage illustrates it. That's not to say it should be stuffed down anyone's throats, but a correction was in order.

  • Mr. John Michael Talbot, I have listened to you since 1981 as a freshman in College. I am going to see you in Monroe La on Feb 10th. I learned this chord progression in 1985. You and your life is an inspiration to me.

  • First of all - amazing song, amazing God-given talents. I love listening to JMT's music.

As for all of the debating - Follow the Bible, ultimately. God didn't invent Christian denominations, but He created the Bible. Read God's word and act on it. In the end, the individual is accountable - all of the facts were presented to him/her in the form of a book. The Bible should be the source of your faith, not what religious denomination you are.

  • Actually, it's private interpretations that spawned many denominations. If everyone reads into it how they want or think they understand it, how can God talk to His people. The answer: the Church Christ set up in the upper room with those to whom he gave authority--the holders of the truth before and still after the Bible was compiled, according to the Bible.

  • I can talk to God through prayer, thanks to the sacrifice Jesus made. When the temple curtain ripped, symbolic of God being available to everyone, it means that anyone who puts their faith and trust in Jesus can talk to God.

And Jesus also left us the Holy Spirit. That leaves "personal interpretations" out of the picture. The very Spirit of God can "teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said to you."

  • But different groups lay claim to the teachings of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, yes, anyone can talk to God. The devil can talk to anyone as well and that's how Catholics who scandalized those who listened to the devil and started new Christian faiths were started. I was responding to the one who said the Bible is all there is to Christianity. The Church was given the keys to interpret it. This goes for certain schismatic "Catholic traditionalists" as well

  • Great singer; great song; GBY john

  • Lets have no fighting here...can you begin to imagine how jesus must feel about this? I'm a Quaker who loves Br Talbots music...he is a man of God! Praise the Lord!

  • I really like this! A great album is "The Lover and the Beloved", but you would probably have to order it. They are moving songs mostly from the writings of Saints, John of the Cross and Theresa of Avila. The first poem-song was a Song of Songs-like romance song to Jesus from the Bride of Christ, the Catholic Church (members of which these writers were), which came from the side of the new and wholly holy Adam, on Pentecost.

  • If it were sooner than Pentecost, some Catholic correct me. His death could have been the sleep of Adam, but the birthday f the Church is Pentecost, I believe.

  • This is top drawer guitar playing vvery moving song

  • jjbelmonte: I'm sure music stores who deal in sheet music or Christian music stores in your area can answer your question. I have purchased Brother Talbot's music and lyrics in my town.

This music video is about Jesus, children! Go out and do a kindness in His Name. I beg you not to argue doctrinal differences here on "You Tube" and risk bringing His Name into disrepute! If your faith is important to you, you will find a different forum for that. Mm'kay? :-)

  • Where can I get the lyric of this song

  • Drage1862: Can you show me where in the Bible it says that "it doesn't matter what we believe?" It sure does matter what we believe and like I said that divisions in Protestantism is awful and I can't begin to think that God is happy with that.

  • This is a great song. I know John I've met him a couple of times I know where he lives he pretty cool.

  • Really? Then Jesus would have been a poor evangelist. When the rich man asked Jesus "what must I do to be saved, Jesus replied "sell all you have and follow me." The truth is that Christ called for conversion, baptism and repentence from sin. St. Paul said "work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Salvation is too rich a concept to simplify it to a 4 second confession of saying " I accept Jesus as my personal Savior." The bible does not teach this.

  • This song is available on JMT's cd "Signatures." It is the 10th track.

  • From JMT: "Most creedal Christians profess the Apostles and Nicene creeds in their churches. In both creeds mainline Catholics and Protestants alike profess belief in "the Catholic Church." The next time we profess these words, I would propose that we do a little reality check. Are we living like Jesus here in our own day and time and really learned to selflessly love like Jesus loved, or have we simply become cultural Christians, or worse yet, religious fanatics?"

  • Being a fanatic for Jesus Christ is not a bad thing. Remeber the term Christian was a derogatory term. It depends on what you mean by "fanatic." Yes I am a fanatic for Christ, a "Jesus freak." I don't think that Saint Francis was worried about being a "fanatic" or Mother Teresa, or Saint Terese. If you mean by religous fanatic a Pharasee then yes that is not good. God bless.

  • The reason I sometimes say "Catholic Christian" is that many (MANY) non-Catholics think that Catholicism is another religion, separate from Christianity. I prefer to concentrate on what Christians have in common - the Body of Christ - rather than our doctrinal differences. I'll ask JMT for a comment on this, and post it today.

  • I agree to some extent with you to some extent. But there are differences that can't be ignored. The Catholic Church has been around for 2000 years and the Reformers have given us 33000 differing denominations all claiming to be right. There is too much division and I pray that are protestant brethren come home.

  • I'm a protestant and I am quite happy with my faith. We pray to the same God, Are you telling me on the day of judgement he is going to take that into consideration ? I am no less Christian than you so why put labels on us. As long as we act as Christians, help the less fortunate and do no harm, God is not going to distinguish between you or I. Are Catholic priests that abuse choir boys better than a Protestant ?

  • Are Protestants that abuse choir boys better then Catholics? Check out reformation dot com People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Yes God is going to distinguish, that does not mean as a Christian that will keep you out of Heaven, but maybe eliminate some blessings God would have given you and other Protestant Christians.

  • I have never heard such disgraceful remarks from a so called Christian, God is not going to distinguish between catholics and Protestants or eliminate one or the other from certain blessings we are all Christians and that is all that matters. People like you give catholicism a bad name. You should be converting atheists not preaching to the converted.

  • When Pope Benedict visited the concentration camps, He did not apologise on behalf of his native Germany for the atrocities, He did not apologise for the fact that Pope Pius XII remained silent at the time the atrocities took place or that he was in the Nazi youth and he didn't mention anti semitism either. The Pope apologised to the Muslims for supposedly offending their so called religion but it's O.K. for you to offend Protestants.

  • Pope Bennedictt made no such apology on behalf of Pope Pius XII. Pope Pius remained silent because that is what the Jews wanted him to do because he was hiding out thousands of Jews at the Vatican. Some Jews converted to Catholicism after the war because of Pope Pius, so you don't know what you are talking about.

  • Christ founded the Catholic Church, not the Protestant Churches, that was Martin Luther. I can't imagine that God is pleased with 33000 differing Christians Churches completely divided. I am sorry that you are offended, maybe you should pray about it and see if you are where God wants you.

  • I said that pope Benedict made no apology for Pius XII so You didn't read it correctly. I know that the church hid jews but what has that got to do with not condemning the atrocities. If I had ever thought about converting to catholicism a religious bigot like you would be every reason not to. Why are the Christian churches divided ? because of santimonious intolerant Christians like you.

  • It was the rotten Medici and Borgia popes

that laid the groudwork for Protestantism. A branch of Christianity formed to clean up religion not to go against God. Pope Alexander VI used his daughter like a prostitute he was nick named The Pimp. I'm not saying Catholicism is a bad religion but I should imagine God would blame what went on in that faith at that time for the breakup. We have all let him down in one way or another.

  • And who is the one that is name-calling and using ad-hominem. Pope Pius XII did condemn the Nazi's openly but kept it to a minimum due to the fact he was hiding Jews and would have alerted the Nazi's that he was hiding them. YOu call me a bigot? If you think so then prove it. Defend your 33000 differing belief systems in Protestantism. Defend Martin Luther's killing of Ana-Baptists. Your "Reformer" was a "great guy."

  • I don't know what your problem is but you are the only one that is hurling insults and ad-hominem comments. Sorry but the Church is divided because Protestants want to do their own thing and not be under Christ's authority which is His Church, sorry, but that is the truth and if that hurts your feelings then I am sorry.

  • You haven't hurt my feelings, Like you I'm entitled to my opinion. I don't need to prove you are a bigot, You have made that evident yourself. God will decide ultimately what happens to us. I don't need to defend my faith to you. That is between me and God, something that I an many protestants feel comfortable with. Take Care my friend.

  • Whatever, I find it funny that anytime anyone nowadays doesn't like the truth, we hear the word "bigot." Just like C.S Lewis once said, there will be a day when facts will mean nothing and we will only surmise about one's political or psychological state to try and prove a point. Thanks for proving Lewis right. By the way I never said that you were NOT a Christian. I said that you are imperfectly connected to the Catholic Church being a Protestant.

  • I have been looking for the cd with Michael Card and John, It's called Brother to Brother, Prase God for thees men. What a great gift. Prase God forever Amen

  • YOu can order it if you don't have it at any Christian bookstore. I have bought it twice now.

  • My favorites of John's are the Come Worship the Lord series Vol 1&2, Troubador for the Lord is awesome too. I went to Israel in 1993 on a tour of the Holy Land with John and Mercy Corps.

  • Yeah, that was back in 1979 (I think, I'm so bad with timelines). I believe it was Basilica of St. John (??).

Shane, if you could recommend a few "top" JMT cds to start with, what would they be?

  • Mitsouko9:

Perhaps the best is a compilation CD entitled: "Master Collection V.I.--The Quiet Side!" It has most, though not all, of JMT's known works. It is personally my favorite. Hope that helps....

  • Oops...sorry...I meant "BEST known works!"

  • Try a CD called Quiet Reflections (1987). This was also a video that JMT made. Before or over certain songs, JMT reads appropriate passages. Other recommendations I have are: Hiding Place (1990), Come to the Quiet (1980), and The Lover and the Beloved (1989).

  • I saw John Michael Talbot in concert at a beautiful cathedral in Boston, years ago. I attended with my father and his prayer group. That is the only concert I have ever attended with my dad. I think it blew my father's mind that I knew all of the lyrics to the songs sung! I will never forget that evening!

  • What wonderful memories you will have when your Dad passes. To have shared that experience...wow!

  • awesome song and play. What a gift! Praise God

  • John Michael IS definitely a talent...a talent on loan from God! His Catholic faith is not only unquestioned but is to be aspired to. His music resonates his love foe Christ. Oh that we all could have such faith in Christ!

  • John's faith goes beyond "being" Catholic, it's being Christian that comes first with him.

  • I doubt that John Michael makes a distiction between being Catholic and being Christian. They are the same to him. To say "Catholic Christian" is redundant.

  • I guess that's what I meant to say, you just said it better. Thanks
