The green house was added by the producers. They got the ok, from Stephanie Meyers for it. Mrs Hardwicke stated that anything they wanted to add, they took to Stephanie as they did not want to add or subtract from the book w/o her advice. Mrs Meyers gave the go ahead with the Greenhouse Scene.

omg u guys! of course this scene is not in the book. They announced a long time ago that they asked stepanie meyer if they could do a different scene for the movie which is the field trip to the greenhouse. She said it was okay. Keep in mind that stepanie was watching (or in other words keeping an eye on) almost all the filming they have done for twilight.

This scene is great! It's not in the book, true, but I love that they are adding bits. Twilight the book and Twilight the movie all happen in the same world. Added bits just enhance the story. They are staying true to the characters and story and I'm sure the added scenes can only make it better.

They might have changed some things in the movie, but that's how it is. It's not easy to put every little thing in a book into the movie. Sometimes it won't play out as well on screen as in the movie.

Catherine, the director, has said that she did discuss it with Stepheine before putting anything into the script that wasn't in the book.

The green house scene was added with Meyers consent. You can't film a book exactly as it's written, otherwise we'd end up looking at several hours of Bella just sitting around thinking. Personally I think this scene is pretty cool, and the irony of Edward saying 'Google' is great.
