  • Creoo qe toca mejor el niño qe la señora haha okno broma...

  • This kid has talent. But we all do not know if he really likes music or not. We must remember that he is young and cant just make decisions on his own. Someone is most likely forcing him to do this. This takes more focus than a 6 year old has to make it seem fun for him. It is quite obvious that he was forced.

  • The kid has got talent and the feel for music But in this video, it is his teacher who is playing most of the music, it seems!

  • at least hes not an asian prodigy because i am tired of seeing those

  • если ребенок за клавой-пиздец гений.... гавно, полнейшее, не попал ни в одну ноту

  • I like this piece of music.

  • Keep it up Ethan you're awesome!

  • If he can play piano at the age of 6, wats to say i cant be the next president ! what im trying to say is that the imposible is posible and this kid just proves it !!!!

  • ethan viaja na música... isso é propriedade dos músicos fenomenais. é o próprio fenômeno.

  • amazing this kid doesn't seem to have a care in the world yet he's incredible

  • When I was 6, I was just learning how to play "Mary Had A Little Lamb". This boy may not be a genius, but he's a piano prodigy. I mean, "Come on!" this boy could play the "Baby Einstein" music on an ELMO keyboard at 3 years old by just listening to the music and then repeating it IN KEY. I was running around like a speed demon on wheels at 3. Good job Ethan! Keep on playing, for the music's in you!

  • Hey everybody?......... HE'S "6"!!!!!!!!when i was 6 i was still eating dirt and pennies.

  • Great song :3

  • Simply amazing. Try to imagine how great he will be in say, 25 years. Boggles the mind.

  • I hope you guys know that ethan most likely spent MONTHS on this thing. He didn't instanly know it. And yes! I do play piano and am learning this song. That's why I watched this video, my piano teacher reccomended watching this. And he is good at this I do admit. Good Job Ethan! :)

  • This absolutely amazing little boy donated billions of dollars to a children's hospital in Florida. Not only does he have the gift of music....he has the gift of compassion. Listen to his early video's....the child has more sense than most adults. Ethan, you're a great kid with a lot of love in your heart. Never let anyone take that away from you. :)

  • Where's the child prodigy? I keep looking for avidence through numbers of youtube films. All I see is at best a talended young boy who has good musical sence. To call him a child prodigy is to belittle Mazart.

  • When I was 6 years old I was eating dirt under the porch of my house!!

I can barely find my car keys when I need them - less so find the keys on a piano!!

  • @HorChild haha thats funny

  • I love how everyone thinks he just got his talent. I know him personally and he plays piano for fun. My piano teacher, his aunt, pushed him through the ranks and then he became famous.

  • @fluffball210 u must be so mad that she didn't push u through....ha..ha..ha..!! Reads like jelousy....so sad for u...so good for him...and through his music he possibly saved a lot of childrens lives, he was able to raise 12 mil for Miami Childrens Hospital where they gave his baby brother heart surgery...his beauty goes way deep that shallow people can't really see

  • @v3r0nica91 You sound like an idiot......he's 6...any ideas of charity came from adults.......a 6 yr old doesn't have the brain for that.....yes he is "skilled"( has a teacher) he is not talented...

  • @kanohane He composes his own jazz pieces..... by creating stories in his head and putting them into music...... fuck off with this 'untalented' garbage. And if your definition of 'skilled' is 'has a teacher' you need to read a book. A long one.

  • @poomeff Ok..I do art....I'm considered talented because I was NEVER taught...but if I had a teacher then I would be considered "skilled" because I had to practice....instead of being "born" with a gift...anyone can learn a skill, kid...And btw..I play pian...that's how WE ALL come up with songs.....not unique....

  • @kanohane Was my argument ever about "unique?" If you're going to try and prove someone wrong you might want to stay on topic. My question to you, would you say that kid is 'untalented?'

  • @kanohane Ok, so you are only talented if you are born with perfect playing technique? What do you mean by art? Do you mean throwing shit at a wall, seeing which of that shit sticks and then calling yourself creative?

  • @Ylviste 1) exactly...skills are "learned".... 2) I mean art by drawing and painting real portraits of people....abstract art is not a talent nor a skill...I was decent at art even as a preschooler....

  • @kanohane Wait a minute, do you really think that a talented person doesn't need to develop his talent, I mean talent essentially means that you learn and obtain certain skills faster and you are able to achieve a greater proficiency in a particular skill, talent in itself is worthless, unless you develop it and do you think that the only form of art is drawing and painting portraits? Music, literature, film and theatre are not art?

  • @Ylviste Cinematography, poetry, and ect are different forms of art...they share NO relations, so you can't group them in the same category.......Some people are just born with talent....some kids can play by ear with no teaching, some are born perfect singers, some are smarter than others, and some are natural actors...none of which required a teacher....those who used a teacher developed the skill to sing or ect...true talent can never be taught, because its a gift.

  • @kanohane Some kids can play by ear with no teaching but that doesn't mean that they have perfect technique, they have to practice and learn in order to develop their talent.

  • @Ylviste yea..but that's "refining" the "talent" they already have...IMO skilled is better than talented anyways...it means you had to work a bit more to get to your spot...I said the kid is skilled, I mean, he doesn't suck but with a good teacher most other kids his age can learn too >_>

  • @kanohane I agree, most kids will be able to pick up the basic skills of piano and other things but you can't doubt the fact that some kids are born with very special and unique talents, and he so happens to be one of those kids. Of course learning more never hurts, but some things- like the way he feels the music, for example- aren't things that can be learned by any kid, or anyone as a matter of fact. in my opinion, just knowing how to read and play a song doesn't make the result music.

  • @xxcoolio10xx I agree some kids are born with those talents and desires..but he's six years old, we don't know how he "truly" feels about music....but, we do know he's easily influenced by others and adults around him...and someone is "pushing" him to do what he's doing at this time in his life...I assume his parents are behind this as usual......if he loves piano for himself thats great and I hope he becomes a famous pianist one day, but if its someone other than himself thats just annoying...

  • @xxcoolio10xx Nope...

His parent didn't want to get piano lessons for him until he proved he could do Mozart on a kid's play keyboard...

  • this kid looks slightly spacky, but a great pianist. he'll never be a model, but could do very well in his passion. keep up the good work sunshine x

  • This kid must be from another planet.

  • Indigo child ;)

  • Mama mia, que CRAAAK.....!!!!!

  • this kid is a genius its so great

  • This child is whiz kid.!!

    Great

  • great 4 a 6 year old

  • I think natural ability is very important. I agree that 99% of kids don't have the opportunity to play a musical instrument. But I doubt very much that if all kids had the opportunity, most would be this good. It's a combination of hard work and natural gift. It applies to everyone who excells at what they do.

  • actually he tought himself. his parents didn't even know untill he showed them

  • Where did you get your analogy? Are you a psychologist? My daughter started to play piano at age 3, played by ear at first. I never forced her play or learn piano, she just love to play, and very good at it. The psychologist at her school said that she's one of those gifted kids. So, forceful ways? Do your research, please..

  • @markteetsjr06 you're mistaken, he developed his own skills. His parents were surprised.

  • His talent was first discovered when he played a little toy keyboard... He heard and repeated complex songs after hearing them for the very first time, kind of like a savant. After his parents witnessed this they knew he was gifted and pursued it with formal lessons. He is a very intelligent boy and speaks more eloquently than people twice his age. It has typically been my mandate to agree with your theory about exposing children to music at a young age, but this boy is truly special.

  • @gillyarchtop Are you kidding me? Dude, I know this guy in person. -.- He got famous through my piano teacher pushing him through the ranks....

  • Agreed with Markteetsjr06...

  • amazing! and hes adorable!

    RIGHT ON ETHAN.

  • You can tell he's feeling the music. That is so unusual at such an eary age. He's indeed a gifted little genius. lol

  • @TheLovelyPiano not really that unusual...

  • @TheLovelyPiano

He is a savant in pianism, yes but by no means a well rounded genius.

  • for 6 y.o. ---great job!

  • to kunaichakra, this boy's talent shouldn't be measured against a personal like of yours for another prodigy. Just look and accept the amazing gifts these children have and applaud them all. The world is big enough for a lot of prodigys to be in awe of...

  • cool! :)

  • your a dick

  • He's good for his age but this needs better dynamics

  • I LOVE HIM! TALENTED AND ADORABLE!!!

  • Well done, I like it !! Beautiful.

  • wow! he's just amazing. so amazing.

  • Gonegolfn07 i was just watching another video of his and ure still complaining? So either u think he is better then u are or u are trolling. Either way you are a dumbass. He could probly outplay u with his feet. hes a prodigy. DEAL WITH IT he can do all this from memory not a peice of paper. hes better then u FACE IT

  • Ethan Bortnick is very talented and gifted, but is not a PRODIGY.

A real prodigy is Marc Yu.

You can compare Marc at 7 and Ethan at 8and you will see a big difference.

  • Oh shut up with your 14 years of experience and your 'I can play better'. I bet he could outplay you with his feet. Go ahead and put up a vid so we can all laugh at you like others will when he's 10 years older playing somewhere like Carnegie Hall and they come to check out his early career and read your ignorant comment while your still home watching YouTube desperately trying to get people to think you have more talent than the next 7 year old that wouldn't let you make them a grilled cheese.

  • Jelousy and envy at it's finest. The kid is gifted and inspirational, shut up and accept it.

  • One word, amazing!

  • BEAUTIFUL JOB ETHAN.

  • he's russian

  • his teacher is

  • Hey...YOU'RE NOT ASIAN?

  • He is from Russia...your point?

  • Haha, he makes me think of Mozart xD

  • Sad how Asian Americans are seen as foreigners just because they are Asian

  • Congratulation, fabulous. An embrace of this one teacher of piano Hispanic - Argentinian. Shalom.

  • I can barely get chords out on my guitar.. wow. has science ever figured out why some kids can do this so easily, and other people cant play a note? I wish this little boy well. and i agree with hiblackie... i hope his parents let him go at his own pace and pursue what interests him,, not them.

  • I do hope that Ethan's parents will not push him too hard in the music field.Anyway, wish him all the best!

  • cute..

  • This boy rocks!

  • i started taking lessons when i was 6 but i was playing when i was like 3 or 4. i am 11 now but i quit for like 2 years so technicly i have been playing for about 3 years

  • Great new piano star only 6 years old!! Please keep up your good works Ethan!!

  • It's difficult to understand why some of these people try to belittle this incredibly talented boy - he is, by any real musician's understanding, a true prodigy. And some of the comments might suggest that the writers carry a dictionary around - might help with the spelling

  • Ethan is obviously a natural crowd pleaser. That's why dozens of shows invite him to appear. Check out his website if you want to see more, a lot more, of his videos. It's a shame to see how much calumniation talented kids and their parents have to endure.

  • obviously he's an amazing pianist, he's three and has composed his own music

  • get it baby

  • music is music, lolly

if it has a beat and a tune then it is music

and so what if hes not asain? us american kids cant compare to them asains in music, i guess. i like this ethan and do think hes a prodigy

  • Marc Yu is as American as you are. He was born and grew up in LA.

  • Ethan is Russian.

  • He's not as good as as a lot of other "child prodigies" for example Marc Yu played flight of the Bumblebees at his age, and Ariel Copland could play Nocturne in F minor

  • Did his parents push him as hard as other child prodigies? That makes a world of difference. Also consider that other prodigies started playing earlier than Ethan. Marc Yu was exposed to the piano a year earlier at 3, giving him more experience. Even if Marc is better, a kid who can listen to a song at 4 and play it on the piano by ear is a prodigy. Don't start about Asian superiority either. I've traveled extensively in Asia and can tell you that plenty of idiots exist there as well.

  • honestly, I wouldn't consider him a virtuoso. I've seen far better players than him at that age. Yes, hipiggy7me, I hear him messing up the song as well.

  • you try playing this & composing music at this young age. he is amazing!

  • I can't believe you people

  • what he said

  • if you think he is good watch the little asian girl play nocturne in c sharp minor by chopin. thats real music not this fluffy stuff

  • douche

  • this kid is definetly not a prodigy. he's adorable and really good for his age, but not a prodigy. mozart was a prodigy. he;s is no prodigy. this song does not sound difficult at all.

  • well of course hes no mozart, but he has 200 songs down by memory, writes his own music and knows 2 languages by the age of 6. so he does have some qualities of a prodigy

  • this kid's not a prodigy! especially here, any time a piano teacher is playing WITH the student..you just know the teacher's doing all the work..so it's not talent..

  • oh my god i love this music and he plays so wel i cant beleave it

  • I enjoy hearing genuis at play.

  • u scare me lol but that only means u have my respect lol XD i guess everyones respect god bless u =) dang this time he did blessed u xD

  • Good on ya little fella,

Great - all by memory!!! Very musical and persistent. Despite a few problems, you understand the music and feel it. Whilst there are so many asian prodigies out there with iron whip (oops i meant 'cast') fingers - you at least look like you are enjoying it.

Keep it up, you are very musical and talented.

    10 out of 10.

    J.

  • WOW! And all by memory. Truly a prodigy! And he was on Oprah today...VERY sweet and humble little man.

  • he's insane!

  • He's adorable! And he has so much talent and good posture!

  • That is so incredible

  • wow this kid is good! keep up the good work dude!

never heard of this composer or piece b4...anyone know anything bout it/her?

  • My grandmother wrote this piece. Her name is Anna Asch and this is just one of her many concertos. I have played many of them with her.

  • i bet she is your grandmother

  • Err was he playing in 5/4 at some point there? Rhythmically that's ridiculously complex for a 6yearold... Jeez...true genius right there

  • wow! this is music to my ears~ i love classical piano music and this little fellow has all the moves, the look, the talent, and the understanding of great classical music~ BRAVO~~~

  • Wow! He's really good! I hope he keeps up with his learning of the piano. ^_^

  • This child moves my soul.

  • He is SO cute! He is so much into the music. I wish you the best, Ethan. Keep up the good work. It looks like you are in a very good hand.

  • ugh... again conflicting opinions to the extreme. guys take a break you sound mad at him even though you write to ethanmusicsite. don't stress yourselves

  • he's talented, no doubt... By labeling him prodigy all over youtube, his parents are putting pressure on him - hopefully he will live up to these growing expectations without stress

  • wow.

  • I have worked with children around the world. This child is a true artist. Just the rhythmic movement in his stature shows a complete understanding of the musical arrangement. His focus is steady and smooth. At six years old, this child is absolutely gifted. Wow.

Thank you for sharing with us! The world needs more positive energy and hopeful messages like this.

  • Totally not a prodigy. seriously.

Why even parade him around like that?

  • At his age he is, plus he has only ben taking lessons for TWO years. You know nithing about pianists. You are wrong ^^. I think you posted this when you were in a abd mood.

  • lemondrop... googonx is 14 yrs old and in a worse mood than everybody... but so passionate that he might learn piano, which is a very good thing :))

  • Comments get off beat alot, stick to the topic

  • In the comment below there is a typo: read "I DO NOT label" ... instead of I DO DOT label.. sorry

  • He does not play by himself, his part is easy and the teacher's presence is essential. Please see my 7-year old gifted student Hailey for comparison (type "hailey pianist" and pick "W.F. Bach Air" video or go directly to my channel). She plays a Grade 7 piece (out of 10 grades). I DO DOT label Hailey as prodigy or bring her on the Jay Leno show. Maybe I should!?... I would be interested to hear others' opinions about the 7-year old Hailey, as I think she is more gifted and deserving than Ethan.

  • I am sure he could play whatever he wants, he has physical limitations. Smaller hands, shorter arms, closer eyes to eliminate periphial vision. Leave Ethan ALONE. He plays excellent for his age. You are truley immature and concieted tot ry to convince people he is not a prodegist.

  • I agree with you, he is a prodegist... :)

  • evryone hear saying hes not a virtuso or not close to a prodigy.............

u hav to look at his persistance ,,,,,,,,,,,,

if u dont then ur an ignorant bastard...........

and only crticise if its constructive

  • not a prodigy in my opinion, however, he's very good.

  • he is nothing compared to the many young asian boys and girls who are forced everyday to play piano.

  • Where`s the prodigy? He`s just playing mediocre quarter notes

  • Such zero vibes GreggaryPeccary! Thank God U're not the father! I doubt the very talented child would have gotten this far w/all your universal negativity. And U were this talented @ his age?????????? Give us all a break & keep U'r zero comments to U'r self.

  • fuk u dumbass dont critises his talent unless its constructive which ur nit bening

  • How come everyone who disagrees with me uses such crude language? How am I supposed to take your standpoint seriously?

  • if ur taking bout me i understand but its only from my stand point because most evryone here commenting are ignorant so u should agree with me

  • hey boy.. u are fantastic, keep Rocking..

    don´t say anything else.. he's 6 years old and PWns u R ass.. :D:D

  • Remarkable for a six year old to be able to play and concentrate upon such complicated instrument. Striking higher octaves like a virtuoso. Applause!

  • he is not even close to a virtuoso

  • Your moronic answer depicts not only your ignorance but it shows your lack of gray cells in your brain, therefore you are unable to appreciate art from cow manure. So we conclude that your imbecile judgment is useless.

  • of course he's not virtuoso now. If he works hard he'll become one. He's only 6.

  • It's good, no mistakes, but it's just around 6 - 9 different notes.

  • The comment I just made was totally screwed up. I meant it's really simple. But still, good work! (IGNORE MY LAST COMMENT!)

  • If you want to see real piano prodigies please type "pianist child kids junior" and "child piano prodigy japan" in the Search box and you will get an idea of what a prodigy means... Ethan is just playing well for his age, in comparison to other North American kids.

  • get a life

  • It is not a skill that just any child can pick up.You are either born with the skill of being able to play or not. Some can play much better then others but never the less I am very sure not everyone can do it.Some cant read music but can play .. like me.

  • comparable to Chelsea at 6 years old

  • He`s not a prodigy. Music is a language. Language is a skill that every kid picks up and pretty much masters in a few short years.

  • Excuse me...who do you thin you are?!?!? YOU OFFEND PEOPLE BY EVEN POSTING THAT!! ARE YOU STUPID! YOU CAN'T "MASTER MUSIC N A FEW SHORT YEARS YOU IDIOT!" It takes years and years, and years of practice and patience. Dont you ever post that again, you hear m?

  • Gee... are we talking about retarded kids here when you mention years and years of practice? or are you talking about yourself?... For his age, the little guy is very gifted indeed, like so many more his age here on youtube. But by no means is he a prodigy. See Aimi Kobayashy for comparison, please.

  • Agree about the Aimi Kobayashi part: she is probably the best on YT, although she is 11 years old.

  • u are propably very talented like the rest of us commenting hre including me bu ti tell u the truth u cant pick up somethin like thatin few short years u practice the hell out of ur fingers so dont be a smart ass dumb shit!!!!1

  • He is wonderful. People with no manners should not be allowed to post on this one.

  • Wow, he's so talented! :D I can't help being very curious, why there's so many videos of him? Is he very famous for his piano skills?

  • not bad at all

  • Ethan is wonderful. If he likes piano, piano is just like a toy for him. When I was Young,I loved piano. Now,I am working for University. But if I have time,I will play piano.

By the way,I can't find this song, what's the song's name?

  • its in the description i think.

  • Ethan I'm very proud of you...there is nothing wrong with your hard work...I garuntee you it pays off in the long run...keep it up son.

  • you need to shut up!! asshole!!!!

  • still think he needs more practice

  • let the kid go play outside instead of the piano, he can't reach the pedals for God's sake!

  • Good idea, except, oh wait..
