I adore many of the Motown family, but I have only written one fan letter and that was to Valerie Simpson when I heard her do "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" on a Quincy Jones album. I require all my music students to learn the reportiore of Nick and Val. They have covered this song and all I have introduced to their music are better musicians. I met them once at the tribute for Diana Ross on VH1. Our pictures together were lost but the memories are deep and forever. Thank you Nick for you love
