Awesome, finally a karaoke version of this song! I love singing this tune. If you have the time, check out my A Capella version of it; it's not bad if I do say so myself ;) Once again, thanks for the karaoke version. It'll be a smash at my weekly Glee party :D
Mostly this song isnt in the stage shows cos it was written in for Liza, but yeah so much can come from this song, (always loved it), but my interpretation of it is very sad and depressing maybe this time he will stay, but probably not.
I'm not sure but this version seems like it may be a half a step lower than the glee version, cuz i was like going from this version, to the glee version and they were like *just a little bit* different in pitch..... i may be wrong though.
i love thiss, so hard to sing though. I'm 13 my voice isnt really mature enough to sound perfect.. I just forgot about the last note because in the original cabaret they never said that...
@nikrolls It actually is, I've played both of them at the same time, and the Version with Kristen Chenoweth and Lea Michelle singing is faster and gets out of time with this one. It's a fact :)
@PenfforddMan Exactly my point. You said it's slower than the original, but it's not because it *is* the original. It's slower than the Glee version, which *isn't* the original.
@nikrolls No. This video specifically states that it is the "(Glee Version)" Therefore, the original of THIS particular song, is the Kristen Chenoweth version, from Glee. So, technically, the original IS the Glee version, so this is different from the original version of this song, as it is slowe than the Glee version.
It sounds slow to me too, but I'm sure that's due to the lack of overlapping vocals. A lot of the oomph of this song is up to the singer. But, it's definitely the proper arrangement/instrumentation, and plus it's in the right key for the Kristin Chenoweth version. There are pretty obvious discrepancies between the Glee audio and broadway/film/revival recordings; so if you need proof, play 'em back to back, and there it is.
It's slow because the mood is different than the original. The original is a little more upbeat; she's truly hopeful and excited about her new love interest. In contrast, Kristin Chenoweth's character has almost no hope. Things are looking up temporarily, but her life has been a catalogue of mistakes, and she's more looking back on those than looking forward to better times.
@5squiddles *shrug* It's how I interpret the different performances I've seen. I think it's wonderful, though, that the agreements and disagreements about my opinion highlight the variability of emotional response to music and acting. I'd love to hear how it strikes you.
@smilingsoprano@AriRoobn It's too slow. Those top comments are bull. Look at the Glee version - its not even 3mins.... so how can the karaoke be 3:36 and not be too slow....?
love it thank you
