1. age has nothing to do with being in a car seat it is 100% height and weight. my friend is 14 and 50 inches tall she ride in a britax regent a five point harness and will continue to do so untill she is too big. she weighs 55 pounds.
2. childrens there are 0 reported cases of kids breaking thier legs but a ton of reported broken necks and internal decapitation from forward facing before 3 years and 40 pounds. AKA children need to rear face for as long as possible!
Not a big fan of that booster, the head wings are not very wide, offering limited side impact protection. We LOVE our Radian Monterey, but it does cost a bit more. She does look a bit small to be in a booster.
No children should be harnessed in a 5 point harness from 35lbs to at least 65lbs! Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 harnesses children till they are 65lbs and is $150. The Britax Frontier harnesses children from 35lbs to 80lbs and is about $279. If they are under 35lbs they should still be rear facing! Do the research, and you will find out why! Extended rear facing is AWESOME for little ones! Save a child's life! Pass this important information on to anyone with small children!

I weighed 65 lbs until the 7th grade. So a 7th grader should be in a carseat? Besides, research shows that it is not safe to have a child rear facing once their legs are bent touching the back of the seat. In a crash, their legs will break.
I do agree with you that rear facing is safest for young children and children should be harnessed as long as possible. But the forward facing harness should not be below their shoulders. When that happens, they need to go to a booster with a seatbelt.
research does not show that a child should turn ffing once their legs touch the back seat, there are no documented reports of broken legs from bent legs rfing, but there are lots of cases of broken necks from forward facing before 2 years old. my 3.5 year old is still happily and safely rear facing bent legs and all... she is 5 times safer that way!
I think those solid one piece foam bosters are safer than the ones with all the gadgets. There is nothing to get loose, no moving parts, no plastic to break off and nothing is protruding like the handles.
I have 2 major points

Glad to hear she is not in a booster! Children should be harnessed until at least 4 years and 40 pounds, but the longer the better :)
