I guess the next step in "making the perfect tennis player" (after sheer accident of birthgiven talent (Fed) and early childtraining (Rafa) can only be genetical manipulated player. I guess, it would be a mixture of Rafa and Roger, with Ivanisevic serve and Serena´s tits.
keep in mind, this dude is right handed. he's learned a very difficult and effective forehand with his left, but his 'two handed backhand' is really a two handed forehand with the power hand farther up on the grip.
he attacks from both sides because of this. His uncle really knew what he was doing.
I'd still give the edge to federer's forehand any day. But his backhand is now failing him which is odd because usually it is such a reliable shot, however nadal's improvement speaks with many new accomplishments.
nadal backhand can be attacked though if say someone like federer (i am a fan but like rafa) can pull the angle off to nadal's backhand or get a good down the line forehand it can be a nadal weakness to he even admited if he wasnt trained as a lefty he wouldnt have the scuess hes had today
hey buddy, you're calling me an idiot? You're harsh ESL, learn to type English then talk shit. You're the fucking moron, think i go to telemundo forums and start typing terrible Spanish to try and prove a weak point? Go cuddle up to your Charo doll and shut the hell up. DING DONG.
if you say....:-<....but if you get mad if i tell you idiot how the F**k to call you ...and english isn't my country's language so shut your F**king mouth
Obviously written by someone who's crying because Nadal took over the number one spot from Federer. This is the haters M.O. Why else would someone bother to watch a video of Rafa's backhand and then write about his "bad" habit instead?

i could not give two shits about the number one spot, nadal plays boring ass tennis. He will make the game about as interesting as the WTA, ohhhhhh wow, he stays behind the baseline and hits with a lot of topspin....skill? Take a look at the most memorable players of all time, nadal will never be remembered. He is a footnote in the history of tennis.
Te equivocas mucho mrandall61. Rafa aunque se retire ahora ya es historia chaval. Si te resulta aburrido no le veas. Supongo que si ves jugar a Borg también te resultaría aburrido (one of the most memorable players of all time, no dude). Nadal's playing is like a WTA for you?? You need a doctor or you don't like tennis, my friend, ha,ha,ha

beh, just not the style i like to see, i like touch players like andy murray, and net rushers, im just not a fan of the baseline game, granted he is an amazing athlete, and i have no idea how he gets to the balls he gets too, and hits winners, but its just not a style of tennis i like.
lol dont worry about all the thumb downs, people dont appreciate the older "volley to win" aspect of the game, todays game is based on all round performance and base line attacking.
his backhand is well more consisten and he defends better of it he forehands either workin or it isnt 90% of time it is but his bakchand is always 100%
I honestly think his backhand is the better of his two shots. I mean, his forehand is wicked (don't get me wrong), but he pulls of some of the sickest passing shots with his backhand. not to mention, he can rely on it more. When his forehand is off, it if OFF. His bakchand almost never abandons him in terms of consistency.
totally agree, with you there i copied the style for my backhand and that is my strongest shot, not as hard as my forehand but far more consistent which tends to happen a lot, the forehand is the shot people are bound to make more errors going for the winners where backhands are more sturdy.
he hit a backhand on the run to novak in montreal that was amazing, some of you may have seen, the ball came back cross court so fast, novak could only look as it flew by, amazing passing shot, check it out!
No, the racket was actually slightly closed at the time of contact. However, the ball was hit off center at the top half of the racket face, so the impact caused the racket face to open up and wobble. This doesn't look like a clean hit. The ball probably came out a bit higher than he intended, but it definitely was not a lob.
Nadal's backhand is so gross.

everyone plays with that grip....... so i dont understand what you mean by "but his 'two handed backhand' is really a two handed forehand"
donjuandemajk 2 years ago
it isnt the grip...what he is saying is that nadal is actually right handed and can swing with the force of a right handed forehand
lobextomy 2 years ago
donjuandemajk, he says it's like a 2 handed forehand because he is a natural righty so it's like a 2 handed forehand.

you know what.....it's seriously no fluke that he has overtaken Federer in the rankings.
he makes Federer's backhand look like a serious weakness.
Rafa's forehand + Rafa's backhand > Fed's forehand + Fed's backhand.
This is ESPECIALLY so because of Rafa improving the shot over the past couple of years. His backhand is as good as his forehand now, which is scary.

well he is ranked 2 so I can't say it sucks, but that looked like it was a lob. The raquet face was open (toward the sky at a 45ish angle
