Stupid. This is very childish. The NAB don't want to compete with satellite radio. I have both sirius and xm radios in my truck. But I cut the cable for the fm antenna. I will never listen to AM/FM crap ever. And don't buy into that "HD Radio" BS. Thats very misinforming. Long live Sirius XM radio.
Sorry Clear Channel, you've already lost me, as I don't listen to AM/FM at all any more (and I'm sure to tell the Arbitron callers too).
The merger would be GREAT for me, as it would enhance what I receive at the same price. This bogus agency to "stick up" for the satellite consumer has done nothing but spread ill will and make me hate Clear Channel more.
What a b/s video. It's not like anyone is being forced to subscribe to satellite radio. On the other hand, if there were no satellite radio we would be forced to listen to regular radio and all those commercials. NAB, take this video and shove it.
NAB and terrestrial radio are real scumbags. We need to write are congressmen about these scums. They will go after Ipod next. I will never listen to terrestrial radio again!!
This is BS, who cares. If you don't want it, don't buy it. The same goes for cable TV. Listen to FM, watch Satellite TV. I subscribe and approve of the merger. C3SR is run by the NAB which wants to see satellite radio fail so they can make money off of everybody continuing to listen to their commercials.
One more thing. Imagine if there were TWO FMs. TWO seperate FMs that required two speparate radios. It'd be ridiculous. Same with Sat radio. Sat radio is KILLING itself by competing against itself...when they SHOULD be competing with FREE radio, ipods etc. This merger should have gone thru immediately. The longer it goes on, the more it hurts both companies. Thats what the NAB wants. To drag this out forever. Wake up! The NAB and FREE radio is the REAL competition.
If your argument was as good as your animation, you'd be right. But you are soooo wrong my friend. Monopoly? Of what? Sat radio? The market is much MUCH bigger than that. Besides, if the merger DOESNT go thru...XM will die..and then there WILL be only one. Sirius/XM already agreed to a la carte pricing. It'll be LESS money not more. And Sat radio competes with FREE radio. If they raise prices...they lose customers. The radios ARE compatible. And people will have more choices! Hello!
i love how morons think its a monopoly as if they need satellite radio in their life. you dont like the price? DONT BUY IT. Go listen to free commercial filled crap radio.
This is rather funny, especially seeing how the shareholders voted in favor for the merger and the FCC and DOJ will vote in favor of it in the upcoming weeks.
If they are allowed to merge, they should give up half the frequencies to someone else who will offer a competing service. Why let one player have them all? Remember the Bell system?
Wow, it's nice to see the NAB and FM owners across the country start to LIE in order to save their ass. They just can't face facts that Sirius and XM offer superior programming. A merged company would kick their asses.
This is just a line of b/s from the NAB who is terrified of this merger possibility. They tremble at the thought of stronger competition. Bottom line, if listeners think satellite radio prices are too high, they won't subscribe. Let the market rule, not the NAB.
Money? Who said anything about money? All it takes is knowing people who can play the instruments and do the animation and some somewhat decent recording equipment (which can easily be found on the cheap; free if you've already got it or know someone who does). That's the great thing about productions like this: they cost virtually nothing.
Merger makes a lot of sense for consumers, but not for terrestrial radio (which hasn't been a compelling product for years). This video was made by a NAB financially backed group. Write your congressman and tell them competition is a good thing - so support the merger! It will allow XM/Sirius to survive and compete with terrestrial radio.
If you want to keep your current programming and not change it from what I've heard you will pay exactly the same amount, at least for a couple years, so who cares? I don't need ot save, just not pay more and not lose content
pfortuin. As stated by both Sirius/XM: NO subscriber will pay over $12.95 for 'a la carte'. Look it up on SiriusMerger dot com. Save some face for thinking people pay 4¢ more and you call people insulting names. And dual recievers will cost more, but as technology advances prices come down. Basic technology costs.
You can't wait to pick 50 channels + Howie? Have you paid attention? This will require a new radio & will cost you more per month than you pay now for the entire service. $6.99 for music + $6 for Hoo Hoo = $12.99. Great work, you just lost 120 channels and paid 4 cents a month more for that privilege. Enjoy your new $100 + radio shitdick. Pay attention, you're getting screwed.
Fuck the communist NAB...they are the one with the monopoly worried that competition is going to hurt their margins...hello....pretty obvious why they are fighting it so hard........FUCK terr radio...FUCK the NAB for limiting my choices...what a bunch of shit.......please allow this merger so that we can put a foot up the nab's ass...they deserve it for giving us shitty content for so many years without giving us a choice...........die nab....
What, NAB bashing paid talent and transmission towers? Hypocrite much? Either way, old-fashioned corporate radio is going down the tubes, merger or no. Google: the-nab-a-history-of-hypocrisy
Know who benefits most when the two companies merge? The consumer. I can't wait to pick 50 channels and pay an extra buck or two for Howard 100 and 101, and get the same stuff I've been getting for the past 2 years for 5 bucks less a month.
Suckers.
By the way, O&A, I'll hire you two douche nozzle's to clean out my van daily. I'll pay you 25 bucks a week.
I will never listen to terrestrial radio again, crap like this just reinforces my stance. Satellite is the future why else would the NAB care so much if they didn't know it too?
What transparent bull5h!t. What it really should say is, "Paid for by Clear Channel and CBS - two companies who now realize what they've done to radio. The consequences of greed are being realized. You've taken all that terrestrial radio had to give and have bankrupted yourselves. There's no more costs to cut, no more talent to bleed and no more viability. Rot in hell.
I'm pro merger as a consumer and investor. The NAB has their fingerprints all over this, and why should I care what the NAB wants? When have they really looked out for consumer interests?
While you have been stooping pretty low lately, this brings it to an all time low. Seriously, if you want people to listen to what you're saying, be a little more professional about it.
With a campaign like this, you must be very worried what satellite radio can do to terrestrial radio. But then again, keep up with the times or get eaten alive. And I hope you do
If The NAB does not consider satellite radio competition why are they fighting the merger so hard? Even going so far as to create false fronts that claim to be consumer based, but are really just the NAB. Initially I was on the fence about the merger. The NAB's vehemment opposition has convinced me the merger would be a good thing. Congratulations!
Has Mel, or Sirius, put up a single tower? Most repeaters went up before Mel joined Sirius, and as far as I know every single repeater was placed on a preexisting tower, most on top of buildings. On the other hand, how many thousands of towers have NAB member stations put up?
I support the merger as a consumer. If the merger is not approved so help me I will call and write each member of congress and demand the FCC be shut down for its constant violations of the Constitution. I will also take each radio I own and destroy them in a huge bonfire. Especially since terrestrial radio is meddling in this matter if the merger is not approved I will never listen to a terrestrial radio station ever again.
The Video has some good points, I think sirius is running out of options. Heres the thing though, i vote no for the merger, because it wont save current customers any money unless you get a new radio. I have had sirius and XM and love XM way more. So NO MERGER!!
Since you brought ONA into this, be advised that ONA have been censored, yes censored and punished on a pay service that is supposed to be uncensored, to try to appease Washington and help slide this thing through. XM has all but given up on providing a viable service to their customers counting on this merger.
Will someone please show me an example of where the customer benefited from a monopoly?
For those who don't think the prices will go up, you are insane. That isn't even the real issue, once there is no competition, the quality of programming will go down and the service will cater to the milk toast consumers and sound like terrestrial radio.
This video is a joke as it's done by C3SR who is supported by those scumbags the NAB- Since when are they concerned about the public- they have been programming crappy radio for years, and they also support HD radio- so the issue is they are not concerned about a so-called monopoly- but they don't want the competition- If you pay for satellite radio how is it a monopoly to terrestrial radio- I hope this merger goes through
don't be so naive - you'll pay what you're paying for a limited time and then they'll slam you with new fees. The phone company does it, cable does it, cell phone carriers do it and so will the new satellite company. Only way to prevent that is prevent the merger.
I already know what the post merger price will be. Add up al the ala carte items and that is what it will be. As an example; they will say "everyone wants channel 100 so we will just add it to the basic price". How long the take to phase it in one pay service at a time is the question.
I'm a Sirius subscriber...debated for a while between it and XM...glad I picked Sirius but I would love to have MLB on both services. It is in no doubt a win win for consumers, could you imagine not buying a certain car b/c it doesn't have the service you want? And no no no I don't want a converter. As a consumer I have a list of pros for them to merge so MERGE! :)
I hope the merger doesn't go though. I seen that ala cart crap it doesn't interest me to get it I'll have to junk my current radios and get radios that don't even exist yet. And what to keep them from jacking up the price after the merger though. I'll keep my current plans.
WOW paid for by the radio companies....and you expect us to support you? you are a bigger monopoly then sat radio ever will be.
there is nothing better then getting the best of both worlds, finally being able to kick 60% of those channels to the curb and pick the ones i actually listen too... only if cable would go this way i would be all set with my 5 channels.
I am an xm subscriber and am against the merger. Think about it - the two companies have nothing to offer each other. Mergers usually happen if one company has something the other doesn't - There is only one reason why xm and sirius wants to merge and that is to get rid of redundant programming. Content will definately suffer if the merger happens. To take advantage of ala carte, you will need to buy new hardware, so it will end up costing you more.
That video is such a joke. Everyone knows that the merger is better for consumers. More choices and lower prices. The NAB don't care about consumers. That shows the people how desperate the NAB is.
Tardlist must be working for the NAB...i guess you must be working overtime to get this merger not to pass....cause its tough to have a case against a merger that gives customers more choices, better content, cost less, and will make the car companies jobs easier....hum..
What a fucking joke...how much did the NAB pay you losers to post a shitty video about the merger...how lame is this...you guys are def. gonna lose ...better content, more choices, for less prices...sounds like a winner
i want to be able to listen to NFL and Yankee games on one service. let the merger happen. please. free FM blows with its 22 minutes of commercials per hour. Stern is the king of all media.
nope, radio does generally suck. like I said, I just want my satellite companies ruled by 2 different sets of execs and not one rule under Mel Karmazi and the poodle haired halfjew engaged to a horse.
You must be kidding right? A 2nd grade attempt to through BS. Sirius is sitting on 245 million in cash. Mel is not out of money. Nor is Mel "putting up towers". Sirius only has around 150 towers coast to coast. Compare that to well over 1200 XM towers or the countless thousands of Cell towers, which by the way Sirius and XM both try to rent space to put up the antennas instead of putting up entire towers. I guess the creator is actually the guy in this video... stupid unintelligent inbread.
Sitting on $245 million? Then give some to the stockholders and quit f-ing around by giving it all to Howard Stern so he can buy his horse an engagement ring.
I pay for XM, Sirius was a gift that goes to the trash bin once the sub is up in December. Stern is just the easy target for Sirius since Mel gives him all the stockholder's money, but quite frankly, their music channels stink and are just as bad as regular radio with repetition and deejays that should know when to turn off the mic.
Rot in hell.
truth? you spread lies. check the profit margins of CC & CBS, they aren't the ones gushing blood money like Sirius & XM. Ask a Sirius subscriber, how it feels to know they built Howard Stern a mansion in the Hamptons while its stockholders go broke with declining stock prices because of this merger.
#1 Im a recent sirius stockholder. And the NAB has spent 4.3 MILLION lobbying against the merger. what are they afraid of... a little competition? YES Competition. thats is why they are so against it. Its not a monopoly because its competition against AM/FM and portable music devices and the Slacker.
Monopoly??? What b/s. Nobody is forcing anyone to listen to satellite radio. People have dozens of listening options besides satellite radio. This video is stupid.
but one satellite company makes a monopoly. Especially with mel Karmazi at the helm and his legion of programming tools that develop safe and predictable radio. XM is much more diverse and provides better content on its music, talk and sports channels.
I think it would be great if the companies merged. They've outlined how it would actually save customers money and provide us with ala carte pricing that will allow us to save even more. The NAB and friends are panicking...this is just another example of them trying to spread their FUD.
If satellite radio merges and gives me even more superior content without commercials and raises the price, I will just cancel my subscriptions. Pretty simple deal and free market at work. Guess what? I won't strave to death or die of thirst if I CHOOSE to cancel satellite radio.
No they don't. We can get the same plan we have now with the same hardware for the same $12.95 per month. If we want a subscription that focuses on certain groups of channels we can pay even less than the $12.95 per month. Get your facts straight, fearmonger.
Who has more towers, Clear Channel or Mel? Who spent $1,200,000 so far this year lobbying to keep terrestrial radio a monopoly, not pay the artist for their work and inhibit technology? Rehr's NAB Army of One???
If satellite radio has no competition, then why does the NAB care? Because they compete directly with terrestrial radio. And if a merged satellite radio company has a competitor, then by definition they are not a monopoly. Do not be fooled. Write the FCC, the DOJ and your congressmen in support of the merger.
The NAB continues to stoop to new low tactics. Do not be fooled. This is propganda created by the NAB. They fear the Satellite radio merger due to its threat on their livelihood. Terrestrial radio is dead, and HDRadio is going nowhere. Satellite is where it's at and they are fighting it tooth and nail.
What happened to all the "other" comments? Like this one:
What transparent bull5h!t. What it really should say is, "Paid for by Clear Channel and CBS - two companies who now realize what they've done to radio. The consequences of greed are being realized. You've taken all that terrestrial radio had to give and have bankrupted yourselves. There's no more costs to cut, no more talent to bleed and no more viability. Rot in hell.
Great video. I support the NAB in this. I don't want a monopoly in sat radio. The price I pay is going to significantly rise based on the current "a la carte" bullshit proposal. And we've already given away FM Mods for this stupid merger. Here's an idea, stop spending money you don't have and then ask for a government bailout.
What transparent bull5h!t. What it really should say is, "Paid for by Clear Channel and CBS - two companies who now realize what they've done to radio. The consequences of greed are being realized. This video is a joke as it's done by C3SR who is supported by those scumbags the NAB- Since when are they concerned about the public- they have been programming crappy radio for years, and they also support HD radio- so the issue is they are not concerned about a so-called monopoly- but they don't want the competition- If you pay for satellite radio how is it a monopoly to terrestrial radio- I hope this merger goes through
brtcmfn 4 years ago
I though Mel told the Justice Department that they did not have the technology to have ala carte.
This is not a Sirius vs. XM thing. This is consumers vs. a monopoly. If the merger goes through we are so screwed.
hydrosludge 4 years ago
No, in fact they've already outlined how it will be done, and how little it will cost consumers. No one will pay more than they do today.
lmcdosman 4 years ago
don't be so naive - you'll pay what you're paying for a limited time and then they'll slam you with new fees. The phone company does it, cable does it, cell phone carriers do it and so will the new satellite company. Only way to prevent that is prevent the merger.
kris72663 4 years ago
I already know what the post merger price will be. Add up al the ala carte items and that is what it will be. As an example; they will say "everyone wants channel 100 so we will just add it to the basic price". How long the take to phase it in one pay service at a time is the question.
hydrosludge 4 years ago
I'm a Sirius subscriber...debated for a while between it and XM...glad I picked Sirius but I would love to have MLB on both services. It is in no doubt a win win for consumers, could you imagine not buying a certain car b/c it doesn't have the service you want? And no no no I don't want a converter. As a consumer I have a list of pros for them to merge so MERGE! :)

"More choice" is lies... The System will be dead if Mel gets XM. Eff Mel, DO NOT MERGE!

I hope the merger doesn't go though. I seen that ala cart crap it doesn't interest me to get it I'll have to junk my current radios and get radios that don't even exist yet. And what to keep them from jacking up the price after the merger though. I'll keep my current plans.
turfmower 4 years ago
WOW paid for by the radio companies....and you expect us to support you? you are a bigger monopoly then sat radio ever will be.
there is nothing better then getting the best of both worlds, finally being able to kick 60% of those channels to the curb and pick the ones i actually listen too... only if cable would go this way i would be all set with my 5 channels.
chrissweeps1 4 years ago
I am an xm subscriber and am against the merger. Think about it - the two companies have nothing to offer each other. Mergers usually happen if one company has something the other doesn't - There is only one reason why xm and sirius wants to merge and that is to get rid of redundant programming. Content will definately suffer if the merger happens. To take advantage of ala carte, you will need to buy new hardware, so it will end up costing you more.
RokMartian 4 years ago
That video is such a joke. Everyone knows that the merger is better for consumers. More choices and lower prices. The NAB don't care about consumers. That shows the people how desperate the NAB is.
caseyz1993 4 years ago
Tardlist must be working for the NAB...i guess you must be working overtime to get this merger not to pass....cause its tough to have a case against a merger that gives customers more choices, better content, cost less, and will make the car companies jobs easier....hum..
dmax95 4 years ago
What a fucking joke...how much did the NAB pay you losers to post a shitty video about the merger...how lame is this...you guys are def. gonna lose ...better content, more choices, for less prices...sounds like a winner
dmax95 4 years ago
sirius biggest advantage over xm and free FM? NO commercials on its music stations! then add stern to their mix.. game over.
gilly031 4 years ago
The last thing i want is to help bail out Sirius from their insane contracts.
XMScott 4 years ago
i want to be able to listen to NFL and Yankee games on one service. let the merger happen. please. free FM blows with its 22 minutes of commercials per hour. Stern is the king of all media.
gilly031 4 years ago
tardlist, I'm beginning to think you're on the NAB payroll.
texman81 4 years ago
nope, radio does generally suck. like I said, I just want my satellite companies ruled by 2 different sets of execs and not one rule under Mel Karmazi and the poodle haired halfjew engaged to a horse.
tardlist 4 years ago
You must be kidding right? A 2nd grade attempt to through BS. Sirius is sitting on 245 million in cash. Mel is not out of money. Nor is Mel "putting up towers". Sirius only has around 150 towers coast to coast. Compare that to well over 1200 XM towers or the countless thousands of Cell towers, which by the way Sirius and XM both try to rent space to put up the antennas instead of putting up entire towers. I guess the creator is actually the guy in this video... stupid unintelligent inbread.
SiriusNow 4 years ago
Sitting on $245 million? Then give some to the stockholders and quit f-ing around by giving it all to Howard Stern so he can buy his horse an engagement ring.
tardlist 4 years ago
Just a fraud video from even bigger frauds...big radio
and the NAB...I have loved my Sirius for two years, and I will never go back to the terrestrial ghetto.

No, just enjoy the ghetto humor on 101 and 102

You might want to try Radio Beijing...they have
the strictly monitored programming you will enjoy.
dalmcdon 4 years ago
hahahahaha. no, I enjoy both my XM and Sirius. And I want them under two umbrellas.
tardlist 4 years ago
OK...but it seems that a person who pays for
two subscriptions would appreciate the chance
to use a la carte to pick his favorites, if for
no other reason than to delete Howard.
dalmcdon 4 years ago
I pay for XM, Sirius was a gift that goes to the trash bin once the sub is up in December. Stern is just the easy target for Sirius since Mel gives him all the stockholder's money, but quite frankly, their music channels stink and are just as bad as regular radio with repetition and deejays that should know when to turn off the mic.
tardlist 4 years ago
ok then...you can go back to free radio with shitty content and commericials every 6 minutes..enjoy the shitty content you homo

My comment was erased for saying the truth
What transparent bull5h!t. What it really should say is, "Paid for by Clear Channel and CBS - two companies who now realize what they've done to radio. The consequences of greed are being realized. You've taken all that terrestrial radio had to give and have bankrupted yourselves. There's no more costs to cut, no more talent to bleed and no more viability. Rot in hell.
srw15 4 years ago
truth? you spread lies. check the profit margins of CC & CBS, they aren't the ones gushing blood money like Sirius & XM. Ask a Sirius subscriber, how it feels to know they built Howard Stern a mansion in the Hamptons while its stockholders go broke with declining stock prices because of this merger.
tardlist 4 years ago
#1 Im a recent sirius stockholder. And the NAB has spent 4.3 MILLION lobbying against the merger. what are they afraid of... a little competition? YES Competition. thats is why they are so against it. Its not a monopoly because its competition against AM/FM and portable music devices and the Slacker.
srw15 4 years ago
Monopoly??? What b/s. Nobody is forcing anyone to listen to satellite radio. People have dozens of listening options besides satellite radio. This video is stupid.
texman81 4 years ago
but one satellite company makes a monopoly. Especially with mel Karmazi at the helm and his legion of programming tools that develop safe and predictable radio. XM is much more diverse and provides better content on its music, talk and sports channels.
tardlist 4 years ago
Once again, nobody is forcing anyone to listen to satellite radio. If I don't like the offering then I just cancel my subscription.
texman81 4 years ago
Who has more money while its stockholders get raped on a daily basis? Mel Karmazi and Howard Stern! NO MERGER!
tardlist 4 years ago
I thought you were talking about Lowry Mays or Sumner Redstone.

The major stockholders of both companies have been pushing for the merger for a year.
BenjyBronky 4 years ago
I think it would be great if the companies merged. They've outlined how it would actually save customers money and provide us with ala carte pricing that will allow us to save even more. The NAB and friends are panicking...this is just another example of them trying to spread their FUD.
m3gatr0nx 4 years ago
Have they? Prices go up with the merger. Don't be a sheep.
tardlist 4 years ago
If satellite radio merges and gives me even more superior content without commercials and raises the price, I will just cancel my subscriptions. Pretty simple deal and free market at work. Guess what? I won't strave to death or die of thirst if I CHOOSE to cancel satellite radio.
GNDOTY 4 years ago
No they don't. We can get the same plan we have now with the same hardware for the same $12.95 per month. If we want a subscription that focuses on certain groups of channels we can pay even less than the $12.95 per month. Get your facts straight, fearmonger.

Who has more towers, Clear Channel or Mel? Who spent $1,200,000 so far this year lobbying to keep terrestrial radio a monopoly, not pay the artist for their work and inhibit technology? Rehr's NAB Army of One???
MudManDude 4 years ago
If satellite radio has no competition, then why does the NAB care? Because they compete directly with terrestrial radio. And if a merged satellite radio company has a competitor, then by definition they are not a monopoly. Do not be fooled. Write the FCC, the DOJ and your congressmen in support of the merger.
chapaj 4 years ago
The NAB continues to stoop to new low tactics. Do not be fooled. This is propganda created by the NAB. They fear the Satellite radio merger due to its threat on their livelihood. Terrestrial radio is dead, and HDRadio is going nowhere. Satellite is where it's at and they are fighting it tooth and nail.
