I feel a little weird now, saying that I might take up harmonica for my own band, Skinny Black Santa, and this is the first time I've heard this one by The Cramps...SBS kinda started as a rock band, but I think subconsciously, I've steered them into rock-a-billy and psycho-billy sound...very weird...
Anybody who knows a band with a kick-ass attitude like this. I mean there always epic people like this you just got to find 'em and give 'em something to rebel against.
Shockabilly consisted of Eugene Chadbourne, Kramer and David Licht.
They played free-form freak out psychedelic bee-bop country and western occassionally on instruments such as the electric rake, the electric plunger and the electric birdcage (worn over the head of course).
the thing i always admire and respect from the cramps is that no mather how crazy, shocking and absurd their antics got, they always manege to keep it simple and stay tre to pure rebelious rock and roll its a shame bands todaday lack this form of talent
THANKS - Last time I checked, this wasn't on here - it's nearly Halloween & time to raise Lux, Bryan & Nick from the undead. Off-the-charts, one of the best rock bands EVERRRRRRRR
wow! who could do that? Maybe Iggy for a one off memorial show, but I can't see anyone stepping in and fronting The Cramps, and I can't for one minute imagine Ivy would be up for that. Hopefully he had life insurance and left her well provided for so she wouldn't have to even think of doing that
I like the Cramps, seen them live. Even my kids from 2 and 3 years old like the Cramps, while they don't like other stuff I like to listen to. I guess their music appeals to some primitive instincts everybody has(but a lot of people loose this because they get to grown up).
What a GREAT VID!! Shot at Milkweg maybe? Only Iggy was close to being as cool as Lux onstage. Ivy has such great taste in guitars. I met the Cramps in Boston - was totally starstruck by them. First time I saw them was in DC at the Warner Theater. They had 2 guitarists because their bass player died - somebody told me that. Cool band! Thanks for posting. Wish I'd seent hem do this tune... Lux we love & miss you - keep rocking where ever you are...
The real shame in the great loos of Lux is that one of the greatest rockabilly guitarists ever may be silenced - POISON IVY. And on top of it one truly foxy babe. may she please still play somewhere!
That's certainly a shame, I think the real loss is that a brilliant man is dead and his brilliant wife is broken-hearted. I do wish she would keep playing though...
Ivy girl gets me sweating buckets every single time :D
Cramps then now and always!
